@Zero Right, but I'm simply saying that fighting higher-level enemies in this game likely follows a similar concept as it did in the original game. Plus, you also have more factors to consider, such as Skells, and... certain other things... @J.K. Riki Skells certainly have a risk/reward thing going on, but with how obscenely powerful they are, it makes some sense. Gotta make sure you hit that B button prompt so that you don't have to pay! You could also just bail out if you think it's about to be destroyed, and just let your character get smacked around, since nothing happens if they get taken out. If all else fails, get some salvage tickets. @Mr_Mustache Woo, glad we got in some missions with multiple people! We even had the full 4 at one point, it was nice. Some of those B button prompts sure do fly by, they can be tough when they do that! I gotta remember to keep my finger hovering over the B button for when those fast ones happen. |

@Cubed777I need SPECIFICS though. Which Hex, in relation to something else? Maybe some people hanging out nearby? I talked to EVERYONE BUT last night. Thanks in advance. (And if someone would like to help, thank you, too!) @J.K. RikiYes, I've heard you bitch about the Skells before, and I'm going to wager both a) you're not used to them and b) you probably didn't build your own from the ground up. I was using the free one that they got me, and I was actually thinking "I see what JKR was talking about.." and I do get lost when in 1st person sometimes, too...but then I bought a brand new frame, built it from the ground up, outfitted it with weapons that I wanted to, and I'm an F'n BEAST out there now. And when I'm about to die (pffft, not with Jetfire), you simply EXIT, and then you're on foot (as you would've been anyway), your HP should be full, and your enemy is half or more dead. Very simple, very easy. And I've read farther down, and I see that you've experimented a little bit. Dude, 10% is pretty big.. And yes, I agree, some of those flying things are monsters, but there is something stronger at play. Clearly they've got some Defensive buffs or something..so you should de-buff them. I can't do CRAP against Cetos personally, and I struggled with the Purgivants, too. I dunno, dude, nothing to get P'd about. Just outfit it with some better stuff. (Though I do think your "year and a half" comment is probably hyperbole.) @Mop it upYeah we did! I'll have my Skell ready for action the very next time we play, so that'll be boss. I was on foot a lot yesterday, and using my Baby Skell which had nothing on it. I don't even know if I knew for sure that you could buy individual things...I know, stupid, I just haven't dealt with them at all. That said, I'm all geared up now. Yeah, Elysia which is.....Gojira? hopped in for a quest. I wish he did another! Every time I go to itch my face or get a drink there is a quick-SoulVoice thing that I'm not ready for. Oh, man...last night....I was keeping an eye out for those quests popping up, you know, when someone else initiates? And I'd joined some before, so this "girl" (we'll go by avatar) Vanessa initiated a mission last night, and HOLY CRAP, they had the entire Bunny Girl thing built and complete. So incredibly jealous, and I couldn't look away either. Thank you, game designers. ANYWAY, she had like 30,000HP or something like that, I'm not entirely sure how, but she was CRUSHING the Final Menace thing, and every time I died, she was right there to scoop me right back up. I fear that they moved closer on the Affinity Chart with how many missions we ran (I think I did like 5-6 in a row before you guys came along) and how much of my bacon she saved, and I was volleying back those things every time her (or someone else) called for it. I couldn't do any real damage, but I COULD do that. SPEAKING OF DOING REAL DAMAGE, and I suggest this to anyone who hasn't yet; you can throw a slot on your weapons for about 20,000 miranium (at least in my case), and then do some Augments. I made two last night, a 25% Bonus on Front Attacks for my Sword (so when I'm Taunting them and they're facing me, I'm doing PHAT DAMAGE -- and seriously thinking, no seriously!!, that when I'm Taunting, YOU do a lot of your back attacks when we play together. So maybe you could do an Augment (if you hadn't already) for a 25% Back Bonus. I put that one on my Gun so I can hit my big move after the Topple for a good amount of damage, too. Pretty awesome. (And if you didn't know -- I didn't -- they ARE removable from your weapons, they don't attach FOR GOOD.) I'm working on developing a better one for HP back each time I use an Arte (ie: 150 hp per Arte), though its expensive in materials. One that is a little more manageable is the Crush: Gain one. Bust an appendage and you're awarded 1000 TP? Holy crap, I'll be full CONSTANTLY. (Its also through these screens that I really found out what certain skill do, ie: HP Rebound.) BONUS QUESTION: Does anyone know what Virus does? I do, but didn't, and wouldn't have guessed it. |

@cooliocuneoI just got a Skell and I'm now 130 hours in (after my 14 hour session last night). You'll be there well before my time, I'm certain. As for you not exploring the Residential District, I'm yet to go to the other areas besides Noctilum and Oblivia for fun. I've been to the other places for a few off-the-board missions, A FEW, but they're still largely unexplored and waiting for me. I've got FrontierNav crap secure in a lot of areas, but nothing really official has happened over there. Pretty neat! @J.K. RikiWell, have your wife build a solid Skell then. You're using Hot Garbage, its no wonder nothing is working. Or did SHE build one? If she built one, I don't know what to tell you. Maybe its time to oversee something. And how do you dislike that aspect of RPGs? Its..the best aspect of RPGs... "Make it your own," nothing?? I can't tell you how nice it is when I reach a Lv on the 0 or 5 with someone and they get *NEW GEAR*. RAD. --And aren't you Lv60?? I thought you said so.. How are you having trouble?? |

@gojiraI might've beat you to it. It only sits there for a second, and then the mission is still open (until we go out, or it is abandoned). If you took your time getting your rewards, you might've missed it completely. If you have to join WITHOUT hitting - for the prompt, just go to Join Mission or Active Missions or Support Missions. I'm not sure which one it is, again, because I'm usually the one initiating, and when I'm not I get that - in pretty darn quick. Mop it up initiated the last few we were in. @pokepal148Unfortunately, you're talking well over my head with all this. I REALLY wish I could keep up, but I've barely done much with Skells. I've literally only built my new one, and went out and squashed a few Lv14 Forfex. Gonna get into the meat & potatoes next time, and, you know, maybe start Chapter 7!.. |

We beat the game last night. Ending mostly sucked, but I suppose it's to be expected. The game overall has some serious ethical questions, and I'm glad Doug voiced dissidence at the end, but overall it felt a little too "Hey look at us humans playing God! Weeeeee! We can do no wrong!" The part that REALLY disturbed me was the "We should bring Lao back from the dead so we can punish him for his crimes. He hasn't suffered enough." That is some screwed up BS right there. That is seriously messed up in the head.I did like the cliffhanger-esque extra ending after the credits, though. That was all sorts of mysterious. I'm glad their playing God was thwarted by nature. Suck on that, self-important humans. Anyway, story aside, I really enjoyed the game. I still give props to the first Xenoblade in terms of characters and story, even if that DID end with "ha ha, you were a computer program the whole time, okay bye." But this one's SCOPE, man, it was amazing. I loved the world, and I loved exploring. All in all, two big thumbs up! :) Okay, now back to Yoshi's Woolly World where they only ethical misgiving is murdering thousands of yarn-creatures and pooping them out. |
