Splatoon is Nintendo's unique twist on the shooter genre. Shoot ink on both your friends and environments to win the match! Players can turn into squids and 'swim' through their team's ink color. Players can also use their team's ink color to slow down enemy movement. It's ink or be inked in this chaotic marriage of third person shooters, de Blob, and good ole fashioned paintball.

@PogueSquadron

I switched to motion control and haven't looked back. It's so slick!

I loaded up this game yesterday for the first time in months! I don't know how new weapon combos were available, but it took forever to talk to that dude.

I only played maybe 3 or 4 rounds, and every time I came in 2nd on my team for points. Not bad.

@DrFinkelstein Yeah, I've pretty surprised to see that. It's times like these that make me wonder if the results are just predetermined beforehand. I mean, how would we know...?

@PogueSquadron They're a little better than just using the sticks, however they're not as good as if the Wiimote were an option. As was mentioned, the analogue control in this game also isn't as good as it could be, so that's a factor as well. That said, I don't always use the motion since it's often a pain to use.

Anyone feel like playing some ranked matches this afternoon? I'm available until 3pm PST.
04/28/16, 20:38
Any of you squids want to squad up right now? Let me know!
05/01/16, 02:16
@Octorockin Are you still playing? Mind squadding with someone who isn't that good and just plays for fun?
05/01/16, 02:29
@Mop it up

Yup! I'm totally fine with that. I'll set up the squad in just a minute.

Also, my connection is much better than it was the last time we played. I haven't gotten a connection error in a while!
05/01/16, 02:39
@Octorockin That's good news on the connection!

I'm heading into NW chat, are you able to go in there while you play?
05/01/16, 03:01
Yeah, I'll be in the NW Chat.

Oh, also, I don't think it's been mentioned yet, but here are the patch notes for the April 13th update:

http://www.nintendo.com.au/support/files/Splatoon_Upcoming_software_update_April_13_2016.pdf

It's got quite a few changes, so it's worth checking out! Most notable is that they've finally added some nerfs to the Splat Charger and E-liter, however they also gave each a rather generous buff for some reason, so they're still overpowered. Oh well, at least they've finally touched them. Then again, I'm not sure if there's really a way to balance these weapons without just removing them entirely.

With all these changes to other weapons and abilities, I kind of feel like rollers have now become too weak. I think it's time to rebuff them back to the way they were (or close to it). Maybe also add a little more range to the regular Splat Roller. After all, these weapons got nerfed way too early, mostly based on feedback from the demo where so little of the content was available.

All in all though, this update, combined with the ability update from last month, has resulted in an overall more balanced game.

Another splatfest is happening already. Sweet!

I'm voting for Costume Party.
05/09/16, 02:49
I dunno, Callie is all sorts of adorable all dressed up like that. Marie kind of looks like a maniac.
05/09/16, 02:57
I expect Costume to win popularity for various reasons, but I voted for Fancy in part due to what Chrisbg99 just said.

It was interesting how this one kind of just came out of nowhere, and the voting period is also longer than usual. The fest itself will also run longer than usual, which may be due to being the first worldwide fest (I think).

Man, Japan has got it all figured out.. Heck, this could be the NX.

@Mr_Mustache What. Is. This.

New splatfest happening today! I'm on team 'Night Owl'. Who are you?
06/26/16, 00:13
@DrFinkelstein

I joined Team Night Owl as well. I like waking up early AND staying up late, so it was hard for me to pick a team.

Anyway, it was an odd Splatfest for me. I had some really fun matches against Team Early Bird, but I kept getting put into games against Team Night Owl. It was frustrating. I'd prefer to wait longer in the lobby rather than play against my own team.

@Octorockin

Congrats to us! My stats were as follows;

Total Matches to Night Owl Queen: 33
Matches Won: 20 of 33
Most Used Map: Hammerhead Bridge (with 15 matches there)
Best Win: 71.9%
Most Points Earned in a single match: 1,402
'Top Dog' Percentage: 51.52% of matches I was the top player of the round
Final 'Night Owl' Power: 1,696
