Haha, yeah!I was running around the thunder fields, getting zapped constantly, but never taking damage.

Hmmm, I think the Sheik set with stealth and nighttime movement bonus is my default/favorite exploring set (when weather conditions allow). So easy to collect bugs and frogs!

Yeah, I love that set. Too bad about the man bun though.

The framerate update is like magic! Wow.

Edit - Maybe I overstated the patch's magic. I have only tried the game in handheld mode since the update, so part of the miracle is probably just the game playing better undocked.

Nope the simple solution for the borders of the world is:

Zelda herself chiming in and saying "Link, Hyrule needs you" or something to that effect.

"Link, do not go beyond the borders of Fantasia".

-----

Have yet to try out the patch but Gamexplain's video didn't make it out to be anything mindblowing, especially *that one area*.

But I'm sure it's a good update anyway!

Yeah I noticed it was maybe a tiny bit better? But still pretty choppy. On Wii U.

I only tried it undocked so maybe I spoke too soon. Undocked it runs mostly smooth like butter.

The framerate still dies when a moblin is onscreen on Wii U.
04/01/17, 03:39
(Switch docked): Three moblins shooting ice arrows at me, me firing bomb arrows back -- game literally froze up for 5 seconds. First time I've had it lock up for more than a second.

Even post-patch, moblins are the death of this game's frame rate.

...How many shrines are in this game again? I thought there were 100, but I've just hit Shrine 96 and there;s half a dozen combat shrines I left until I was stronger. So clearly over 100....

How are you guys getting the patch? I read online that it should download automatically, but mine ain't downloading anything.

/EDIT Nevermind, Switch had gotten itself disconnected from the wifi. Wifi connections seem way iffier on Switch than on any other system I've had.

@Shadowlink

120 shrines in the game. After you beat the game, it'll tell you how many side quests and shrine quests you're still missing btw.

@Zero

Yeah, I've had to reboot the Switch a number of times already to get it to connect to my router. It's real shaky.

@DrFinkelstein

Blugh. And here I thought I was doing so well after hearing you guys cursing about looking for your last few shrines. Still about 15 or so to find. Lovely.

Is there any big advantage to beating Ganon first? My tendency in games, (particularly Zelda), is to complete them as much as possible before heading to the final boss. I've got the map fully revealed now, and am ready to start the RIto quest for the final dungeon, but I'm dicking around looking for shrines, completing sidequests, and smiting Lynels for armour upgrades.

I kinda feel like at this point I should just get it over with and then...um, Mop it Up.

@Shadowlink Not a big advantage, just a couple small things to know where you stand:

-A percentage counter on the map. Completed shrines, Koroks, and map locations count towards this.
-Shows how many quests you completed out of how many are in the game.
-Kilton gives you a new task to take down all large monsters in the world.
04/03/17, 01:34
@Mop it up

I haven't encountered yet the Kilton thing you mentioned. I'll have to go talk to him. Is there a counter for that?
04/03/17, 04:04
@DrFinkelstein Unfortunately I don't think so, the only indication you'll get is that a beast you've already taken down will have a (defeated) tag by its health bar.

Yup. Had a solid 1 second freeze the other day.

I still think the threshold for lag is much higher post patch. Certain parts still basically bring it to its knees though.

So weapon slots are vastly more important/useful than bow and especially shield slots, yes? I stupidly tried to keep them even at first and now I regret it. Shields last way the hell longer than anything else in this game as even when in use they only deteriorate after many hits. Most of the time you'll be avoiding that completely, you can parry, dodge, or use two handed weapons. It's weird. I'm just gonna focus on weapon slots and maybe so a few bow slots. Shield, maybe a few more. Most of my attention will be on weapons.

@carlosrox

Yes, weapons are most useful. That said, I've burned through plenty of shields learning to parry guardians. Shield surfing is a good way to get through shields too.

This is kind of very subjective but do you guys feel like there is a logical progression as far as what order to do the 4 divine beasts in? I know a lot of people started off with the Zora area since you stumble upon it if you explore anywhere around the first village much, and it feels like the game is pushing me towards the Goron area next, with NPCs talking about it and it being well... kind of an obvious landmark while I still don't really have any idea where the other two divine beasts even are.

Yet some part of me suspects that Death Mountain has to be one of the tougher parts in the game, and I should save it for later? Or maybe not? I dunno.

I'm still just kind of vaguely wandering around but I'll probably mosey on towards another beast soon. Soon-ish?

@Zero

My order was Zora first, then Gerudo, then Rito, and finishing it with Goron.

Your logic about my first area makes sense to me but after that I didn't feel anything particularly pushing me anywhere. I went to my second area because Erika did and she did because she wasn't directed, but simply just was exploring.
