Who lied? The DLC doesn't take place post game at all.

Ps. Nintendo made one of my BOTW dreams from long ago kinda of come true. A new vehicle!!

@carlosrox

You're the only person I saw say that!

But the vehicle thing also reminded me of you, so hey, you win some you lose some!

I still haven't tackled a divine beast yet. - still trying to explore the world. I'm at a tower surrounded by water with electric enemies and mages. Pain in the ass

Started playing the Champion's Ballad DLC stuff, and I'm guessing I'm about a quarter of the way through it after 3 hours or so. It's pretty good. It's not, like, an impressive chunk of new content or anything (at least not yet), but what's there is fun. And I got a nice little reward for doing the Hebra/Tabantha missions: Revali's Gale now only takes two minutes to reactivate! So that's useful.

@nate38

Yeah that's the section I did first too and it's a neat upgrade. I like these new shrines a lot, but I'll see how I like the content overall by the end.

For the record, though, I really enjoyed the opening trial of the Ballad, but I understand why some people might not. You just have to play creatively (and remember this is endgame content so maybe it ought to be difficult).

I found that one to be the easiest overall, so it's definitely a good place to start.

I just unlocked the bike a tooled around in it a little bit. It's great. It won't go up a sheer cliff, but it does go up pretty steep ones. You can also do a burnout if you hold gas + brake, as your tire is spinning you let go of the brake and you get a speed burst and do a wheelie. So cool. I already didn't really use horses, but now I'll definitely never bother. And I was just thinking recently that it would be cool if the horses could be summoned like in Darksiders 2.

Does anyone have a list of what, exactly, the DLC contains?
12/12/17, 20:27
@Mop it up Having finished it...

-- a bunch of new outfits (I have not collected these yet)
-- 16 new shrines, each unlocked by finding and completing some challenge on the overworld
-- 4 slightly remixed boss fights, each unlocks a new memory cutscene
-- a new temple, with a brand new boss
-- the Master Cycle, which unlocks after completing the above

Went straight from Mario Odyssey to this DLC; I keep trying to triple jump as Link, and I also keep forgetting that I can climb everything and don't need to jump.

Just started on the new DLC. Trying to find all of the new armor first (including the Xenoblade stuff). Some of it was really easy to find, but others are giving me some difficulty. It doesn't help that I've been gone from the game long enough that the mention of a "pierced" icy mountain doesn't immediately ring any bells...

I also feel like I need to complete the Trials of the Sword before moving on to the Champion's Ballad, but I haven't been having as much fun with it as I hoped. (Love the armor, map tools, etc., but not feeling the extended naked challenge.)

Really hating the opening trial of the Champions Ballad. Mostly because of this one Shrine full of spikes. I can't climb the platform right near the end and have gotten to it about 10 times now. Pissing me off majorly.

I'm not even sure to what extent the Trial of the Sword is possible in Master Mode, with the generating health. As soon as I got to the first room after the first checkpoint I knew there was no way I could do it.

Oof. I don't even want to think about that. I've been avoiding Master Mode just because I'm not ready to do a complete replay yet, but that's another detracting factor.

@V_s I had a hell of a time finding the journals for the armors, I combed the areas the sidequest menu told me to go for each for like an hour total and couldn't find them. Had to look them up online to find the exact spot. As for the hinted locations, one or two of them I got lucky guesses (including that pierced mountain, no idea what that means), and I had a tough time finding them until I remembered I could use my Hyrule Compendium...

I enjoyed the Trial of the Sword (which I played second) as much as the Champion's Ballad, maybe more. I liked the "back to basics" feel of the challenge, where I was encouraged to get a bit more creative with all my gear stripped away. I felt super resourceful setting up a campfire to use as an arrow lighter, hadn't done that in a long time.

Plus, having a souped up Master Sword is way better than the Master Cycle. Especially now that you can whistle-warp your horse. Great feature! Same with the Hero's Path, I like having an easy look at what I haven't explored yet.

Honestly the DLC was a bit disappointing, I was expecting more of the Champion's Ballad especially. But it got me back into playing the game, which is awesome, so hey, worth it.

I LOVED the new dungeon and really enjoyed all the new shrines! A Major Test of Strength+ was an awesome surprise, baby Prince Sidon was adorable fanservice... yeah, I liked the DLC quite a bit!

I was about to come in here and make fun of you guys for not knowing that the "pierced mountain" is obviously Mt. Lanayru, but then I went to the peak and couldn't find the shooting star... so I guess I was wrong?

I just got off the Great Plateau while playing tonight!

....what? Hey, better late than never.

@GameDadGrant

O_o O_o O_o
12/23/17, 07:03
@GameDadGrant Off the plateau? Jeez, you're already halfway done with the game!
12/23/17, 07:07
@Secret_Tunnel

That's also where I thought the pierced mountain was. Apparently there's a line of dialogue from some random NPC that identifies the actual pierced mountain, but I never ran across that NPC, so I had to look up that one.

@GameDadGrant

That was one of my favorite parts of the game. Enjoy! It's amazing to experience. :D
