Some good stuff today! Been waiting a while for Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice and will pick it up the moment it's live. I already have Super Castlevania IV on the Wii but it's long been my favorite in the series. Mario Strikers Charged is great too, but it sounds like the game will unfortunately not have its online mode--the biggest draw. Even so, if you have someone ready to play locally, it's still tons of fun. Easily my favorite soccer game (granted, I haven't played many).

Wow, great week!

Downloading Ace Attorney as soon as I get home, of course.

Jotun looks gorgeous and got solid reviews, but the other Nindies coming through the month also look great...

Mario Strikers Charged! Excellent game, highly recommended to anyone who wants something like Mario Kart but with less randomness and more mano-a-mano mindgames with a friend. The CPU is very challenging at higher levels as well, so it forces you to figure out winning strategies or you'll get creamed.

@TriforceBun I always hesitate to call Mario Strikers a "soccer" game, because the play style is way closer to hockey (which is fine by me!). Full-on body slams are legal (even encouraged) against the player with the ball, but hitting someone without the ball results in a penalty (in the form of the injured party getting a free item). And the enclosed field and 4-on-4 roster keeps the pace quicker. Put ice on the field and reskin the characters in hockey gear, and you'd just about have a perfect Mario Hockey game.

It's weird that we're getting Super Castlevania IV on 3DS before we get Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge. Oh well.

It's been well documented why it's the most disappointing game in the series, but it can still be a decent enough action game on its own. I'll download it.

And of course, Ace Attorney.

Somehow I didn't know the new PW was coming out so soon, this is a neat surprise. Not that I have time for any of this stuff.

@GameDadGrant The source in that link seems... familiar.

@Zero Yeah it doesn't seem like there's been much hype for AA6, or at least a lot less than there was for Dual Destinies. I hope it sells all right.

@nate38
Yeah, one of the tricky things with such a story-driven series is that every sequel pretty much demands that players play the previous game, which seems like it'd make the audience smaller and smaller, right? Plus, DD was kind of a big "return" of AA, having Phoenix back in the lead role and all. That said, I'm still very excited to play this new one, considering it's got the long-awaited comeback of one of my favorite characters!

@TriforceBun Yeah, I've read one or two import reviews that said it was generally of higher quality than Dual Destinies in its story and cases, too, so that bodes well!

In related news, it looks like there will be DLC (of course) and...well, I guess I shouldn't be surprised by the pricing, considering it's Capcom.

9/15 – “Phoenix Wright: Asinine Attorney” short story and 3DS theme ($3.99 / £3.59 / €3.99)
9/22 – “Apollo Justice: Asinine Attorney” short story and 3DS theme ( $3.99 / £3.59 / €3.99)
9/29 – “Turnabout Time Traveler” full-length extra episode ($5.99 / £5.39 / €5.99)

If you buy the game during the first week, you can receive a free character costume pack featuring Furio Tigre for Phoenix, a school uniform for Apollo, and a Trés Bien waitress costume for Athena. After September 14, the DLC will cost $0.99 / £0.89 / €0.99.

...So how "short" are these short stories, I wonder?

Haha, "Asinine Attorney."

Kinda surprised we're getting those since it seemed like a Japan-only thing. The DLC case being a dollar more than DD's is kind of a downer, but I'll still pick it up. Jury's (ahem) still out on the "short stories" though.

It came from the most reliable source on the internet.

Jeeeze. How do games like Ace Attorney sneak up on me like this?

@Zero

Same!

Tempted to grab this tonight. But I really need to get my credit card under control first. Maybe when my work bonus comes through at the end of the month. And after I beat the bonus case from the last game.

Hey, they conveniently forgot to mention that you need 23 nunchuks to play multiplayer in Mario Strikers Charged.

Well, maybe just four. But that's still a lot, since there are very few games that require them in multiplayer!
