So, how are you liking this game? I think it's fun. I'm playing it in small doses. I'm on battle 42 of about 159 (for now). I already got the Mew from a special event, too. I haven't captured all the pokemon I have battled. I'm focusing on moving forward and then coming back to catch them all. I AM making exceptions for those pokemon I can actually Mega Evolve.

By the way, how does this game compare to Pokemon Trozei? I haven't played that one.

@Shadowlink

Nothing else I see. I shouldn't complain since it was the repeat that allowed me to get Mega Lucario in the first place.

Hmm. Might only get one jewel this time.

With an Attack up as an option, the higher scores are almost certainly going to be using it, not to mention the other items. Using 3000 Coins for another jewel is hardly worth it though.

@Shadowlink

Depends though. You can cash jewels in for hearts but you can't cash coins in for hearts. The only real point of jewels is to extend a match (sometimes useful for catching Pokemon that have a small amount of turns) or to stockpile hearts, unless for some reason you need fast coins.

@Jargon

Ehh. I guess. If there's something in the future where jewels can be traded for Mega turbos or something...but for now, eh.

Just cleared my S-ranks. Time for a break.

Alright, I have finally caught and S-ranked everything (S-ranks in the Experts notwithstanding)! I never thought I'd get caught up. And since I've still got over 40K coins, I can just focus mostly on Ampharos grinding rather than racking up Meowth coins.

@V_s

I find Ampharos grinding too tedious so what I tend to do is Meowth mining until I'm up to 99K (which also gets quite a bit of leveling done, especially for newer Pokemon) and then once I'm there I start Ampharos or Snorlax grinding but with XP 1.5 items. Then once I've spent a few thousand on those I go back to Meowth.

I haven't been assed with grinding lately. Finished up my S-ranks with about 75K and have just been doing my daily check-ins and weekend stages. Up to about 85K or so now. Also leveled my anti-Fire team against Victini in anticipation of the next megastone competition (I'm predicting Charizard to round out the 1st gen starter stones)

Also ranked about 3000th with an 28,000 point itemless run on Lucario which is pretty neat- Mega Mewtwo and Victini make for a potent combo. Should score that extra jewel no sweat.

Got my two Jewels from my one try of Mega Lucario.

Then I managed to catch Wobbuffett with a lucky Super Catch Power. I imagine most people are going to have to wait until more items are available.

Definitely want the Mega Speedup along with Blaziken's stone so I'll wait until the last day and Complexity -1 that.

So I guess most of my time will be spent on the Escalation guy. Yippee.
07/20/15, 10:01
@Jargon

Blaziken instead of Charizard?

Huh.

Ah well, my team will still do nicely there. And another Escalation match eh? Neat.

Man I wish I could find some wifi to tap into here. I'm not going to be home for hours.

The Mega Blaziken Challenge
07/20/2015 - 11,419 - 3,100th of 9,846 - No items. First attempt.
07/20/2015 - 41,660 - 226th of 9,901 - All items. Don't have time to keep messin'. Not with this week ahead.
Max Mega Gengar, Max Kyogre, Lvl 8 Aurorus, Lvl 7 Groudon

Wobbuffet
Beat in 5 turns first time. 6% capture rate… Not worth the Great Ball attempt. Luckily we have a lot of time for this one.

Cresselia
Caught on the third try without a great ball. That's right, a 3% catch rate.

@DrFinkelstein

I caught with a 3% catch rate too! Will keep going for the Mega Speedup of course but it's nice to not have to sit through the catch attempt every time.
07/20/15, 14:45
@Jargon

Indeed. A time saver.
07/20/15, 14:49
So serebii.net has already posted Mega Blaziken's ability, and I've got to say I'm a little disappointed if it's accurate: It's the same effect as Mega Mewtwo/Mega Banette but for fire Pokemon, except where M-Mewtwo and M-Banette are able to erase up to 10 of the same-typed Pokemon, M-Blaziken's effect only erases up to 3.
07/20/15, 18:23
@V_s

I saw that too, but there's another school of thought that says that's a slight mistranslation.

The alternate interpretation is that 3 fire types are REPLACED by Mega Blaziken- Potentially triggering another combo.

Could be useful in teams that rely on Pyre.
07/20/15, 22:58
@Shadowlink

I would be much happier with that effect. Here's hoping that's what we get.
07/21/15, 07:33
Level 35 Cresselia was a fucking curve ball!

Coins! Coins everywhere!

EDIT: Oops. Got so caught up I just dipped into my reserve hearts. Twice.

So this is odd. At some point I wasn't paying attention and maxed out to 99999 coins. Right now I have 99161. Not sure how I spent 8 coins or whatever at some point.

@Shadowlink

That caught me off guard and I definitely did not take full advantage of the opportunity. Oh well.

Cresselia is a pretty bad ass addition to my Pokemon lineup by the way.
07/23/15, 10:53
@Jargon

That would be Wobbuffet. The reward is 1 coin. That's why you've been thrown off.

I played that stage 10 times to round out my total again (Fink can use it to fix his.) Caught him on the 10th try with a 52% super catch great ball, so that was nice.

I found out that the coin thing for Cresselia happens every 20 stages from then on. (55, 75,95 etc). It's not really ideal because the pattern sucks and you do still have to beat the stage. But a few extra coins never hurts.

Up to stage 96. Little bit more to get the second Mega Speed Up. (I dropped one on Gengar to make him that little bit more potent BTW.) I should have 90K coins by the end of it. It's getting a little tricky now, I think I'll probably call it at level 100. 200 is too much.

Then it's a quick rest until the weekend, Victini for the mega team, Meowth to fill the coffers to near max, and finally my all-item assault on the Blaziken leaderboard.
07/23/15, 11:03
I've pretty much given up on Wobbuffet for the time being. I'm able to pretty consistently beat him with 6 moves remaining, and I still just can't catch him. So I'm probably going to wait until more items become available in the future to try again.

I also fought him 10 times in order to round out my coin total too. I wonder if his coin amount will change as he gets more items...

On a separate note, are all of you guys familiar with the "glitch" (or maybe it's an unannounced feature?) that causes L and upside-down T-shaped matches to hit three times instead of just two? I've found this really helpful over time (and it also let me get a bunch of extra coins in those Cressalia levels). But yeah, whenever you make an upside-down T match or an L match (right-side up; can be facing forwards or backwards and it can have a three match base or a four match base), the three-match vertical will count twice, giving you three attacks/matches for the price of two.

I most often see the situation come up when I have the chance to do a combo that would normally be a four-vertical and three- or four-horizontal combo, but if you make the vertical match so that it's a three, and the horizontal combo is flat so there's no matching Pokemon sticking out past the horizontal match, you get an extra attack which is pretty helpful. I'm pretty sure getting three three-matches is typically better than just getting one three-match and one four-match.
07/23/15, 21:33
@V_s

Hmm. That would explain why I sometimes get a double trigger on my crowd control. Ijust assumed it was part of the normal combo process, but it didn't pop every time.

Good to know!

Beat level 100 Cresselia. Had to delve into items- Attack Up, DD and +5. All but the attack up were free so it wasn't costly- Or wouldn't have been had I not accidentally fucked up my team. So I had to do it again, this time paying for all items . Oops.

Anyway, that's done, the second speed up is mine. Fuck the third.
