Welcome to the official discussion thread for Splatoon on the Wii U!

Splatoon is Nintendo's unique twist on the shooter genre. Shoot ink on both your friends and environments to win the match! Players can turn into squids and 'swim' through their team's ink color. Players can also use their team's ink color to slow down enemy movement. It's ink or be inked in this chaotic marriage of third person shooters, de Blob, and good ole fashioned paintball.
What team are you? If you're team Art, just go back to Super Mario Maker…
Right now I'm 36 matches in on Splatfest… 69/99 points on my way to a Science Queen! Planning on stopping once I get there. So just six more wins hopefully…
Edit: Just finished Splatfest. Ended up with 43 matches and the following stats…. Didn't miss any recordings so no grey or vague estimates here. It's ALL STATS!
I had a hard time deciding but if Science didn't help develop all sorts of understanding of our world, Art wouldn't be able to exist (or at least have a much harder time of being non-boring). Art is wonderful still.. but I hope it doesn't win!
Thanks Octo! All I need to do for these stats to develop is…
Keep adding lines of which Stage I played, the two percentages, and my score for that round. Then it does it all for me. Great little spreadsheet. I'll share with anyone who wants it too. Maybe I'm the only geeky one though.
I managed to get Science Queen with a +7 So Hawt ranking. Really was a struggle at times. I found I had a lot of teams were the other 3 would clump together rather than spreading out and taking territory.
Man, Europe's lame Splatfest themes just keep coming. Tidy bedroom versus messy bedroom? Bah!
Nice to come back to Splatoon and be reminded of how bloody fantastic it is. Nintendo really knocked this one out of the park. The new bridge level is pretty damn awesome too!
I'm actually not surprised art won. Makes total sense. I was gonna vote for it but I don't remember reading the Splatfest was this weekend. Sucks, I wanted to take part (and play Splatoon lately, haven't played in weeks) and work for the art side.
Totally feel guilty for not having touched this game in weeks.
So... how much does your level matter in this game? It's sort of weird to me that when I play online the system doesn't seem to try to match make based on my level, I just always end up with a variety of people at a variety of levels. And I lost my Splatoon data so I'm back at level 1 now.
It probably does match to some extent but since friends can join friends and all, it'll just be a mix of levels. Play ranked battles though and generally you'll be matched with people of your skill level though I guess it always depends how many people are playing and if it can find them.
@Zero Level doesn't matter all that much in of itself, it's just that you will be locked out of certain content until you reach certain levels. There are plenty of high level players still rocking the very first loadouts, like the Splattershot Jr, so you don't need to worry much about that. Just go with whatever's at your disposal that you feel most comfortable with and start earning some experience again!
EDIT: Oh, maybe you meant purely in terms of matching. Then, what @VofEscaflowne said.
