Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS
– Get ready to play a near-infinite number of side-scrolling 2D Mario courses anytime, anywhere! Earn in-game medals in 100 built-in courses and access recommended courses from the Super Mario Maker game on the Wii U console. Plus, design courses and share them with other players via the StreetPass feature and local wireless. The Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS game will be available on Dec. 2.

Swapdoodle – Just in case you missed it, the Swapdoodle game is now available. Swapdoodle is an easy way to write messages, draw 3D pictures and share them with your Nintendo 3DS friends. Swapping doodles is a snap thanks to stamps based on the icons of played games and your Mii character. You can also purchase in-game add-on packs that have doodle lessons of Nintendo characters!

Virtual Console on Wii U

Advance Wars: Dual Strike – On the heels of its last defeat, the nefarious Black Hole Army has fallen under the control of a deadly new commanding officer. He has sent its new COs to attack the nations of Wars World once again, and it’s up to the allied armies of Orange Star, Blue Moon, Yellow Comet and Green Earth to put an end to Black Hole once and for all. In this classic Nintendo DS strategy game, players lead their new Commanding Officers to fend off the Black Hole Army’s latest invasion. With massive battles that sweep across both screens, the Advance Wars: Dual Strike game will change the face of dual-screen warfare forever.

Oh man if you haven't played Advance Wars: Dual Strike now is the time. Such a great game, probably the best in the series!

(Even if the titular dual strikes do kind of unbalance things a bit.)

@GameDadGrant

I forget what the rules are for your access the the Wii U level bank, but be sure to check out our Negative World levels list. The link can be found in the Wii U game's thread.

Very excited about this! Real quick, though--is there a lot of Fog of War? I love most things about this series, but not that. Fog of War suuuuucks.

Buying today either way though.

@TriforceBun I honestly forget, but I don't remember it being too bad. It has a variety of missions and a TON of bonus missions, so if the main campaign is too foggy for you, you can always be choosier with the bonus missions.

Of course it has the full map creator too, I used to spend tons of time making maps and playing them...

Yeah, we've been actually playing a lot of AW2's custom maps lately (Sarah's been enjoying the co-op feature with me). A bunch of bonus missions sounds like par for the course with this series. Looking forward to the new COs too; I really enjoyed AW2's additions to the cast.

Are there enough people interested in the game to have a NW playthrough-style thread? Or no?

@TriforceBun Dual Strike does have Fog of War, and a fair bit of it in the campaign if I remember correctly. As Zero mentioned, it also has Dual Strikes, which take CO Powers to a whole 'nother wacky level.

But it was my first Advance Wars and I still got through it okay being thrown into that pit of lions, so you should be fine.

@TriforceBun

Playthrough for 2 or for Dual Strike?

I wanted to do another one for 2 back when it came out, but for some reason it didn't get off the ground. I don't think anyone got excited when I mentioned the possibility back when 2 hit the VC.

@Mr_Mustache

Yeah the club for the first one was a great success.

Anyone interested in another for either 2 or Dual Strike (or both?) T-Bun would be for sure...

@DrFinkelstein From what I'm reading from reviews and previews, the 3DS version has no way to play the levels of friends, no way to enter a level ID, and does not use the bookmarks from the website. Therefore, it has no way to play friend levels such as those of ours on NegWorld. It also doesn't even allow 3DS users to star or comment on levels. Unless it gets updated, the 3DS version is pretty gimped in terms of online features.

@TriforceBun Fog of War isn't as bad in Dual Strike, as the CPU no longer cheats and can't attack your units outside of the CPU units' vision range. I also felt the Fog of War missions were set up better than previous games. You can also equip skills on your COs to do things like increase your vision range.

@Mop it up
Man, that sounds horrible. How are the new single-player levels supposed to be?

@Anand
From what I've heard, they're the real appeal of the game (at least for Wii U owners who already have it). Something like 100 original levels and they're generally solid.

@TriforceBun

That is what I heard as well. Which is probably fine, since the inevitable Switch version will almost certainly put all the features back in, plus maybe even include those 100 new Nintendo-made courses.
