I'm buying this one for $39.99. I'm sure 128GB will last me quite a while, especially if I'm buying most games as cartriges.

I will eventually. I don't need the space right away and SD cards are one of those things that actually does get cheaper as time goes by.

That said, 40 bucks for 128GB is a good deal!

We already have multiple cards from all the other devices that use them, so we'll probably just use one of those. I voted "yes" though since it seemed the appropriate option of the three, and no "Ocarina" was available.

Dunno what size whatever one we use will be, but I haven't had a storage issue since the N64 memory card days. Darn you Animal Crossing!

I just bought one yesterday, for potential 3DS issues, but I'll likely use it in the switch. Spent 30 for a 64gb, so not the best deal in the world, but I wanted it immediately, so it was fine. I expect to never need any more storage, because I've moved very far away from most digital content.

I'm still not clear on this, can the Switch use regular SD cards, or is it only the micro ones? Regular ones are cheaper than micro, so those would be preferable.

I don't buy digital games so I shouldn't need one for a while, unless Nintendo start offering "free" games like they did with Wii U.

@Mop it up

Only micro, as far as I know.

Yeah, I'll be getting one. Not sure the size yet.

2TB cards don't exist yet, right?

@GameDadGrant

If they do, they'll be pricy! But no they don't yet.

I got the same card as the OP. I've seen 200 GB for $70, 256 GB for more than $100, and a 512 GB unbranded card for $40 on a site that sends a pop-up every 10 seconds. That last one seems legit.

I want a 1TB card when I get a Switch. Which probably won't be until Mario Odyseey comes out.

I have an existing 64 GB card from the 3DS that I upgraded that I will be using at launch. I love physical media, especially carts that I do not plan on buying many digital games.
02/12/17, 03:48
Nah. Probably going all physical, for the games I can.
02/12/17, 22:37
I bought a 200 GB card.
02/12/17, 22:41
I'd be interested in a 128 gig card but they're $200 here!

Even then though I don't see how I can possibly go digital with big games with only 128 gig of space. How big are the game cards?

I might go physical for retail games and digital for VC content. Does the Switch come with an included card to tide us over like the 3DS did? How big?
02/12/17, 23:29
@Shadowlink
No included card, but the internal memory is 32 GB.
02/12/17, 23:40
@DeputyVanHalen

I can live with that for VC for now. That's fine.
02/12/17, 23:49
@Shadowlink

I may get one still just to 'set it and forget it' but since I always go retail when possible, I'm not worried about the fridge. I do end up doing a lot of download stuff through the VC and eShop but alas, it takes a while. Any download packs for games might eat that up quick though. We know of none however.

I'm not sure how to answer the poll; I already have a 64gb micro sad card from my 3ds (I had to upgrade that to 128gb...). I'll just toss that into my Switch and that should be suitable for VC and smaller download games. I'm going physical whenever I can for Switch.
02/13/17, 03:15
Wait, does Switch not support hard drives? I know it wouldn't be easy to use one when taking it portable but still, to have the option to use at home...
02/13/17, 04:06
@Zero they said it was something that could be added later in an update, but for now it is SD cards only.
02/13/17, 04:09
I was going to grab a 128 gb card and go primarily digital, at least for multiplayer stuff, but Best Buy had that crazy Visa Checkout deal, so I ended up ordering everything in physical form. Due to that, the 32 gb on the system will probably last me for a while, in terms of download-only stuff. Which is nice, since flash memory is always increasing in capacity and dropping in price. The longer you put off that SD card purchase, the more you'll get for your buck.

Also, physical Nintendo games hold their value INCREDIBLY well these days, as they've been printing (or 'chipping', or whatever) pretty conservatively. Mario Kart 8 was one of my rare digital Wii U purchases (that wasn't download-only), and if I actually had the disc, I could have sold it to make up most of the cost of MK8 DX. So I've flip-flopped. Physical all the way!

@Zero
That would really confuse the message. As long as the game sizes don't get TOO high near launch (and flash memory quickly gets cheaper), SD cards are a pretty smart choice.

I also love the choice of cards for the game media, since we won't have to freakin' install everything to the system. That has an incredibly inconvenient side effect of the newer home consoles.
