So, how are you liking this game? I think it's fun. I'm playing it in small doses. I'm on battle 42 of about 159 (for now). I already got the Mew from a special event, too. I haven't captured all the pokemon I have battled. I'm focusing on moving forward and then coming back to catch them all. I AM making exceptions for those pokemon I can actually Mega Evolve.

By the way, how does this game compare to Pokemon Trozei? I haven't played that one.

@Anand

Play Pokemon Battle Trozei! (Have you before?)

@DrFinkelstein
Yeah, I have it (and also have the DS game). It's pretty good, but I think that I actually prefer the more thoughtful, turn-based variation in Shuffle.

Well I've reached another tricky level (Roselia). Not sure if I'm supposed to use my powers or approach it in some other way, but so far I'm not coming close.

@Jargon

Did you do Machop itemless?

Dude is being a jerk. I went back to Delibird.
11/17/15, 06:16
@Shadowlink

Yea, but just barely after several tries.

I'm not sure I'm going to bother much with Delibird. Unless I missed something they're all just items you can buy.
11/17/15, 06:17
@Jargon

But they're freeeeee

I like to think of them as small cash rewards....which sounds silly when you can just grind Meowth. But I did already put a +5 to good use to S-Rank Budew.

Ah well.

@Shadowlink

The problem is that he's too easy to beat so I end up using all my hearts without getting through hardly any of my metro ride. Maybe if I use low level guys.

@Jargon

Ah. Not an issue for me, my main source of commute entertainment these days are the myriad E-books stored on my tablet .

Up to Machoke now. He's an even bigger dick than Machop. An evolved dick if you will.

Now I've run into a brick wall in Aromatisse. I thought catching and bringing Spiritzee might help, but no dice. Might have to resort to items, I feel like I've had about as good as run as possible with my optimized lineup and still haven't been particularly close.

@Shadowlink

The problem with Delibird is that at a certain point his prizes aren't really worth it if you're decent at the normal Meowth stage.

For example, assuming you can beat Delibird with one life every time, you're spending 1 life to get something worth 300 coins. You're spending 4 more lives to get something worth 800 coins. 5 more lives for 1500 coins. 5 more lives for 300 coins. 5 more lives for 2000 coins. 10 more lives for 3000 coins. 10 more lives for 300 coins. 10 more lives for 3000 coins. 10 more lives for 800 coins. 10 more lives for 1500 coins. 10 more lives for 2000 coins. And 20 more lives for 9000 coins.

If you can only average 100 or fewer coins in the Meowth stage per life, then Delibird is absolutely worth it up through Level 30. But if you can manage between 300 and 500 coins on average, it's not quite as worth it. (Granted, this is coming from someone who probably averages around 300 coins per life on Meowth and still played Delibird through level 30, so no judgment if you did decide to keep going with it... He should give you slightly better experience than Meowth does.)

I'm only up to Machop on the levels. I feel like there are a few Pokemon that I really need to grind, so I've been playing Ampharos a lot lately.

@V_s

For arguments sake I went and totalled up the coin cost of the rewards table + the 3000 total coin reward (30x100) and came up with 27,500 coins. That's a shade over 50 perfect Meowth runs (51.886...but lets not quibble), or about 83 330-coin runs. Tossing in the odd failure and averaging it all at 300 gives you 91 runs.

So yeah, dropping 100 hearts on Meowth probably gives you a better return overall. Not disputing that. BUT, a couple of other things to factor in:

A) Experience. I currently don't get any experience out of Meowth because my optimised 'team' (crowd control bugs + ring-ins) are either maxed out or don't gain XP anyway. At least on Delibird my Fire team is getting some needed training.

B) Reserves. I'm near maxed out on coins. So there's little to gain for me going for Meowth right now. HOWEVER, the items can be stored, so I'm effectively pushing my 'max coins' beyond the 99,999 limit, just in the form of reserved items.

That's pretty neat I think .
11/19/15, 06:55
@Shadowlink

That's true about the reserves. I'm around 60,000 coins right now, so that didn't occur to me.

@Shadowlink

You should do what I do and level up people while Meowth grinding. It might have lowered my effectiveness by a few percentage points, but I've leveled up tons of guys. Usually I'll take a guy from Level 1 to Level 6. The reason I do Level 6 is that way they'll be better than a maxed out guy with a lower starting power and will slide into my optimized team when appropriate.
11/20/15, 02:27
@Jargon

I've thought about it, but I don't need the added distraction of managing possible detrimental abilities and variable damage profiles I'm a lot more consistent with my crowd control team.

As far as power leveling goes, I can get 4 pokemon a week to about level 4-5 on a single Victini run, so that covers most of my XP needs.

@Shadowlink

I like to use Victini to take those Level 6 Pokemon closer to max. But to each his own!
11/20/15, 04:11
AUGH.

I just blew a Complexity on Spritzee when I meant to use it on Aromatisse.

UGGGGH.
11/21/15, 13:06
@Shadowlink

I finally beat Aromatisse by the skin of my teeth without items. Not sure the next guy will be doable.
11/21/15, 17:05
Wow. Good run on Machamp. No items, 8 moves left, caught first go at 28%. Neat.

Watch out for Latios, it's a timed escalation stage. Didn't realise it at first. Lucky it was level 1 so I killed it easy.
11/24/15, 12:11
Ended up getting the Complexity -1 from Delibird just under the wire. I'm maxed out on coins, but I've got plenty to catch and S rank from the last batch of Main stages and I still haven't beaten the last Main stage.

Timed escalation is interesting. I wonder what goodies are available and at what levels.
