I don't think online play works towards the "total hours of Smash played" challenge. I think it's only normal "Smash" - solo or local. At least, I'm pretty sure. I was able to knock that one out a while ago thanks to all the local multiplayer I do.

As for new trophies, I've had the most success getting new ones with "Trophy Rush" mode. I've gotten a couple new ones going through "Classic" mode on higher difficulties, but now that I've got over 600 that's becoming less common. I'd just grind Trophy Rush mode and see what ya get. Good luck!

Nice, thanks, that was far less painful than I thought. Only took me 5-10 Trophy Rushes to get the remaining random trophies I need. Now I just need to beat those two challenges, thus finishing the final two panels and I'll get the 4 trophies necessary to get me to 687.

Too bad playing online doesn't count, I have no one to play Smash with locally and it's not that fun to beat up on Level 9s by myself. Maybe I'll just leave the game running overnight.

Ryu in this game is so great. Love his stage, too!

@Jargon

Cool, congrats!

Anyone have issues connecting online with the 3DS version lately? I haven't been able to connect for two days now. I don't get an error code or anything either. Just a message that pops up: "A communication error has occurred."

For two days. Something is wrong, but I can't figure out what. Nintendo Customer Service wasn't able to solve the issue, either.

Is something wrong with Nintendo's server?

QR codes have been added to the 3DS game. You can go on the Smash Bros. site and get the exact Miis that Nintendo uses in their promos for the Mii Costumes. Lloyd will look like Lloyd, Mega Man X I'll look like he's supposed to, etc. it's a nice touch!

I just wish tourneys were in this version. Then at least we could use the awesome costumes online. BLAH!

Yeah. I mean, we can use the Mii Fighter online against friends, but not against randoms. Too much potential for trolling!

And just straight up gross stuff, too.

@GameDadGrant
But the tourney mode in the Wii U version allows Miis against randoms.
I've been having lots of fun with the Inkling gunner Mii.

Problem is I play the 3DS game more so I want the option there too!

I don't use the Mii Fighter at all. I wonder if I should pick it up? I dunno, I'm getting more and more comfortable with Mewtwo and Pac-Man recently.

I need more practice with Ryu as well. He's a good character, I just can't see to "get" him. Smash Bros. ain't no Street Fighter.

Anyone else notice the level 9 AI getting smarter? I'm facing a lot more edge guarding, aerial dodging, and general harder opponents than previous versions.

@GameDadGrant
I also noticed some connection errors on the 3DS version, but I thought it was just me. Hmm.

@Ponderus

I wasn't sure if the AI was smarter, or if the characters just had more moves and different physics this time around.

@anon_mastermind

After some troubleshooting, I found that after deleting my Smash Bros. "Extra Data" from the System Settings on the 3DS system solved the problem entirely. I lost all my replay videos by doing that, though.

Man, people are playing this game like no other. The amount of StreetPasses I get from day-to-day is crazy. I'm knocking out at least five to seven people each time I get tags. Have you guys been getting lots of Streetpasses for this game, too? Or is it just a Detroit-area thing?
08/17/15, 17:13
@GameDadGrant
I have been getting very little Streetpasses period! Hopefully that'll change when I go to Comic-Con San Antonio next week--I still need to get the last few medals in ALBW.

I don't carry my 3DS around much anymore, but even when I brought it to work and stuff I'd maybe get one Streetpass a month or so. I guess downtown Pittsburgh isn't really a Streetpass haven during the work day. I almost took it to the Final Fantasy concert a few weeks ago, but I've given up on Streetpass in general.

It's been about 8 months since I gave my copy of Smash 3DS to a friend, and I haven't missed it at all. I definitely would have skipped it if the Wii U version wasn't delayed. That said, it's an excellent package in its own right, and I do think it has a slight edge in the stage selection.

@TriforceBun

Oh yeah, you'll be guaranteed to get tons of StreetPasses then! I'm kind of jelly. Most of my daily StreetPass tags come from visiting my local GameStop and/or McDonald's restaurants.

@nate38

I'd wager a (small) bet that if you went down Blvd. of the Allies and walked near some of the students from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, you'd get some StreetPasses there. As I remember (years ago), a lot of us carried our Gameboys around when going to and from class. Just in case there would be an impromptu Pokemon battle!

Wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the students there now carry 3DS's.

I don't get very many Streetpasses either, and for this specific game I think I've gotten 2. Usually they're for other games like Animal Crossing, Pokémon, and NSMB2, though I also get a surprising amount for Kid Icarus Uprising.
08/18/15, 23:46
Yeah, I think Animal Crossing is the most StreetPass'd game. At least, in my experience. Other ones I get a lot are Monster Hunter 4 ULTIMATE and Mario Kart 7.

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS is right up there, though. I usually have between two to five or six per day. And it's not even always the same people, either. Game is crazy popular.

The online community is really thriving as well. There are some dangerously skilled players online. I like to think of myself as *slightly* above average, skill-wise. I'm certainly no expert, but I'm also no newbie. So someone would have to really know what they're doing to beat me, I think. But there are some players out there that just completely wipe the floor with me. Combos on top of combos, meteor smashes, fake-out smashes, and some crazy good (or maybe just lucky) counter moves that turn my own moves against me. Seriously, some of these fighters seem to border on pre-cognition.

At last I'm getting better at taking down Ness and Lucas. Those two are really annoying to fight.

Too bad the Streetpass functionality is so lame. I've had 20 stored up forever because I have no desire to play Street Smash.
08/19/15, 02:13
Hey guys, this is my first time posting in this thread. I've been on the fence about this game for awhile. A big part of the reason why is all the stories about broken analog sliders on people's 3DS's after this game came out. Is this still an issue? Has anyone experienced this from playing Smash Bros.?
