Nintendo's favorite fighter franchise makes its first foray into the handheld world. Here is the place to post your impressions and discuss your favorite modes, characters, strategies and anything else related to Sakurai's baby.
Eh. I've found that it's good for amassing coins and gathering custom moves for characters. I recently got all of Greninja's custom moves thanks to Street Smash. Yeah, the mode simple, and the "matches" are over quickly. And I kind of like that. Easy to pick up and play through, and the rewards are worth the small amount of time a player would have to invest in it. But like I said..."eh." To each his own.
@WrathOfSamus777 This happened to a friend of mine, however that was a launch 3DS. This isn't the only game where I've heard of slide pads coming apart though; I even saw a couple of cases for Animal Crossing New Leaf. I wonder if some systems just had more loose slide pads than others. Also, the slide pad doesn't break, but rather, the rubber part comes off. It's still usable, just uncomfortable, and it's possible to (carefully) glue the rubber back on.
For most people though, I don't think it's an issue. The game is sensitive enough that you don't need to slam the slide pad to use Smash Attacks. And if you have a New 3DS, you can use the C-stick for those Smash Attacks.
I definitely felt like I was punishing my circle pad more than usual when playing Smash, but I only played it for about two months so I didn't do so long enough to find out if any damage was going on.
Well, after I nearly cracked from all the Ness fighting I had done as I pointed out in this thread here I think I've found a way to combat the little brat. And his wanna-be-clone. Check it:
Those last three are sequential, of course. So satisfying taking out that annoying PK Thunder and watching Ness fall helplessly to the abyss. Suck it, you little twerp. Suck iiiiiiiiiiiittt.
Also, I'm experimenting capturing video of my matches. This one didn't turn out all that well, IMO. Video is kinda blurry, and the audio is *extra* quiet. I'll see what I can do by recording from my phone - though I suppose I'll lose the super-stable camera that's evident in this video.
I'll try to post in the "Playing Smash Online Now!" thread whenever I hop on. I'm at the mercy of my kids' schedule as well, though now that they are older, my schedule isn't as erratic as it once was.
Big mandatory update this morning. Wonder if this is for the new stage?
EDIT Hmm. Seems the update is not only for the Super Mario Maker stage, but it also unlocks the Duck Hunt stage (for free!). Also adds the music for that stage to the sound test, as well as the tunes from Wrecking Crew. The DLC Shop has the new stage available, as well as Monster Hunter costumes for the Mii Fighter.
Super Mario Maker Stage: $2.49 ($3.49 for both 3DS and Wii U versions) Mii Fighter Monster Hunter Costumes: $5.25 ($8.05 for both 3DS and Wii U) Mii Fighter Business Suit Costumes: $0.75 ($1.15 for both 3DS and Wii U) Mii Fighter Toad Costumes: $0.75 ($1.15 for both 3DS and Wii U) Mii Fighter Viridi Costume: $0.75 ($1.15 for both 3DS and Wii U) Mii Fighter Hunter Set: $0.75 ($1.15 for both 3DS and Wii U) Mii Fighter Rathalos Set: $0.75 ($1.15 for both 3DS and Wii U) Mii Fighter Fox Set: $0.75 ($1.15 for both 3DS and Wii U) Mii Fighter Captain Falcon Set: $0.75 ($1.15 for both 3DS and Wii U)
Collection #4: (All Of The Above) - $7.74 ($13.53 for both 3DS and Wii U)
That was a nice surprise! That stage isn't all that great, but hey. Who am I to complain about getting another stage in a great game? Most of the time I'm playing on the "Omega" version of the stages anyway. So I guess it doesn't really matter.
The Super Mario Maker stage is good fun. I always seem to forget that the game it's based on is out. I should probably grab it at some point. Maybe when it's released on 3DS...
It's been a year already? Wow. I had good times with this one. Afternoons and nights spent on For Glory and friendly matches online, also taking it with me wherever I went so I could practice or play with my buddies whenever we hanged out... I have good memories of playing this back when I was keeping company to my dad, who was hospitalized last year, and I remember playing the demo for over 40 hours, after barely downloading it early when I was travelling to visit a girl I was dating at the time. The hype was so palpable back then. It's not a surprise that this is the 3DS game I spent the most time on and that it is so dear to me.
