That's a lot of Switch games this week. Wow.

If I put my game on the Switch it is going to get buried...

I've got a disgraceful backlog, but I'm getting The Sexy Brutale anyway!

Might also get The End is Nigh. I like Binding of Isaac quite a bit, but I'm a tad iffy on McMillen in general. Not sure what to make of that guy.

Floor Kids still looks fun/cute. I'd consider grabbing it, though I'm still not sure how it actually plays.

@Zero It feels like some weeks there's almost nothing, but yeah most weeks have a healthy release slate. And then we have smorgasbords like this week...

@r_hjort He's hit or miss for me as well, though Binding of Isaac was actually one of my misses. The End Is Nigh is very much in the Super Meat Boy vein, so whatever your thoughts on Meat Boy are likely to be the same for this newest game. I still think Time Fcuk is his best.

@nate38
I never actually played a lot of Meat Boy, so I don't have much of an opinion on it, but I associate it with the movement of games being hard for the sake of being hard, which may or may not be very fair of me. I'm also iffy on him as a person, what with his stances or lack thereof on this and that, and the way old collaborators start avoiding him.

I was keeping an eye out for The Sexy Brutale on Switch, and I'm disappointed to learn it's a poor port of a great game.

I'll wait and see if they patch it. Got too much on my plate at the moment anyway.

@Guillaume
Well shit. Guess I shouldn't have pulled the trigger as quickly as I did. Here's hoping they can and will patch it. With Xenoblade and Skyrim and Doom and whatever I'm not in a hurry to start playing anyway. I'm starting to think Tequilaworks don't know what they're doing when it comes to Switch.

Xander in his review says he still enjoys it, so there's hope. We've also seen quite a few shaky Switch ports that saw substantial performance improvements through patches.

@Guillaume
Sure, there are games like Overcooked and Bomberman R that have gotten fixed, and I'm not doubting the hardware in this case. What happened to Rime? Did they ever patch that beyond the day one update?

EDIT: Overcooked, not Overcoked. I think the latter goes by Gary Busey Simulator these days.

Nervous about this with The End is Nigh as well. I enjoyed Super Meat Boy a lot, but I don't know that I need another masochistic platformer just for the sake of it. He and the game's coder have talked on Twitter about how they tried to make it so that the game is only as hard as you want it to be, so I'm kinda optimistic, but I'm still betting that at the end of the day it's just another platformer.

Gunbird, eh?
I will for sure download the demo for Lost Sphear.

I also want to check out the Red Game Without a Great Name. Ironically because I think that title sounds great! LOL

@Zero

Yeah, it will be buried, but we have to make games for the people who will play them, not the overwhelming number who won't (far more no matter how popular a game is than those who will). If your game makes a dozen people happy, it's serving a purpose. We way missed the chance to get in on a ground-floor of sorts and make big money or whatever on this stuff. At this point it has to be about the joy, otherwise we should start looking for industries that are still at ground-floor. It's like writing. Writing is amazing, but gosh, you will be crushed if you think you're going to be the next Stephen King. Writing is still worth it.

Yeah, I hate to talk people off games, but if you've already played Super Meat Boy and don't have a hunger for more of that precise, die-and-retry platforming, I don't think this is a must-play or anything. I enjoyed Super Meat Boy enough to 100% it and had similar misgivings going into The End is Nigh. I enjoyed the 7 hours I put into beating all the worlds and getting most of the collectables, but the experience was similar enough to Super Meat Boy that I wouldn't have minded not having it. And I've definitely had my fill of this kind of game after The End is Nigh.

As for its difficulty, I don't get how it's "only as hard as you want it to be" any more than Super Meat Boy was. Whether your goal is to just get an ending, or finish all the worlds, or get all the collectables, I think it's pretty much the same level of masochism that Super Meat Boy was. And the extra content is much harder, IMO.

Hmm, I guess I'll wait and see then. Not that I mind hard games, but I have to be in a particular mood to sit down and master them, and I'm not exactly in a rush to get more games right now anyway.

Another thing that I find kind of unfortunate about McMillen is that he seems to have one single art style in everything he does. I don't mind it as such (again, I dig Binding of Isaac) but I feel as if he could accomplish greater things with some more variety and other approaches to the visuals.

Another overwhelming week!

Gunbird, Slain, Dimension Drive, Human Fall Flat, and Floor Kids could be cool.

The End is Nigh is one of the best games this year which is saying something given the games we got this year. It has a great difficulty curve if you are just playing through it and ignoring secrets, and the controls are some of the tightest in a platformer. Music and looks are amazing. Definitely one to pay attention to. Better than Super Meat Boy as well, far better.
