I initially wanted to use this post to do a top ten...but I was leaving off too many great games! I think it speaks to the quality of the SNES library that most of the games in the top ten are better than ALL of the games on a few other Nintendo systems. IMO, of course.
Even the runners-up list is good stuff: Contra 3, Secret of Mana, Secret of Evermore, StarFox, Super Mario Kart, Lufia and the Fortress of Doom, Earthworm Jim 2, Killer Instinct, DKC3, Mega Man X3, ActRaiser, Tetris Attack, Illusion of Gaia. Not to mention the Super Famicom-only Dragon Quest V and VI, the former which would definitely make my top 20.
20. Mega Man X2 19. Super Mario All-Stars 18. Donkey Kong Country 17. Super Mario RPG 16. Mario Paint 15. Super Punch-Out!! 14. Super Castlevania IV 13. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time 12. Final Fantasy IV 11. Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
10. Kirby Super Star 9. Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinistrals 8. Mega Man X 7. Super Mario World 6. Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest 5. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past 4. Chrono Trigger 3. EarthBound 2. Final Fantasy III 1. Super Metroid |

@TriforceBun@TriforceBunYeah! The SNES library is stupidly strong! It's one of my favorites. Here's my top 11-20 if anyone's interested: 20. Mario & Wario 19. Tetris Attack 18. F-Zero 17. Final Fantasy IV 16. Star Fox 15. Wild Guns 14. Aladdin 13. Super Mario World 12. Kirby Super Star 11. Yoshi's Island And this is still leaving out Super Punch-Out, Pilotwings, Super Mario Kart, Tetris Battle Gaiden, and Goof Troop. I could include any of these without feeling like I'm stretching just to fill out the list. The SNES is so good! And then there's games that I haven't played enough of or recently enough to have a solid opinion on, like Mario RPG, Chrono Trigger, and the two Fire Emblem games. I'm confident that any of these games has the potential to crack the top 10 whenever I get around to them. |
