Every new generation a great dawn emerges where a new game in the acclaimed Super Smash Bros. series graces Nintendo's newest consoles… for the Wii U, that time is almost upon us. Nintendo is truly pulling out all the stops with this one. Here's the breakdown on what we can expect… (Learn more at the Super Smash Bros. website.)

1.) 45+ playable characters (new characters, returning fighters, or accessible via alt costumes)
2.) Releasing November 21st, November 28th, or December 5th depending on your region
3.) Tons of content; from trophies to levels to music tracks to items to pokemon to modes… it seemingly never ends!
4.) Customizable Move-sets
5.) Many control setups; Wii U Gamepad, standard Wii U options, Gamecube controllers, even your 3DS!
6.) Online capable (and encouraged)
7.) Check out Nintendo's 50 Things You Should Know about Smash Bros!
8.) Stages exclusive to the Wii U version. Some epic stages!
9.) Amiibo Support for all existing Amiibos
10.) Gameplay lands somewhere between Melee and Brawl


As you can see, there really is something for everyone, perhaps more than ever before. As I wrote this whole post up, I was listening to the Super Smash Bros. Brawl soundtrack and remembering the hours and days and weeks and months of fun I've had with that game. This will be no different and really will shake the Wii U community up in the best ways. Nintendo is on the eve of quite possible the most acclaimed game the console will have. This is a very exciting moment for Nintendo gamers. Speaking back on the music, you can listen to a bunch of neat samples from the upcoming game at the SmashBros.com Music Page. Be sure to check out Kapp'n's Song! It's a personal favorite of mine. The 3DS version is to have two-songs per stage but the Wii U version is meant to have that and more, even some songs from past games as well.

The release date in North America is November 21st and it was just moved up to November 28th in Europe. For all other regions you can expect December 5th. In the mean time, there's always the 3DS version which looks incredible in it's own right! You can discuss it in Jargon's thread here; Super Smash Bros. 3DS. We should aim to keep this thread focused on the Wii U version so that the 3DS discussion ends up in it's right place. Keep in mind that the Daily Updates are still being provided by Sakurai (for a few more weeks at least) and the best place to find and discuss those is Stephen's Super Smash Bros. News Discussion (Roster Spoilers) Now With Daily Images thread. I do my best to update that daily with the Sakurai posts.

Fuck is with the lag/not finding FG 1v1 (and the other modes) games lately??????

I never had this issue for more than a few seconds ever barring a few rare occurrences, now I'm having trouble finding a single match. I keep waiting out the timer to find a game. Is this my internet or the game? What the hell?

I've noticed how much harder it's been to find a game for a few days now.

@carlosrox On the rare occasion I'm playing For Glory late at night (past 1am Eastern Time or so), the only connections I get are with Japanese players. Who usually immediately drop, understandable considering they may not want to play someone halfway around the world. This has been the case for a few months now, anyway.

This is the reason I've barely played any For Glory. You can't change your region to Guam so people think I'm in Connecticut. Of course, there's often lag even with Japan from here.

Maybe, but that'd be a really quick and sudden drop in the user base. I'd play FG1V1 for like 2 hrs every night and it's only been a problem in the past week or so. I'm worried it's somehow my connection. I played at my bro's house on the weekend and I didn't find that issue.

Also, aren't players matched base on GSP or something?

Right about ready to quit this fucking game.

Why the fuck does every asshole play the same shit? Grab, grab, grab, midair gimmickry, grab, grab, grab, showboat like an asshole, taunt, grab, grab, midair bullshit, grab, showboat.

Fuck that. This is fucking ridiculous I can't even touch guys much anymore. Does it have to do with the ranking? I was destroying people for weeks on end, I was the guy who was juggling good players and hardly losing any matches, beating guys who had a massive lead on me, etc. Now I look like a fuckin' noob playing against these guys?!?! What the fuck happened??

Still having trouble finding a game, and when I do, it's against some showoff piece of shit. How disappointing. I really hope this isn't the end of the road for online for me, cuz I was loving this shit.

I don't even get mad at games much anymore but today I was right pissed. Not being able to do ANYTHING, guys making ME look like I'm fuckin' new at the game, that's just ridiculous. Utterly fuckin' obnoxious. And I'm not spending my life to do the savant level bullshit these guys do. I thought it was ridicuolus when I was destroying very good players, now guys making ME look like a chump? Fuckin' really?

That whole spam grab, punch then grab, block grab, run right into someone as they land and grab, and just being really aggressive with the grab is fucking annoying. Grab spamming is spamming too.

@carlosrox oh dear lord, now that I'm done screenshotting that for @ScrubQuotesX can't you dodge grabs? Like there's even a spot dodge thing where you dodge while staying in one place, try that.

Aw hell's NAW.

Well, yeah, I would, but that's just as hard to find a game. Clearly the player base took a hit or something cuz just last week I was finding game after game after game. It's been next to perfect for months. Now I find one or two games after waiting many seconds, and then I have trouble finding matches at all after.

And I'm not even close to a FG snob but I do like my 1v1. I wish the game had more options to play online. And apparently, more players. It felt completely populated just a week ago and now it's turning into a bit of a wasteland. And much of the wasteland is comprised of showoff Evo freaks. The GSP/ranking is all I can think of to explain any of this. If it's the rank, please bring me down so I can play with human beings.

Yeah it is sort of sad to me how packed Smash is offline and then how limited it is online. For instance not being able to play stock mode against strangers means I gave up online after a handful of times.

@carlosrox Yeah but it's 1 on 1 on boring flat stages! Might as well go play Street Fighter or something.

Weird though that they have stock in For Glory but not in For Fun.
