This game is coming out very soon, and it looks gorgeous. Nintendo UK released a new trailer that sold me on it.

Plus cute amiibo functionality. Can't forget that.

I just finished all of the post game rewards and collected every flower and yoshi. I enjoyed Yarn Yoshi a lot; I pretty much agree with everything r_hjort said in his impressions. Some parts can get a little tedious (probably due to my compulsive need to collect everything), but overall this game is a charming and pleasant experience.

Just beat the final level! Really a fantastic game overall that I enjoyed from beginning to end. The final level was just great as it felt like a recap of Yoshi's adventure... and then when you land in the final area and that music kicks in and Poochie greets you. Well I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel a bit emotional Such a great tune that's almost bittersweet.

I never played the other Yoshi platformers between Yoshi's Island for SNES and this... so I guess you could say I'm lucky? Doesn't sound like anyone had many good impressions of everything in between!

Same here. I've played and finished Yoshi's Island, but skipped everything else afterwards until this one. (I'm not including Yoshi Touch & Go since it's an arcade style game and not a traditional platformer.) Anyway, I'm currently on world 5 right now and I'm enjoying every minute of it. Good Feel does it again!

Also, I've seen a couple of naughty things on the Miiverse posts that are shown while loading a level. (Hint -- rhymes with "Venus".) I personally don't care, but won't someone please think of the children!

People's gushing about this game made me keep Gamefly for one more month and rent this, and it arrived in the mail today. Looking forward to giving it a whirl!

It's not a must-play game, but Yoshi's Story is pretty good if you go into it expecting something a bit different. Yoshi's Island DS was pretty good a first, but quickly fell into poor level design.

@J.K. Riki

Cool! I'd like to know what you think of it.

@Hero_Of_Hyrule

Ask and receive! :)

After playing a few levels, I have to say this is one of the most charming games I've ever had the pleasure to look at. The level of extra pizzazz they put into every tiny animation is astounding. It's a beautiful, beautiful game.

The gameplay itself is also pretty great so far. Reminds me a lot of classic Yoshi's Island, which is only a good thing. I also adore that you can run around the world-select screen. I don't know why it makes such a big difference, but the feel of that changes everything. It's pretty amazing what a small difference can make there.

I'm pretty sure I will definitely keep at this and complete the game (unlike Mario Maker which I quit rather quickly) and I'm absolutely sure if I was a few years younger this would be the kind of game I'd 100%. Those days are gone now, but that part of me tucked away inside still smiles at the thought of it.

Nice work, Nintendo!

After playing a bit more, I am finding myself drawn to collecting all the yarn/hearts/flowers/stamps in every level now... Weird! A game hasn't done that to me in a long time, so it must be something special. :)

Friggin stamps are too hard, though, lol.

Some of the yarn Yoshis you can make are hideous. Some fun ones, though, like Cow Yoshi and Shyguy Yoshi!

If you don't mind using it, there's a badge you get later on that reveals where hidden clouds are. It costs some in-game currency to use, but personally, I do use it during my second romps through stages at times. I have very little to complain about with this game, but I do think some of the hidden clouds are a little too tucked away, and it can be annoying jumping at nothing in every inch of the level to try to find them.

@TriforceBun

Good to know, thanks! Speaking of which (and I'm sorry if this was discussed a previous page, I just got here) what do folks think of the badge system? I kind of like it. But I admit, I'm super stingy with my gems and rarely buy any, ha ha.

@J.K. Riki

I like it. I've only used it to find hidden clouds but I still find myself collecting any and all gems anyway so I've had full access to it as needed.

Nice that badges amass as you progress.

I have to admit, Yoshi's Woolly World has kind of rekindled a bit of my love for gaming/the Wii U. It is just that fantastic. I'm totally working through 100%ing the game, and the fact that I can play on the Wii U gamepad while my wife is watching TV or something makes it really a great experience.

Probably one of the best games I've played in years, and I'm trying to think if there's been a Wii U game I've enjoyed this much. Maybe Hyrule Warriors co-op, or the early days of Mario Kart 8.

Heck, I've even been posting to Miiverse more because of it.

We got this game for my oldest son (and me of course) as a Christmas present. So there it is, sitting in my room, Yarn Yoshi Amiibo and all, and I can't touch it. I'm pretty much a Yoshi virgin, the only other Yoshi game I played was Touch and Go (which was great!), but I understand that is less Yoshi, and more of a tech demo. I've haven't been reading much in the thread, but what I have, sounds like my son and I have a great time ahead of us!

@cooliocuneo

You will have an incredible time.

@cooliocuneo

I found the multiplayer in Yarn Yoshi to be better than that of NSMBU or Tropical Freeze, so if you're planning on going through the game alongside your son you're in for one of the best co-op games I know of on the Wii U

@Hero_Of_Hyrule

Hmm... Maybe I should try to get my wife to play Yoshi co-op then? Generally speaking we stick with non-sidescroller co-op games together, because our skill level in that genre is... let's say "different."

@DrFinkelstein @Hero_Of_Hyrule Awesome! He's only 5 1/2, but has a decent grasp on games. I also know there's an easy mode, so when he inevitably gets frustrated, we can switch to that.

Started this morning, got through the first world. It's giving me good feels, that's for sure. Love the visuals, and really loving the music.

Like with Epic Yarn, maybe moreso here, it's all about trying to collect everything in each level. I can imagine the game being too easy and too thin if you only focused on beating the stages. And since it's a lot of fun trying to do a 100% run, why wouldn't you do it, right?
12/13/15, 00:11
Through World 3. This game rocks.

I feel slightly surprised by that, and I don't know why because Good Feel has such a good track record. I'm not sure what my expectations were, but it has far exceeded them. The way this game kinda came and went reminds me of Wario Land: Shake It, which they also worked on. That game deserved so much more love than it got at the time.

Anyways, I don't know where to start. I took a mental note of some World 2 levels I wanted to single out for being really good, but the World 3 stages were even better. It feels like they are introducing some new mechanic every level, or using an existing one in a new way. As a result every stage has felt unique and fresh. Boss fights are deceivingly good too. They are obviously following the 2D Mario formula with them, but there's so much more effort put into them here than in the recent Mario games.

I really liked Kirby's Epic Yarn, but I feel pretty comfortable in saying that this is clearly a better game top-to-bottom. And the music is sooooooooo good.

Yeah, this game has really impressed me, as well. Super-solid, incredibly beautiful... good stuff all around. The multiplayer is fun, as well. Epic Yarn, though charming, was just too easy to fully engage me, and this game has really elevated my opinion of Good Feel.

Nintendo is kind of in a tough spot with their platformer pedigree. If they make one that's slightly below-par, everyone jumps down their throat, but when they hit their usual level of platforming excellence, few praise them for it (and some nitpick the games to death).

I played this game on Christmas day with my sister, which made it all the more magical.
