So, how are you liking this game? I think it's fun. I'm playing it in small doses. I'm on battle 42 of about 159 (for now). I already got the Mew from a special event, too. I haven't captured all the pokemon I have battled. I'm focusing on moving forward and then coming back to catch them all. I AM making exceptions for those pokemon I can actually Mega Evolve.

By the way, how does this game compare to Pokemon Trozei? I haven't played that one.

A new Special Pokemon was added today. And without using any power-ups, the best I managed was getting him down to about one-third of his remaining health... (at my worst I only managed to get him down to half health).

@V_s

I managed to get him down to a sliver of health, but all my top Fighting Pokemon are maxed out in level from Meowth grinding. I'm thinking a Disruption Delay will be key.

Disruption Delay, Attack Up, 2 Great balls.

8500 coins all up. A bit pricy, but oh so worth it. Base power 90.

Thought the 'Normal' type might be a bit of an issue as that cuts into any super effective use...but his ability is 'Double Normal' which 'increases damage done by normal types in a combo'. Depending on how literal the word double is in that power and how often the ability triggers...could be pretty damn powerful.

@Shadowlink

Exact same for me.

But is it really worth it? I mean, he's a Normal Pokemon so are you really going to use him much, even with that high power?

@Jargon

I edited. Lets see how the ability plays out .

EDIT: Just gave it a whirl on Meowth. Triggered the ability the first time and got a combo of 225, so that's a 2.5x power increase which is pretty damn impressive.

Unfortunately it didn't trigger on any subsequent matches. So the real question is what is the activation rate.

Interesting. I still wonder how much he'll show up if you're just a lazy Optimize guy like me haha.

Well, 16 moves left on Arceus with Tim's Attack Up and Disruption Delay.

35% rate. First attempt caught.

I hate myself.

I downloaded the game Friday so I'd have something to do over the weekend.

And now I'm hooked.

I hate Pokemon. I hate match three. But this is so different and fun, that I love it.

Ugh.

That's how it starts. Then there's running. And screaming.

I did terrible on Meowth today. I just couldn't get any of my Pokemon's effects to trigger. I've been keeping up with my scores for the Sunday Meowth over the past few weeks, and this is the lowest one I've gotten yet... I only managed to get about half of what was my previous lowest high score.

@V_s

I nabbed 2,900 coins! My absolute best!

@DrFinkelstein

What team?

I'm getting 6K+ in recent weeks with the power of psychic cats.

@Shadowlink

How have you not shared this trick with us?!
07/13/15, 04:59
@Shadowlink

Yeah dude! WTF! ;) My team is MAX Mega Lucario with other high-fighting Pokemon. Highest I have. I did use a +5 moves there because I have a freebie locked up. So subtract the 800 from that had I spent it and you'd see 2100 still.

What wizardry have you come up with?

@DrFinkelstein

I know one trick to getting a lot more coins than usual is to bring in Pokemon that allow for more combos, so Pokemon with effects that cause others to disappear work really well. Every time you get 3 or more sets in a single turn, Meowth's effect creating more coins is activated (and if Meowth's effect also triggers 3 or more sets matched, it'll trigger Meowth's coin-creating effect yet again).

The best I've done since I've started recording my scores is 4700, and I got that with Mega Gengar, Xerneas, Cherrim, and Heatran.

@Jargon@DrFinkelstein

I thought you people knew! You have piles of money!

Like V-s says, it comes down to combos. You need to get at least three combos in one hit to trigger a coin disruption- Which can match further and create more disruptions if you're lucky. So the goal is mass combo-age:

Two main teams:

1. Gengar, Haunter , Xerneas and Cherrim. Gengar megas quickly and erases itself when matched, they other three have Quirky/Quirky+ which will sometimes erase other matching pokemon on the field. Fairly decent combo potential.

2. The psychic cats: Mewtwo, Meowstic (f), Meowstic (m) and Espeon. Mewtwos Mega ability will remove a pile of one pyschic type upon matching. And the other three each come equipped with the mega boost ability which can build Mewtwo to Mega status faster.

Then it just comes to trying to get a triple combo without removing too much gold ffrom the field- The more gold left behind, the more chance of big matches when the coin disruptions come in (and of chaining on to further disruptions.)

I switched to the cats a few weeks back, I've been getting better results than Gengar. But to each their own.

@Shadowlink

I knew the basics of getting combos to trigger disruptions, but I didn't know which Pokemon to use to make it more likely. I'll try it next week.

This is the team I used today, and I only managed a measly 1600 coins. For whatever reason, when I use this combination of Pokemon their effects just don't want to activate.

Yet another Lucarionite competition.

@Jargon

What?? Boo!

I figured we were due to repeat Banette.

Anything else in the update? Or am I free to try and S-rank my last two stages?
