amiibo is certainly turning out to be a big thing in Nintendo's eyes. Whether or not the rewards for utilizing each amiibo is worthy to you, Nintendo plans to implement all sorts of bonuses. It appears right now that every amiibo is meant to do 'something' in each game though games not featuring certain characters may have more limited uses or lesser-valued ones. We've had plenty of threads on here for amiibo and I'm sure that will continue. Still, I wanted to establish a general discussion thread that doesn't have a specific focus or thought. Anyone need a Zero Suit Samus? The box isn't pristine (a little bent in the corner) but it was the last one left at my local Walmart. I'll trade her for Gold Mario or ship her for $20.

I really wanted her badly since she's one of my favorite characters and Zero Mission is on of my favorite games but I've decided I don't really like the way she's depicted in Smash, especially how she's wearing high-heels, I mean... seriously? Ask any woman who's served in the military or an a police force if they think high-heels are practical in a combat situation. I know it's small detail but it really irks me.

I hadn't bought any of these since launch really but I was out getting a few for Dapper Dave for his birthday present (ended up getting him a classic Mario and Zero Suit Samus) and Olimar was just there staring at me so I had to go for it.

Now I have 4. Samus, Fox, Shulk and Olimar.

Honestly only a few others are really calling to me. Toon Link, Shovel Knight, Robin I suppose. Maybe Mega Man (though I have tons of MM figures that look just like the Amiibo.)

"Sci-fi" is no escuse for sexism! Besides the heels just look dumb! Also I just fired up Zero Mission and looked really closely at her little sprite and I did not see any heels, Samus wears boots dammit! Practical boots!

Anyway, by some miracle they had her at Gamestop today so I couldn't pass up a miracle, so I've got her dumb heels and all!

Also reserved my Yarn Yoshi bundle, yay!

EDIT: here shoes are so impractical that she has to have some dumb plastic stand that covers half her body in order to not fall over! WTH?

EDIT 2: I'm sorry Smash fans in general I'm not into any the character designs/poses for Smash, Link is looking down so you can't see his face, Samus is doing some weird "air christ" like it's the X games circa 1995, and Zero Suit Samus has a humongous piece of gross purple-gray plastic stuck to her ass. Fail!!!!

Luigi and flat-footed practical boot Link also have dumb plastic stands that covers half their bodies.

And why wouldn't Samus be able to stand in those heels? I'm sure she has incredible balance.
They look like, what, 4 inch heels? Nikki routinely wears those without issue.

Hell, she wore 5.5 inch heels all day and night at our wedding / reception.

Well I'm mostly just joking, I realize how silly it is to get it a tizzy over such a small thing, I'm no Arthur Gies!!!!

But in my mind though Samus would never wear heels to do battle, on a date or something sure, but the Zero Suit is thing she wears under her armor, no way she has heels on in that situation I don't care what Sakurai says!

So the whole point of the plastic stands is to make them match the Smash trophies?

I think that was the wrong way to go about it, they should have designed the poses to be good toys not just stay faithful to Smash.

I'm sure that criticism has come up before so I'm just repeating what others have said, but especially after comparing the Smash series Amiibos to the Disney Infinity toys and even the other Amiibo series like the Splatoon figures I just don't think he poses are as good as they should be.

I dunno, man. I think thats what attracts a LOT of people to them. Tangible Smash trophies? C'mon, stuff like that rarely happens. Look how popular that stupidly flimsy Club Nintendo Mario Hat was.

As for Infinity statues, the ones you posted are pretty darn static. Give us some movement, some action!
