Puyo Puyo Tetris on the Switch
8.5/10 from 6 user ratings

Welcome to the official discussion thread for Puyo Puyo Tetris on the Switch!

To start, please add this game to your log, add it to your collection (if applicable), and (when you are ready) rate it using the link above!

Like Archie and the Predator, some mixtures are just crazy enough to work. Enter Puyo Puyo Tetris for Switch--two classic puzzlers in one, and then some--to satisfy any puzzle fan's tastes. Regardless of which game is your pleasure, you'll find modes aplenty to keep you busy, including online multiplayer and the lesser-seen offline multi (with bots and teams, no less)! And you're sure to find a newfound appreciation for the puzzler that you're less familiar with, as the game has no shortage of tutorials to ease you in, and even wacky mixes of both games together.

It's getting rave reviews, so go check it out now! Or if you're on the fence, there's a great little free demo on the eShop to look at too. It even includes multiplayer!

I kinda like that mode! It's a bit mindless but very arcadey. And kind of trippy. But either way, like Anand says, you can turn on/off whichever modes you like in options.

If anything, the game's main Fusion Mode seems to be a bit of a fustercluck. It is thoroughly strange.

I haven't even tried Fusion yet. My brain isn't ready.

By the way, Puyo Fever Mode seems to be the fastest way to get coins. It's good training for Puyo combos, too.

EDIT: Fusion mode is insane. I have to figure out a strategy for that mode. Or maybe I should watch that tutorial video...

This game is SO GOOD, people. A near-perfect puzzle game. Even though Mario Kart came out three days after, it's a Switch must-have.

@Zero
Not exactly a huge sale, but what I did is get an Amazon store card and buy all my codes from there. I get a 5% credit on the statement every month and always pay it off to not get charged any interest.

Yeesh, I do not understand Fusion Mode. Like, I *think* I get it, but then I can't wrap my head around it while playing. It's thoroughly insane!

I'm still hacking away at the adventure mode. It's silly, goofy fun. Great stuff!

Fusion is pretty nutty. The key seems to be to avoid trapping puyo and garbage puyo beneath tetrominos.

Like a few of the other single-player modes, the endless variant pretty much goes on forever, though. I just killed myself when I got tired of it.

The competitive modes, even against the AI, work a lot better. (Oh, but Big Bang Mode is the actual best way to quickly farm coins.)

Also, I kind of hate the T-Spin mechanic. Why award extra points for something that violates the fundamental principles of Tetris?

Bought this on sale this past week, and I'm really impressed with this package! I'm not exactly a Tetris pro, and I've barely played Puyo Puyo before, but this game feels like it has something for everybody, including amateur block flippers such as yours truly! Can't wait to force my Tetris loving friend to play this one of these days.

Stupid question: Is there a 'regular' Tetris mode somewhere? You know, a potentially endless single player mode where you just play for high scores and such? There's so much stuff in here, but I can't seem to find it. Then again, I couldn't even find a way to turn off the voices in the Mega Man 11 demo despite having been in that menu with but three different options in it several times over.

EDIT: Hahaha! I've done it again! It's right there on the title screen. Never backed out far enough to from the main menu to spot those quick play options...
