That commercial was very focused and emphasized the movement between indoor and outdoor play. I think they felt they didn't need to show off every feature, especially when they're not ready to show everything this year. I think they'll show off the feature when start seeing games for it. Really, for the mass market appeal, I think this was smart of Nintendo. They focused on traditional controls that people love and made the Wii such a hit. No motion controls shown either but plausible too.
Agreed totally FOR THE COMMERCIAL, but then they gave a No Comment to the touch screen question after. Why? That makes no sense, unless it isn't a touch screen. OR if it's some fancy new type of touch screen that will blow people away, but come on, battery life is already toast so that surely isn't happening. So I voted No. I don't think it is. I think it's a bad move, but it is what it is, and I still desperately want a Switch, ha ha. |

I have no idea if there will be a touchscreen, but as long as Nintendo, Miyamoto or any other member of Nintendo's development team, will never have access to adding in touch controls or worse yet, a second screen into the development of any future Nintendo game, them I personally don't care either way.
I mean, look how games like Starfox(garbage) Zero turned out....yea that game was well received and the majority of people just loved how Nintendo ruined that beloved franchise. Looking back at Wii U's game library, its easy to see that there really is no need for a second screen, multitouch or not, in today's gaming world. Sony and MS has sold millions of games that people love, the world over. Gamers just want a controller in their hands, a television in front of them...its a really easy formula for fun, that Nintendo has been screwing up since the mid 2000s.
Gamers never once implied that they wanted a new way to play videogames. I can play games normally, the way I have since the Atari 2600 and NES days and I have loads of great fun doing so. I don't need a stupid touch screen while playing games on my PS4 or on my son's XboxOne, PS3 & Xbox360.
The only reason Nintendo is in a distant third place, fourth position if you add in PC gaming, is their insistence that they must mess with the formula, thats been proven over and over, but for them, the only way to win is by screwing everything up, which is exactly what has occured. Their own arrogance & stubbornness has led them down a path to pure hell. They are not the only game makers in town anymore. Its well past the era when they saved the gaming industry.
All they need to do is make great games on technology that is equal with the 'other guys' tech, no fancy gimmicks needed, but they do need to kiss the asses of all the third party developers and get those guys back on board. Then, with first party titles that are second to none, add in the best third party titles equals a truly winning combination that no other system can boast. Its always been that easy. |
