Anyone else pick this up? I've put about an hour into it. So far so good! The touchscreen swiping is a bit more frantic than I expected -- I'm a little scared I'll press too hard and scratch up my Gamepad -- but it's definitely fun. And the dungeon crawling has a nice brisk pace to it so far.

I beat it on Vita not too long ago. Wouldn't want it on Wii U or 3DS just because of how frantic the touch screen controls get so the finger swiping on Vita just felt perfect, if still a little bit insane at times haha. Very fun game though!

Ah, for once I'm gonna be that guy and say I can't do those controls. Shame cuz I love the style of the game.

I got it. Haven't played it much, just a few minutes. Wondering how much depth it will have, it's from the Guacamelee people so I have high expectations but on the surface the concept feels almost inherently limited. Will be interesting to see what they do with it.

@Zero I ended up playing a bit over 2 hours last night. I wouldn't say it has much "depth" but it's still pretty engaging due to every aspect of the game being so fast-paced. Combat is particularly frantic once you're trying to keep an eye on 3+ different kinds of enemies at a time. And taking three or four hits can kill you (though you restart basically right before the battle). I was hoping for foes with a bit more complexity a la Punch Out Wii, but enemies really only have one attack each so far. That said, when you're in a battle against one enemy that attacks on a normal timer, another that attacks if you ignore it, and third that attacks more if you fight it, it's pretty intense trying to juggle between them.

The dungeon crawling is mostly just keeping an eye on the mini-map and going to the spot where you haven't been before. I've covered a lot of ground in just 2+ hours, going through what feels like 3-4 dungeons already. And the upgrades come quickly, as long as you're Severing as many enemies as you can (I maxed out the Sever Time part of the skill tree first and I think that's helped me).

It's good, it's not quite knocking my socks off, but it is consistently engaging and has great pacing, which made my 2.5 hours played feel like they flew by.

100% in just over 6 hours. I had the final boss available after about 4.5 hours, but I decided to backtrack and fill out the whole map and find all the secrets before finishing the game.

All in all, it's a well-paced and unique game that makes fun use of the touchscreen/stylus, which is weirdly rare on Wii U and even 3DS.

Is there anything specifically worth 100%ing it for? I'm enjoying the game a lot but I'm not sure I care much about backtracking just to 100% it if it doesn't do anything special for me.

@Zero I think there's a "bad ending" if you don't go back and get the three Memento items (I assume so at least, since they were in the ending I got). No real reason to go for 100% map completion or Secrets, though. It only took me 90 minutes or so, though, so I didn't mind doing it anyway.

Well, I finished the game. Overall, loved it, though I have a few complaints (such as how annoying it is trying to go back to places you have been to get secrets you couldn't access first time through... should have added more shortcuts.) Man how did you 100% it in 6 hours? I took 7 and didn't get everything. Then again I do a lot of other stuff in between playing when I game, so that might have been an hour or more of the game being on and me not playing.

I'm not sure if my ending was bad, per se, but it wasn't great. I had to bury my family and was then left with a uncertain ending... did I go back to the world or stay there with the dead?

I suppose I could go back and get the other Memento items, but I feel like I maybe had enough. Also I was super stuck on this one fight and gave up, and apparently it is required to get one of the mementos, so... not really that excited about the prospect of trying again. Timed battles which you have to do literally perfectly are not my thing.

@Zero That's pretty much the ending I got, so I guess the Mementos don't really change anything. And yeah, those timed battles were easily the most challenging in the game.

It's really just the one I got stuck on... a huge dragon-like thingy with like 5 buffs (including the one that won't let you steal its buffs) and 2 other enemies. The dragon alone seems to heal itself almost as fast as I can attack it. People online are basically saying you need to be absolutely flawless in execution AND get lucky with critical hits.

Anyway I think I got what I needed to from this game. If it was past me who had more free time I'd stick at it to get the better ending, but I have tons of other stuff to play and not enough time to play any of it.

So unlike a lot of other 3DS/WiiU cross-buy games, it turns out the cross-buy for Severed is automatically applied somehow when you buy one version, through My Nintendo or Miiverse or something. I just checked the 3DS eShop and Severed is listed for 100% off for me. Guess this means you can't give one version away.

I just got this on Switch and I'm absolutely loving it. It was perfect to have on my plane ride home. I'm not sure if I would enjoy it more with a stylus, but I do think I'm probably quicker with my attacks since I can alternate between my finger and thumb. Very cool game. It was a little out of my wheelhouse but I'm glad I bought it because there really aren't many games quite like it.

First Person
Touch Controls (Fruit Ninja with RPG elements?)
Creepy Music (AWESOME with headphones)
Unique art style (seems less explicitly luchadore than Guacamelee but still very unique)
Zelda inspired dungeon design (I can write a couple things about how clever some sections of the first dungeon are)

I could say that MAYBE the first area was a bit too long but I actually kind of enjoyed that. Can't wait to see what's around the next corner.
