Splatoon is Nintendo's unique twist on the shooter genre. Shoot ink on both your friends and environments to win the match! Players can turn into squids and 'swim' through their team's ink color. Players can also use their team's ink color to slow down enemy movement. It's ink or be inked in this chaotic marriage of third person shooters, de Blob, and good ole fashioned paintball.

@Guillaume You would make for a fine character in Kid Icarus Uprising 2.

It's going to be hard to return the Spaltfest tee after this one ends.

@Guillaume
The more Splatoon-related puns, the better! It'll be the Autoblots versus the Deceptinkons!

@Mop it up
Haha.

Blasters and Rollers are quite obnoxious in Tower Control. Why is there no way to defend from a blaster if you're on the point? And how was this guy sniping me so easily when I was on the point? I was behind the pole. I think I was in my ink though, which leaves one very weak, right?

@carlosrox

Both have bad range so you just have to take them out before they get to you. Same if they're on the tower, you can easily take them out without them touching you. And the pole can help if you're behind it but I'm pretty sure it still leaves you open with precise aiming. Plus being weak or not while hiding in the ink (I don't think it does that?) doesn't matter with a charger since it's basically a one shot kill either way.

Depends which Blaster. And which gun you're using I suppose. I usually stick to close range SMGs that spit out paint though so I can't really beat them from range. Camp Triggerfish gets very hairy as you near the enemy base. That netted platform just before their spawn is a serious danger zone, especially against Blasters. Timed Bombs and Sticky Bombs also devastate the tower point as well.

I find Ninja Jump to be one of the most effective perks, especially in Tower Control.

I basically realized that if I reset my save now I could use the 16 super sea snails from the July splatfest along with aggressive soft-resetting to get some running speed subs on this adorable school girl set.

Basically I've realized that running speed buffs and the splatling gun are just brutal together and so I'm going to try and jam as many of them as I humanely can into this set so my adorable inkling schoolgirl can become a terrifying offensive threat to all who oppose her.

Although the shoes I know are biased towards getting swim speed up as a sub so if I go that direction I can use that mobility for if I need to quickly move to another location and enjoy having that and ink saver feeding into eachother.

God that's way more annoying then it should be... took a break because I saw some friends online and got hammered.

Returned with a hastily put together set that has those running speed buffs I'm after and man, did that make a difference.

The two running speed buffs basically neutralize the splatling gun's slow movement speed, which means that I only need to worry about people coming up with me while I'm charging (in which case I'll just need to get into the habit of killing them with a less then full charge.

If I replace some stuff I can get a nice little setup with turquoise kicks and a golf visor.

Weird. I haven't found the running speed useful yet, though I haven't truly practiced with it, nor with multiple versions of it. But when I have it on I don't really notice the difference.

I hear it's handy for moving while shooting, like in a firefight. For instance, if you're using a gun with some range (Splatling Gun, Jet Squelcher), you can keep firing while backing away from foes that you outrange (Rollers, Brushes, Blasters) and splat them as they try in vain to splat you. Faster foot speed is handy for that, and annoys us Octobrushes.

I have noticed that disrupters are really ineffective against the Splatling Gun. Like even if you hit me with it I'll still have enough firepower left to take you out and then probably just try to lay low for a few seconds until it wears off.

@TriforceBun pretty much, and on the splatling gun they can be used to help get more distance out of a charge which is nice. basically the splatling gun relies on mobility more then weapons like the Jet Squelcher.

Why the heck hasn't Camp Triggerfish been in Turf War rotation? Besides for Splatfest, it's never shown up since. This is disappointing to me and I fear this new stage will go the same route.

An apartment complex, cool. Looking forward to it!

@DrFinkelstein
This looks really cool! Didn't expect to get a new stage this soon, so I'm pretty hyped up!
08/20/15, 15:39
I was expecting them to increase the level rotation to 3 per 4 hours at this point. Wonder if they'll ever go that route? Or if not, maybe keep it at 2 per 4 hours but offer 2 sets of 2 levels and let the player choose which one they want to participate in.
08/20/15, 16:00
Holy new stages, Batman! Love it.
@DrFinkelstein
I agree with you here. I've only played Camp Triggerfish during the last Splatfest. Well, aside from private battles, but that doesn't count.

@VofEscaflowne
Yeah, both of those are good ways to keep things fun. I also would love a randomized ranked battle. Going from Tower Control to Splat Zones to *sigh* Rainmaker. Going online and seeing it's only Rainmaker for four hours is disheartening.

Keep things fresh.
08/20/15, 17:24
Huh? I've played Camp Triggerfish a bunch. Bluefin Depot definitely feels like the least played map to me. That and Walleye Warehouse really feel under played.

Oh gawd that new map looks freakin' awesome. So how many are actually on disc? I thought we'd be getting that final stage that leaked pretty soon here. How many more are expected?

I'm not quite as bummed out about the rotation as others are, though I understand the complaints. I'm hoping once all maps are released we'll get a stage number increase in the rotation or something?

Finally tried Rain Maker. Didn't know what the fuck was going on that first round, but we still staged a serious comeback. I still don't understand all the rules but I think it's a pretty fun mode. I quite like it.

@carlosrox

Carlos, You've played Camp Triggerfish in Turf War mode a bunch? It's been in rotation on the Ranked mode just fine but it hasn't shown up on Turf War except for Day 1 and the Splatfest.
08/21/15, 00:53
@DrFinkelstein
Oops I thought you meant in general. Hmm.. I guess you're right.

There are definitely less played maps. I'm guessing it's a popularity thing? I used to see an absolute ton of Kelp Dome, now I don't see that as much. Port Mackerel has always been in constant rotation. Same with Saltspray Rig.
08/21/15, 05:28
New map's awesome. I always expected a map just like this. The verticality is much appreciated. Kinda surprised people said the map's especially large. It isn't, is it? It seems daunting at first but really it's pretty normal sized.
08/21/15, 11:12
@carlosrox
Yeah, the overall map size seems pretty average, but it feels bigger at first because of the layout, IMO. Really cool map either way, though! Tried it out in both Turf War and Tower Control, and it was great in both. Eager to give it a shot in Splat Zones now!
