Splatoon is Nintendo's unique twist on the shooter genre. Shoot ink on both your friends and environments to win the match! Players can turn into squids and 'swim' through their team's ink color. Players can also use their team's ink color to slow down enemy movement. It's ink or be inked in this chaotic marriage of third person shooters, de Blob, and good ole fashioned paintball.
@TriforceBun The single point loss for 3v4 was in before the update. I'm also not sure if I like the new Urchin Underpass, but I suppose it'll grow on me. I tend to like more open stages on the whole better than closed off ones, so I think I'll warm up to it. It's funny how the trees just jumped to the middle of the map. Their imprint was left behind too.
I'm digging the splatling gun, the slosher not so much. I've grown to love the Splat Wall as a sub, and it works great with the splatling.
Were we not supposed to get a new map and a new mode or something?
Saw the GX Urchin Underpass comparison vid. Surprised the change is so damn dramatic, and I'm not sure it's a good surprise. I liked the map fine the way it was, it could have used a tweak or two but they completely gutted it. And layout wise it just looks weird with all these ramps out of nowhere. I swear THIS looks like an unfinished version of the map and the old one looks like the completed one. Weird.
I'm sure I'll like it either way. It's also a bit of a shame that I think that was the first map ever shown and now it's been gutted. Should have left it as is. That long stretch with the gate was beginning to feel pretty iconic. That area always stuck out in my mind, even from the reveal.
Gonna try em out soon. Stupid Smash Youtube upload is a time hog.
Gaaah! Update is out! Aaaah! I need to try it out, like, right now! Too bad I won't have time to until this evening. Stupid life getting in the way of my gaming.
Managed to try out the Slosher just now, and I like it! Don't care much for the bombs that go with it, but it felt like a pretty good weapon to me. I covered a lot of ground and splatted a lot of people. Only got to play a couple of minutes of another match with the Heavy Splatling, so I don't know if that's for me or not, but man that weapon is badass!
The changes to Urchin Underpass seem alright, but I kind of miss the old layout. Maybe it's just a matter of me being used to the old version though, so I guess I need to play more before I form an opinion.
Still not a fan of the new music, though. I get reminded of just how much I prefer the old soundtrack when the last minute song kicks in. Bah!
@ploot Haha no prob. I felt bad we were just wasting your time. Yeah we were just messing around with stuff. You shoulda joined in actually!
Good way to find interesting spots, learn some of the more intricate mechanics, etc!
Haha I tried to somehow signal to you that we were just messing around. I suppose there's no easy way to do that. We should be able to do custom taunts like Smash.
In other news, Ploot and I enjoyed a heck of a great set of two-player Tower Mode matches. In the end we ended up winning more than losing and one match in particular was so stellar. We took back the tower (which wasn't super close to the goal mind you) with no time to spare and then overtime hit. We managed to hold them off long enough to win along with a shield finish by launching a missile into ourselves. Couldn't believe we pulled that off. It was the best match ever and if I suck forever I'll at least know that was a spectacular one.
We need to get a group of 4 or even 8 going. Next saturday? I can't tomorrow. Anyone down for some Sunday night action?
