Just curious if anyone else picked up this set? It only being $10 for the first week is a crazy good deal. I still have the physical version, but couldn't pass this up.

Ah yeah okay this is what I thought it was. Yeah I remember way back when I first played the game the day wait thing was bullshit so I never bothered.

To be fair though, Metroid Prime's is pretty impossible without looking it up. How is someone supposed to know the game is gonna be that picky? That tentacle thing and one time spawning enemies is pretty ridiculous.

K I admit for quite a bit I was worried that I was kinda disappointed with MP2. Then it started clicking. Goddamn this game is good. The gameplay is where it really shines. I love the combat, and the whole light and dark gameplay is awesome. And you know what, I think I'm really getting the map now!

And I'm already dying to play Corruption now too!
What a great series!

I don't even remember at this point if MP3 has other visors or how the weapons work. My memory is surprisingly shaky concerning this series, wtf! I remember how good Elysia was though. Honestly it's one of the better areas in the series.

Wow. I finally did it. I not only caught up to where I got stuck but I'm 95% sure I just got passed it!

I was basically stuck very soon after the boost ball guardian (I also died against him once and he almost got me the second time, what an annoying boss). That huge room (Torvus Grove I think) with those clearly further spread out boost ball walls and the giant tree in the middle is where I got stuck. There's also a green door not far away and a boost ball spinner stuck in Light Aether all in that area that I had no idea how to reach. It turns out that same room with the huge tree has an OBVIOUS boost ball wall right before leaving the room that I was missing (in Light Aether). I remember checking the room and all rooms near it for sooooooooooo long. I can't fucking believe that stupid little boost ball wall is what tripped me up! I never broke the game at all! I just got stuck at a place that was staring at me in the face! Fuck! So now the rest of the game is sort of unfamiliar territory for me since I haven't gotten this far in like 10 years now! Jesus! What's amazing is I was stumped after the boss and worried I was gonna get stuck again since I had a feeling the part I got stuck at was coming up soon! I even wandered around for a bit and thought I had once again got tripped up at the exact same part! So the stupid IGN guide once again helped me find the obvious. What the hell?

NO BUENO.

But yes, I finally get to move on deeper into MP2 and finish the damn game! It's been forever!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!1111

Damn MP2 is long. I'm just heading to the Sanctuary Fortress at about 13:35 hours in (52%).

Funny, I remembered the Dark Visor being useless and feeling under utilized (it still kinda does), but it's nowhere near as completely useless as I thought it was. With the Wii version though it feels weird that the red glowing objects show up in such a small frame. Makes it harder to use. And the Dark Visor itself seems kinda uninspired. Its sound isn't very creative, and neither is the visual filter. Gotta be one of lazier abilities in the Prime games.

Anyways I can't wait to do Sanctuary Fortress! I haven't played this part in many many years! I remember it being awesome but remember next to nothing about it! And what even is the Sky Temple? I don't remember it at all. Is it not the same thing as the Sanctuary Fortress?? And I reeeeeally can't wait to get the Echo Visor. That thing was all kinds of cool. In contrast to the Dark Visor, it's gotta be one of the very coolest abilities in the whole Metroid series!

ps. And I still need the Power Bomb and Screw Attack! This game is loooooooong!

Wow.

Dare I say MP2 is better than MP1?? This game is so fuckin' awesome!!

It's sweeter that I'm having a pretty damn decent time of the map, though it's hard to remember where to backtrack in obscure parts of the map, especially in Dark Aether. But something about the map is actually really good. It does indeed feel like it's laid out pretty well. Not too far off from Prime 1, maybe even better!

It's great too because I've had the good fortune of getting pretty good upgrades as soon as I'm able to! I got the Dark special as soon as I could, the ammo upgrade, and just now I've found the Light upgrade as soon as I could get it! Awesome! Now I won't feel like these abilities are under utilized and there's surprisingly a LOT left to this game! And I'm 17 hours in! Impressive!

There's still the AWESOME abilities in that third beam (I don't even remember what it's called!), the echo visor (another dead sexy upgrade), and the Light suit (which is....OBVIOUSLY awesome and a great nod to The Guyver!).

I'm very very impressed with MP2. I didnt think I'd like it quite this much. Seriously, it's starting to give Prime a run for its money!!

Edit: And there's still the Screw Attack I forgot about! This fucking game!!

Edit 2: Allow me this Metroid Prime blog I've got going :p

I love all three MP games but man do they fall apart at the end. I don't get Retro's boner for making you go back and collect things RIGHT when you're ready to beat the game.
09/30/16, 00:52
@PogueSquadron
I'm just at the collectathon point of MP2 now. I totally forgot about the dark temple (or whatever) keys thing until I saw that weird creature you find with the Dark Visor.

