Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch

Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers – The newest iteration of Street Fighter II in 10 years, the Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers game is now available for the Nintendo Switch console. The fighting game features the full Street Fighter II roster, plus two new roster additions – Evil Ryu and Violent Ken – as well as a host of new single- and multiplayer features. Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers will be available on May 26.

Disgaea 5 Complete – In the Disgaea 5 Complete game, lead Killia and his tenacious army of rebels on their dark and dangerous path to vengeance. This strategy RPG offers hundreds of hours of over-the-top, award-winning gameplay, and marks the first time the core game is available on the go. The game includes all eight bonus scenarios, four fan-favorite characters and three character classes that were originally only available as DLC. For people who want to try before they buy, a free demo for the game is also available in Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch.

Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia DLC
– All DLC packs, as well as the individual components included in each pack, can be purchased separately, giving players the flexibility to buy as many or as few as they want. The full version of the Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia game is required to use downloadable content.

Season Pass ($44.99, 22 pieces of content): The Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia Season Pass includes all five DLC packs as they release. By purchasing the Season Pass, fans who want to receive all DLC will save more than 30 percent compared to purchasing all 22 pieces of content on their own.

DLC Pack #2 – Undaunted Heroes Pack ($9.99, three pieces of content): In addition to a new dungeon (The Inner Sanctum), this pack also includes two challenging new maps that stronger, more seasoned heroes will want to tackle.

DLC Pack #3 – Lost Altars Pack ($14.99, 10 pieces of content): The mysterious dungeons included in this pack hold the power to upgrade characters to exclusive classes that don’t appear in the main game.

Disgaea 5 Complete getting really good reviews.

I'm curious why it's scoring a bit better than the original Disgaea 5. Just different reviewers at different times, or is the (included) DLC really good, or what? I might grab it up when I find some time.

Hmm, and I didn't even know we were getting Astro Duel? I bought it on Steam awhile back because it looked like a fun multiplayer game, but I never actually got around to checking it out. No idea if it is any good... anyone trying it?! It doesn't actually have any reviews on GR except a single review for the iOS version, and they liked it. It's kind of like a 4 player competitive Asteroids I guess?

Can. Not. Wait. ULTRA Street Fighter II comes out tomorrow! My local GameStop said they may do an early release of the game tonight after closing. I'll be jumping on that right away. It'll be weird not having Garou: Mark of the Wolves as my go-to fighting game on Switch anymore, but I think the new game will be worth it.

Oh and hey, The King of Fighters '99! Another great one. The Switch is kind of becoming my haven for great old-school fighters. I'm kind of digging it.

That Astro Duel game is pricey, but it looks incredibly fun.

@Zero
Probably because no one wants to sit in front of their TV for 100 hours to play a turn-based strategy game.

Astro Duel is $15? Hmm, I guess that's not too different than the $10 on Steam, though I got it for a few bucks during a mega Steam sale.

It's DELUXE. Six players, instead of four, plus some other enhancements, it seems.

6 players is definitely a plus for game parties. Why not just go 8 at that point though.

I feel like that is the kind of thing that would eventually come to the Steam version too though?

Whatever the case I'll probably just buy it again and then we can play it at the SUMMER CHICAGO PARTY GAME FEST 2017.

And get Mario Kart, so we can LAN it up!

King of Fighters 99 versus King of Fighters 98: Which one is best?

I still haven't bought any of the old SNK games for Switch, and maybe a KoF won't be my first, but the sheer amount of games makes it daunting for me to understand and keep track of the differences between the games, so I'd like to know how they compare.

The only thing I know right now is that King of Fighters 99 has some of the prettiest pixel art backgrounds I've ever seen. Almost want to buy the game for that alone. It's turning me into some sort of retro graphics whore.

I saw a physical copy of Street Fighter for sale yesterday while picking up Logan on Blu-Ray. I wasn't expecting to see it, but I assumed it was supposed to be out, given the store I was at.

@r_hjort

Honestly you can't go wrong either way. Though I'd suggest '99 over '98 because I don't believe that one has been available on a Nintendo system before now. ('94-'98 were all on Wii, thanks to The King of Fighters Collection: The Orochi Saga)

That said, if you haven't bought ANY yet, may I suggest Garou: Mark of the Wolves? That's my personal favorite. Not technically a The King of Fighters game (it was originally branded as a Fatal Fury entry when it first debuted in America) The pixel art in Garou is less detail-oriented than the older games, but man! The animation is incredible. Almost as good as the animations seen in the Street Fighter III series. Seriously great stuff.

@legendofalex

Hmm, what store were you at? My local GameStop was planning on a "after closing" sale of ULTRA Street Fighter II, but when I called they said they were not doing it and I had to pick up my game tomorrow.

Well, it was a SteelBook edition. If that helps. I forgot I get 20% off, but I'm not in the market for it right now anyways.

Mark of the Wolves is actually still on the top of my list since you talked so warmly about it earlier! Thanks for the suggestions!

At what time does Street Fighter come out?

Pikmin 3 DLC from MyNintendo? Finally, something to use gold coins on! Might be time to pop in that beauty and check it out. Hm, but I have a digital copy which means I can't "pop it in" so to speak... What does one say when playing a digital game again after some time?

@Mop it up

"Fire it up" has been my go-to phrase for starting digital games. *shrugs*

@Mop it up
I picked up all three packs, only to find that I had already grabbed one in the early days of MyNintendo. 20 coins wasted!
