Nintendo knows when it's got something good on its hands. Splatoon 2, alluded to in Nintendo's 2015 Fall Preview of the Switch, has finally been blown out in glorious fashion at the January 12th/13th event.
Key Features: New Weapons (like the Duelies) New stages and classic stages (some with zip lines from the single-player mode!) Online Multiplayer Expanded Local Multiplayer Presumed Single Player Mode New Mode: Salmon Run (aka Horde Mode) - 4 player co-op
Key Questions: What are you most excited about from the trailer? What are you most hopeful for? Are you buying at launch? When do you think launch will be?

Ploot and DrFinkelstein Discuss The July 6th, 2017 Nintendo Direct about Splatoon 2
Turf War might be pretty weird with two people. Actually, I didn't even mind that Balloon thing. But I've never played it against someone with an equivalent skill level.
I don't see them encouraging offline play, but at the same time, I don't think it would be a feature that would ruin the online of bots existed. I'm always up for more options.
@DrFinkelstein I can see how that would be an issue, but the skill disparity was a bigger issue for me.
Yeah, I do think that we'd find out about any splitscreen stuff in the upcoming Direct. And the chat app beta.
It's weird that no journalists have asked Nintendo about the inclusion of any splitscreen modes. Maybe Nintendo put that on the "do not ask" list? Or maybe they just didn't?
But I believe that the Treehouse Salmon Run segment confirmed no splitscreen in Salmon Run.
@TriforceBun Bots would actually be a really good way for squads to practice their tactics. And they already developed some Octoling AI for the single-player mode. The more modes, the merrier!
I watched the Direct and have no idea what's going on, lol. So confused... Oh well. I'll just enjoy my perma-D-rank and try to celebrate the victories if they ever happen! (Is there an E or F rank? I imagine whatever the lowest one is will be my area.)
After watching the Direct I'm happy that they've put more into this than expected.
Do you all remember how some in the WiiU community complained that Miiverse didn't have its own mobile app? I feel like this mobile app, if more games are added to it, will be just that.
Miiverse > Mobile apps. Having to use a second piece of hardware just to use basic functions like that pisses me off. And not just because I'm a luddite that refuses buy a smartphone.
I'm in agreement with you. I enjoyed Miiverse and with it being viewable through a web browser made it unnecessary for an app to be created. The features that they are incorporating into this app for Splatoon 2 just remind me of some of its features.
I was finally able to order a Switch from Amazon today and it should be arriving by Friday, just in time for the Splatfest on Saturday! Now all I need is a Pro Controller...
By the way, do we know how many stages will be available on Saturday?
