Finished the DLC case. Was enjoyable. Probably one of my favorite cases actually, though two things really stood out as a bit odd to me.
1. I might have my AA history wrong here, but AA 5 had the first big Wright versus Edgeworth battle since Edgeworth turned into a friend / "good", right? And in that game it was presented sort of like Edgeworth knew Wright was right, but there needed to be opposition for the truth to come out? But in this case he is just kind of presented as a typical AA prosecutor... totally wrong, belligerent about it, and wanting to end the trial as soon as possible (and get the wrong person convicted for murder.) I dunno, he just didn't really come off as someone not interested in "victory" but "the truth", as he says near the end. And it made him look kind of dumb, like every single time Wright stumbles upon some new thing it takes Edgeworth off-guard, he basically just thick-headedly sticks to being wrong the whole time until the very end. Just didn't feel like the super intelligent, truth-oriented rival Edgeworth has turned into over the course of the series.
2. The big twist is that the butler was actually the dead sister's fiance? HOW WAS HE ABLE TO KEEP THIS A SECRET AND GET A JOB WORKING WITH THE FAMILY? Maybe this was explained but the only way that would make sense is if she kept her fiance a secret from her entire family the whole time they were together? Because otherwise wouldn't a bunch of people in the family recognize him instantly?
So that wraps up the game overall for me. To be honest it's probably near the middle / bottom in my ranking of PW games, but I've pretty much liked them all so it was still enjoyable. Just wish I got hooked into it earlier, it really wasn't until case 5 that I was gripped. |
