Splatoon is Nintendo's unique twist on the shooter genre. Shoot ink on both your friends and environments to win the match! Players can turn into squids and 'swim' through their team's ink color. Players can also use their team's ink color to slow down enemy movement. It's ink or be inked in this chaotic marriage of third person shooters, de Blob, and good ole fashioned paintball.
What the what? I think I was just penalized when I got a connection error in ranked! My points went down from 56 to 46 after I got kicked out. Maybe it's always worked that way, and that's how they deal with people who rage quit and screw around, but I've never noticed before.
@VofEscaflowne I suppose it makes sense, and it explains why I had such trouble increasing my ranking that day I had all the connection errors. A bit annoying though, yeah.
Very fun mode but also can be very frustrating. More than any other mode, it's one where a team's coordination, especially in squads, can completely obliterate the other team. Unlike Tower Control, you're not on rails so a match can end VERY quickly when a team knows what they're doing. It's rewarding in a sense but frustrating if you're on the opposing side
When we squadded together Sunday night, we witnessed firsthand how easy it was to steamroll another team. We lost a couple matches...against a team of 3. Embarrassing and humbling.
We only destroyed teams in one or two matches. It's very tough. The majority of battles were long drawn out affairs. Real dog fights.
I don't know anything about Transformers, so I don't care which team I choose. Which one do you guys think will be the more popular choice? Might as well go with the team that has the best chance of winning.
@VofEscaflowne Not even a Transformers fan but that is fuckin' awesome and way unexpected. I guess other cool little crossovers will be coming too.
I just found out that multiple people on the tower in tower control speeds it up. I thought it only went at one speed no matter how many are on it. Very good to know.
@ploot It's probably because the only real exposure to the series I've had is being dragged to the Michael Bay movie by my family. I thought it was a terrible movie and it made way too much money and spawned way too many sequels.
I guess I'll go with "Autobots" since they have a less-stupid name.
No more Tower Control for this Octobrush user! Six losses in a row can really hit a guy's psyche (and rank!). I was two wins away from reaching S before today, now I'm barely hanging onto A+. Gonna stick with Splat Zones and Rainmaker.
Rainmaker is fun! It feels a lot like an Inkling's sport, with the Rainmaker itself as the "ball." It's satisfying to dunk it, too!