Dark Aether is always hard to remember for me, especially juggling some of the portal entrances and exits. Finding the rest of the keys might be pretty hard. I don't remember their locations like I remember most of Prime's. I could be in for a slog.

Oh man the tail end of Sanctuary Fortress was fucking incredible. Honestly this game may impress me more than Prime. Absolutely stellar design in here. If they do a Prime 4 they totally have their work cut out for them. I wonder if I'll be as blown away replaying Corruption again.

Damn does the map ever get labyrinthian towards the end.

But Prime and Echoes are really super, super, super fucking DIVINE games. Some of gaming's top games ever.

Got the third beam special absolutely right as soon as I could! Luck?? This is happening so often! Maybe the game was designed this way! It's the first door of that type you ever see, so maybe it makes sense. I felt like other specials were the same. Awesome. So I have everything before I'm even going to the temple to begin the key hunt!

I'm surprised I'm saying this but I just might like Echoes over Prime :O !! I don't even want this game to end! It's such a joy to play!

Uh what the fuck is with the last boss in MP2? He's like the most annoying boss ever. Is he supposed to be this hard? This is some Souls style bullshit. He killed me twice and the third time I quit. Like, did I break him? In his second form he started releasing gas nonstop til I moved onto his next form. Is that supposed to happen? I was farming for much needed health and ammo and then the douchebag just filled the entire room with gas that didn't go away. The fuck's up with that?

He's a pretty creative boss but his patterns are all just annoying and hard to predict and react to.

I'll give it one final try before resorting to a guide or something.

What an annoying fuck. Kinda sours the experience. I don't remember the last boss being especially hard when I played it 12 years ago.

Anyone remember their experience with this boss?

The gas only covers the floor... get off it
10/05/16, 23:10
@mrbiggsly
No, no. I know that. To be clear: I mean I was farming the Inglets (or whatever they're called) for ammo and health for the next phase and he filled up the entire room with gas that wouldn't go away!
I know he fills up the floor (and later up to 90% of his body), but this part he filled up the ENTIRE ROOM. And it wouldn't go away.

The only way I could avoid it was apparently boost balling off of him to the top of the room...which...obviously didn't help at all (cuz I'd just land on the gassy floor).

It's like I broke him or took too long to beat him, cuz that gas was there to stay til I beat that phase.

It's supposed to do that

Didn't you read what I wrote?

He was covering EVERYTHING at a certain point. And he definitely didn't do that the first two times I beat that phase. He only did this once. There was no escape from the gas, and it never went away.
10/06/16, 00:22
@carlosrox

I have no idea what you mean. There's always gas, and it always covers the whole arena. You're supposed to spider ball and stick to him above the gas, not boost ball.
10/06/16, 00:34
@Shadowlink
Sigh. Apparently I'm still being unclear.

No, he releases gas that covers the floor, then he raises up to near the top of his body and back down again. When he does this you can still stick to the top and be safe until the gas goes back down. That's his pattern, that's fine. What wasn't fine was when he raised it ALL the way and there was nothing I could do. And he wouldn't let up, which is why I was asking if I broke him, or took too long beating him.

His first form is highly annoying, and the next two aren't any better. And least his second form is easy, if not annoying as shit.
10/06/16, 00:51
@carlosrox

Hrmm. Odd. May have been a time thing.

Actually I left off there in my last playthrough, his third form got me.

I wonder what I wandered off to play instead?
10/06/16, 00:58
@Shadowlink
You too? This is not a good sign.

Yeah his third form is pretty infuriating. And it seems he might not spawn any health, though he does spawn ammo now and then. He's easy to hit with the light beam but how the fuck do you hit him with the dark beam?? He's always moving around and the shots have a massive delay when it comes to actually traveling to your target!

Seriously though, the entire fight is just tedious and annoying. What a shame.

I'm inspired to beat him though so I can finally move on to Prime 3! Very excited to play it!

@carlosrox

I can't remember for sure, but think I used the Annihilator beam there. Does that work?
10/06/16, 01:10
@Shadowlink
I don't think it works the whole time, and even if it does, you won't have enough ammo to beat him. One of your beams is sure to run out of ammo. And I have 250 ammo too! He switches between light and dark phases (what's also annoying is both look kinda similar so it's hard to even tell which phase he's in).

@carlosrox

Just checked, Annihilator Beam *does* work. And because it's a combined polarity beam, it works on both phases. Just manage your ammo better .
