General amiibo Discussion Thread

amiibo is certainly turning out to be a big thing in Nintendo's eyes. Whether or not the rewards for utilizing each amiibo is worthy to you, Nintendo plans to implement all sorts of bonuses. It appears right now that every amiibo is meant to do 'something' in each game though games not featuring certain characters may have more limited uses or lesser-valued ones. We've had plenty of threads on here for amiibo and I'm sure that will continue. Still, I wanted to establish a general discussion thread that doesn't have a specific focus or thought. We'll also use this thread for informing the forums about upcoming news regarding new waves of amiibo or new compatibility. Enjoy! Tell us which amiibo you're planning to get! To get the party started, here are the various waves of amiibo on their way, compatibility information from Nintendo's website, and various links to other threads regarding amiibo.

Yeah. I got out of the amiibo biz, but I'm back in it. Unfortunately, I sold Marth...but I'll find another one or import him. Gold Mario, on the other hand, is impossible to find for a decent price.

Has there been any indication if or when the Yoshi Yarn amiibos will be available for preorder? If I don't get a Blue Yoshi for my wife, I'll have hell to pay.

@Jargon

Nothing yet, but I would imagine we'll know a little closer to the US launch.

Some guy "locally" has a Gold Mario in Syracuse for $30. Have you looked on your Craigslist?

Just checked "bham." Huntsville guy seems to have SOME stuff, no idea what kinda prices / trades you'll get though.

@Mr_Mustache

Huntsville is two hours away. Gold Mario isn't necessary, but I would like to get one eventually...maybe. I only have Toad from the Mario line of amiibo.

In the off chance anyone is still looking for a Sonic amiibo, I have one that I'd be willing to trade for a different amiibo, or an eShop card.

Anyone know what the deal is with Falco? When the Retro 3 pack is released near the end of Sept., all the Smash amiibos have been released, except for Falco. Whats the deal? Yes, I know the four dlc characters have not been released, like Roy, Mew, Lucas & Ryu, those four are fairly new. So that only leaves Falco. Surely, Nintendo plans on releasing him.

I've read elsewhere that Nintendo might be waiting to release him alongside the Starfox Zero game, but it still seems wrong. He should have been part of one of the Smash waves of releases. Now, if Nintendo planned on making a Peppy and Slippy amiibo(who knows, maybe Nintendo will release those two and then include Falco and re-release Fox as well. I'm thinking it would make more sense to produce a Starfox Zero line of amiibos just for the game, like they did with the 6 Super Mario lline of amiibos.

It just seems weird that Falco wasn't released with one of the Smash waves, especially since he was available to play from the beginning.

Nabbed a Gold Mario from a guy on GAF. $20 shipped. I'll take it.

@ludist210

Wow, good deal!

@ludist210

There are plenty of Marth amiibos on ebay and other online sites for around $25, and that includes shipping.

Again, ANYONE Where the hell is Falco? When I receive my Retro 3 pack,(Rob, Duck Hunt,GameNWatch), at the end of Sept., thats it, all the Smash line of amiibos have been released, except for the 4 DLC Smash characters, Roy, Lucas, Ryu & Mew.

What about Falco? He is just a normal, playable character, didn't even need unlocking? I've read elsewhere, some think he'll be released when Starfox Zero is released. It makes sense, but doesn't make sense. He should have been included with one of the normal waves. I understand not having the DLC characters, as they came out just this year. Plus, I would think that Nintendo would release a special line of SF amiibos, just like they did with the Super Mario line, when Mario Party 10 was released. I would happily buy a SF line of amiibos. One would think, we would have already been shown a Peppy, Slippy, Fox, Falco, ect, if there was going to be special SF amiibos available this coming holiday.

I'm sure everyone else here is clueless as well, but figured I might as well ask, just in case someone has heard something.

Its hard to believe we are almost finished with the Smash amiibos. I'm waiting on Dr Mario, Pikmin, Mr Game N Watch and the 3 colored Yarn Yoshis to arrive. I ordered them from Japan. I've had Ganondorf, Zero Suit Samus, Dark Pit & Palutena for over a month now. Hell, I have not even seen or read any articles about pre ordering the current wave which is due out around Sept 11th. I'm not sure if I'll take my chances with the two pixel marios, or just order those from Japan as well. I would have ordered them, but they are releasing the same day as in the states.

I've found the prices are really reasonable, esp. compared to the money hungry, scumbag reseller, scalper prices here in the states. Those six amiibos would cost me, with taxes around $85 here in the states. I only paid $102, that includes shipping for the six amiibos I just mentioned. That extra $17 is totally worth the alternative...having to get up around 5am, so I can camp out for several hours with a bunch of other losers, who seem to babble & ramble on, and on. Then, after spending several hours in line, still no guarantees that you'll be able to snag all the amiibos.Yes, to me $17 is a small price to pay, and I get to sleep in all those hours, usually about 5 hours in total, while the rest of the fools are out there, trying desperately to 'catch them all', stumbling over each other, clawing out each others eyes out, the smell of old cheesy potatoes.

Thank God for Japan!

I have no idea whats going on with Falco. I try not to complain and ask them to release Amiibo...because I'm already buying like, what, 8 in a couple of weeks? Too many! Thats like OVER 100 bucks!!

So, Mega Yarn Yoshi, eh? Blah.

@Koovaps
Those are great!

@Koovaps

Yeah, those are pretty neat! I gotta figure out something REAL FAST because I've just got boxes laying all over the place right now. Running out of room..

The Mega Yarn Yoshi retails for $59.99 Canadian. GROSS.
When the time comes I might ask an American friend to help me get one cheaper.

Our dollar is awful right now but it's not that bad... Yet.

@ploot

Mega Yarn Yoshi? Did I miss something?
08/25/15, 02:28
@ploot

A Mega Yarn Yoshi would be amazing. Bu $59.99 is a tough pill to swallow.

@Koovaps That is pretty cool. Looks like something my wife and I would make
