It's on practically every other platform imaginable, and now it is finally coming to the Wii U!

To clarify, this is not the "Story Mode" offshoot game that released awhile back, but the full Minecraft experience.

In addition to the core game and additional DLC packs, the Wii U version will also have off-screen play and special theme packs designed in collaboration with Nintendo.

Minecraft: Wii U Edition is coming soon too! December 17th, at a price of $29.99.

I feel like I might finally check this game out. The Wii U GamePad seems like a good fit.

So this is the big Monday news? I'm tempted to get this for the kids for Xmas now.

Kinda cool that it's a surprise stealth release. Nintendo could use a little more zing in its holiday lineup.

Whoa this game is $30? Seems kinda steep, I thought MC was a 15-20 dollar affair.

Very cool that it's Wii U/Nintendo specific though. That's the way to go.

$30?! It wasn't even that expensive when it released 100 years ago!

Well, business gonna business I guess. If it ever went on sale for like ten bucks, I'd consider double-dipping (from the PC) just for off-screen play, which is my favorite kind of play. :)

It includes the premium DLC packs. And it was unfinished when it was first released on PC 100 years ago. That's why it's not $15.

My nephew's getting an Xbone from his parents this christmas, in part due to the Wii U not having Minecraft. Tough luck there, kiddo.

I'm predicting a truckload of amiibo support.

@Guillaume

I dunno, what you call "unfinished" I saw much more as "not overly pointlessly complicated." :P

Shame you don't have the option of getting the DLC separately if you want it. Oh well, it's still a bargain for a terrific, long-lasting game.

What's new in Minecraft since a couple of years ago? Is there more single player game beyond the Ender Dragon?

It's $10 more than the PS4 and 360 versions, but contains all the DLC. I didn't think the price was out of whack on first blush. I've seen Nintendo ports of previously released games with prices way more off-kilter. (Mass Effect 3, I'm looking at you.)

I'm sure most people won't care about this, but I never owned it before so I'll probably get it.

...Wait, $30?! Guess I'll be waiting for a sale then.

Minecraft is definitely one of the best games ever. Easily worth $30.

He's ten. I tried talking him into at least getting a PS4, but since his best friends have the Xbone he wants that too, which makes sense.

I feel like this is too late, every Kid already has Minecraft on something else.

It's never too late.

What if his friends jumped off a bridge?!?!

I would happily pay $60 for Minecraft, $30 is nothing. This game has given me thousands of hours of fun and joy.

...probably not picking it up on Wii U though because I would never play it on there. It works the best on PC.

I love Minecraft, and I think I'd love off screen play. But I put a crazy amount of time into the Xbox 360 and Xbox One versions. So I don't know if I'd get $30 of play out of the game.

And as far as I know the DLC for Minecraft is all cosmetic so I have zero interest in it. I guess the wider selection of avatar skins is nice, and they'll have Nintendo themed ones. But I never liked the different world styles. I just prefer the basic Minecraft look.

The one thing that would maybe get me to buy this game again would be if a good amount of people here played together. The one thing I've never done in Minecraft is play with other people.
