Splatoon is Nintendo's unique twist on the shooter genre. Shoot ink on both your friends and environments to win the match! Players can turn into squids and 'swim' through their team's ink color. Players can also use their team's ink color to slow down enemy movement. It's ink or be inked in this chaotic marriage of third person shooters, de Blob, and good ole fashioned paintball.
Can this game fucking not put incomplete teams into battle? I've seen both Team Sleep and Team Eat get absolutely wrecked on several occasions because of this already.
I missed the first Splatfest, so today was my first experience with it. One thing that I really like about it is that you can continue playing round after round with the same 3 people on your team. Of course, if your teammates stink then it's no fun, but for about an hour today I played with the same 3 guys and we did really well together. Now I'm really looking forward to the August update where we can form our own teams!
@DrFinkelstein My 3 player team aaaaaaalmost did the same thing on the same stage, but I just couldn't hold the northern section all by myself against four attackers. Was actually a fun challenge, though!
What worked for us was all four of them were going there but our two guys were holding it down. Which left me to clean up whatever I could. Sprinklers were my friends.
Made it to Queen rank for Roller Coasters! Might play a few extra matches later on but at least I did my part there. Also checked on the ink turfed for my charger...
@DrFinkelstein Basically the opposite of what we did then.
In other news: I am now a Charismatic Sleeping Girl! 99 more points to go!
I have no idea which team is the more popular one this Splatfest, and apart from a few bad matchups there doesn't seem to be a lack of players on either side. If my matches are anything to go by though, Team Sleeping is taking this one.
Determined on popularity and wins. Both are divided into percentages so let's say it's 49/51 for popularity, that counts for 49 and 51 points respectively. The wins take the percentages and again if 49/51, the points are instead doubled so it gives 98 and 102. Then the scores from both are added up so the 49 + 98 = 147 and the 51 + 102 for 153.
Aw man, I shouldn't have taken a break from Splatfest, 'cause now that I come back I've only managed to finish two matches out of six or so due to connection errors.
At the risk of jinxing it, things are running perfectly again now, and I'm up to 55 points on Charismatic Sleeping Girl, so hopefully I can get my top rank tonight.
Staying up late in order to support Team Sleep. Ironic.
EDIT: Maxed out my rank! I'm now an Eternal Sleeping Girl. Sounds, er, a bit on the dark side.
@VofEscaflowne Oh lucky you... The servers have basically gone to shit so I ended up having to pull out because I realized it would literally be impossible for me to reach queen before the splatfest ended....
@r_hjort Reports from waterslide players being matched against themselves... sadly I already was locked in with coasters because I wanted to test the N-Zap 89 last night and had to quickly pick a side... so I'm probably going to end up with 8 sea snails Again...
Hang on, are they really running multiple splatfests at once?? WTF!!!!!!!
@pokepal148 Ah, I see. From what I hear over Miiverse, I've gone with the less picked team this time based on people having trouble finding people to play against. When I played and got uneven matches it was almost always the other team who suffered, so I figured that was a sign they were less popular, but perhaps not.
But yeah, they're running three Splatfests at once -- in Europe/Oceania, Japan and the Americas.
