Hype is over, someone make a Game thread!

Done! I'll spiffy thus one up a but when I get back from out of state. Here for some sudden family business.

However, my copy of Xenoblade Chronicles X is arriving tomorrow and I am stoked! The reviews have been generally positive. I guess the game lacks slightly in areas but they can be overlooked for the sheer density and fun this game has. Looking forward to diving into it next week. Hopefully when I return sunday.

I'm so glad that I'm using a FAQ for sidequests. Accepted the "Marry Me!" quest. It says "Gather 10 natural pearls." Kind of surprised that I have none, usually quests that want you to get a lot of something ask for something common, so I already have a few.

Check a FAQ. "They don't exist. Having that quest active is just a prerequisite to starting Hope's first affinity thing, in front of the church."

WHY WOULD THEY DO THIS?!

Try convincing Mia to join your team. It's a fun romp.

And by fun, I mean convoluted and difficult

Because a lot of people play the game instead of relying on walkthroughs, and would naturally find the truth through normal gameplay. And how are you on Hope's first affinity quest now? That was like..Hour 10.

@Mr_Mustache How would I find the truth if I was running all over the place looking for something that doesn't exist?!

Apply this sentence to so many other things we've talked about through the years, haha. MAN.

Life lesson, brother, provided to you by Xenoblade Chronicles X!

(But as for that specific mission, does it say something under Hope's affinity mission like "must have accepted sidequest: Pearl Diving" or whatever its called first? I seem to recall something like that... And possibly with other Affinity missions, too.)

I don't see how this game is playable without using some sort of guide. Collecting 8 doodads that appear in 10% of 20% of the map 0.01% of the time is hard enough even when you know where to look.

@mrbiggsly

A lot of the quests have you track someone with a 'cone of radiance,' and some of the items behave the same, right? Yeah, there are some rare ones that don't. Can you use your track ball (or whatever its called) to find things? I didn't use it much.

@Mr_Mustache

I think he's referring to the regular items scattered throughout the landscapes. I've found myself looking up quite often where certain items are more likely to appear for those fetch side quests.

That said, I gave up trying to beat this game. The end game is so difficult compared to the rest of the game that it's just not worth trying again. and again. and again.

That makes me sad, because I really enjoyed playing. But the final battle doesn't fit at all.

That doesn't sound promising. Can't you just uber level everyone / mechs up though? Hmm. And you could always hire a bunch of level 60s or whatever, I read someone online saying they did that and it was a piece of cake.

@Zero

I guess I could do that, but I've moved on. The final battle is sadly not congruent with the rest of the game and introduces new rules. I didn't feel like grinding anymore, and skells don't level up. You have to save up to buy level 50 skells.
01/18/17, 14:13
@Zero I went into the final chapter with lvl 60 dudes and it was still no cakewalk. However, I don't think the classes I was using were very suitable for it. At this point, it's more about how you set up your characters than levels.

@mrbiggsly Yeah, the game could certainly be better with its item listings and management. The first Xenoblade has the same problem.

@mrbiggsly True, Xenoblade 2 may not have Skells or something like it. That would make X more unique as well.

BTW how does miranium work, you get it exclusively through mining? How often does that kick in? Supposedly I'm mining 70k+ miranium per *time period* but I have no long how that time period works. Is it time I play the game, or does it have some system based on progress or what?
01/18/17, 23:53
@Zero

We sunk like 100 hours into the game and that bit remained a mystery to me, ha ha. Good luck. Wish I could help. Wish anyone could help...
01/18/17, 23:54
You get more miranium every 30 minutes (maybe 45 minutes) of real time you play the game. Although there's a cap to how much you can have at one time based on your storage probes.

This thread is making me want to start playing the game again. I still need an uber-skell and the best on foot weapons. And there's more affinity missions. And the heart-to-hearts
01/19/17, 00:11
@mrbiggsly And online missions... hint hint
01/19/17, 00:15
@Mop it up

Are you still playing regularly? I had some good times online with ya! Maybe I'll fire it up Friday..or Saturday..or Sunday...

EDIT ALREADY- Mop it up (or anyone else interested), lets try to get some Online Xenoblade going sometime on those days. What times work for people who are interested? What times do not? I have 3 days off of work (I BETTER!!), and I just want to RELAX in front of the TV instead of sitting on a computer like I have been all this week and last week at work and home.

Well I finished chapter 11. Near the end... IN THEORY. But probably going to do a ton of stuff first before even trying to attempt it.

With that said, what's the quickest way to earn money? I just bought my first level 50 skell but now I'm basically broke, how am I going to afford 3 more of these things?!
01/19/17, 02:49
@Zero

Have you sold a lot of your old garbage? I was hitting the item limit, and went through and sold off low-level guns and crap that I'll never use again. Some sidequests pay out pretty good, right? --This is a thing that separates my gameplay style and yours, and it happens in other types of games, too.

There was some game, I think Tales of Symphonia?, where people were complaining about their characters being underleveled, or not having enough money for everything. I was doing all of the sidequests as they were provided to me, and spent time (in Dawn of the New World) leveling up my companion monsters, working on them. I NEVER had an issue with money, and I NEVER felt underleveled. So nice to roll into a new town and just buy everything you want to. Bitchin'. As for here?, yeah, I'll have to fire it up and see my money situation. The Skell stuff IS expensive, yes, I do recall that. Can you sell old Skell stuff?
01/19/17, 02:53
I started selling old stuff but it doesn't seem to get you much. 100 here, 100 there... when I need millions.
