What are you guys going to complain about now?!

I really haven't played ol' Zero Mission in a while, though. Ever since it came out, perhaps...

I always had mixed feelings on remaking one of my favorite games of all time in the style of another of my favorite games of all time.

You should pick something else. The rest of us already have complaining about Sonic covered!

It's really good. It's a short game and they don't have the hard mode option, but other than that its a really really cool remake.

Zero Mission is something I absolutely without question need in my life. Long time coming.

I've tried to play Metroid before, and could never get much further than like 2 hours in. And yes, it was the maziness that turned me off. I never played it as a kid when we were first playing the NES. I played it a bit later in the mid 90's, when I bought it used from some game store, but just popped it in to try it a few times. When it released on VC I got it both times but could only bring myself to play so much. I feel guilt for never finishing Metroid. I'd like to do it one day.

So anyway, I have never played Zero Mission, not even for a second!! Handhelds obviously were never my thing so I never really paid attention to Zero Mission. It was only later that I even learned it was a remake of Metroid. Ever since then I thought I needed it. This was long ago.

That day is finally here. FUCK YES!

I remember seeing screens long ago of Zero Mission coupled with the knowledge of it being a Metroid remake and I was all over it. I remember the screens being very beautiful. GBA might not have had an amazing sound chip but it did have some very nice 2D.

ps. I had a similar history with Metroid Fusion, but I righted my wrong and picked that up when it released on Wii U VC and really enjoyed it. I haven't finished it yet but I've definitely put a lot of time into it and I think it's a great game. It's surprisingly long! I mean, I have many hours in it and thought I was near the end but I think I actually have a good chunk left to play. My only real issue with it is the music, which I fear won't fare much better in Zero Mission. Fingers crossed.

Actually, I think maybe I got a little stuck in Fusion. That may be the reason I put it down for a little bit.

I still have my GBA cartridge for Metroid Zero Mission so I'll stick with that, but it's a good choice for anyone who doesn't have it. It's more than just a fresh coat of paint, the world was also redesigned a bit to make it seem more natural and flow better, and some sections are completely different. It also has some new features that make it easier to control Samus and thusly more fun to play. Even if you don't like the original game, so much is new and different that there's a good chance you'll still like it.

I think it also includes the original NES version, which I guess makes it easier to compare what's changed, or is a nice bonus if you don't have it in some other form.

@PogueSquadron

There is a hard mode option. Two of the endings require it.

@carlosrox

Like Pogue said, this one is much shorter, if you know what you're doing, you can knock it out in like an hour. First timers may take 3 or 4.

I played the shit out of this back on GBA, beat it 8 or 9 times over the course of about a month, snagging all the endings.

Pro Tip: The real challenge is the 15% run. That will show just why it's the greatest 2D Metroid of all time.

@Shadowlink Yeah it's a short game. I just wish the hard mode was enabled from the beginning. Fusion was short but it was pretty tough at times. With enough Metroid under your belt, this game is a cake walk.

I'm so happy that Zero Mission is finally out. My cart has a dead battery, so I haven't replayed the game in years.

@Shadowlink
Well I definitely won't know what I'm doing. I'm going in as fresh as can be! My playtime will probably be longer than your average playthrough. I take my time playing games, soaking things in.

Very hyped for this. Though it's not actually the original game, it'll be awesome to play the first Metroid game in some fashion.

Wonder if it's on the PAL shop.
