Splatoon on the Wii U

Splatoon is Nintendo's unique twist on the shooter genre. Shoot ink on both your friends and environments to win the match! Players can turn into squids and 'swim' through their team's ink color. Players can also use their team's ink color to slow down enemy movement. It's ink or be inked in this chaotic marriage of third person shooters, de Blob, and good ole fashioned paintball.

Sorry for joining up to play with friends only to pull them down with my level 5 sucktitude.

@Zero

You should feel shame for your low rank and punch yourself repeatedly in the groin until you feel like you have learned your lesson.

For shaaame. A rage quit in Splatoon? I've never heard the like of it.
But it's amazing how the weapons influence peoples opinions. As a Seeker user I love Port Mackerel. I can cut through so much enemy ground in a lovely straight line and get to their spawn zone to distract their asses while my team mates cover the middle ground.

The only map that I'm not digging is Kelp Dome. It doesn't excite me one bit.

Yet to try the new one.

To clarify, I didn't leave my team high and dry, I just quit after the match was done. But I wasn't much help when the enemy team was constantly sitting in the alleyways just waiting for me to approach. Roller/Inkbrush type weapons there can be extremely frustrating.

@Super_Conzo

I wish that worked for me. I've tried that and my teammates just cover the tiny bits of other color found in our zone. It's moronic.

Moray Towers -- excellent! Just played my first match on it, and while I got absolutely smoked by some dude with an N-Zap it was a very fun match. Splatoon's maps really impress me with their layouts.

In other news: Next weeks Splatfest in Europe/Oceania will be Eating VS Sleeping!

@DrFinkelstein

Reading your reactions to your teammates sort of makes me happy there's no voice chat.

@ploot

You should've been in the chat last night. It was horrifying.

lol, Paul knows me and swearing. On chat it's nice cause it lets out frustration quickly but yeah I would bite my tongue on voice chat.

And yes you should have been in chat with Fabien and I! I saw you jump in, was psyched, but would have loved chatting too!

We need to all plan a night of like Skyping and Splatooning.

Played one game with Zero last night, then he left. It was the start of I believe a 7 game win streak including 3 in ranked battles. I love the new level. You gotta be aggressive, jump off some high points and push them back.

It's a great level, isn't it! I expected it to be an all-out sniper fest, but the layout seems to work well with most weapons provided you can adapt your strategy in a good way.

The new level is great

It is pretty great. Frustrating because it's very hard to break through if they have a decent hold in your area. I have a lot of fun with all weapon types on here.

This game really needs a way to select multiple profiles, unless I'm missing something? Amanda and I like to take turns but we have to keep logging out of the game to change the user. Any way around this than just changing our loadouts?

I really really really dig this game but they've made a lot of really, really weird design choices with it. Once you're in the game it's amazing but the stuff around it seems kind of poorly thought out. I don't wanna go down that road but it's a bit frustrating when the core of the game is super satisfying.

@PogueSquadron

I kind of agree. The rotation doesn't always agree with me; either Port Mackerel is in the rotation or Splat Zones is, neither of which I'm fond of. The Squid Sisters are funny but don't need to be there for every boot-up, and you can't even have different files without making new users and connecting them to a Nintendo Network ID. It was a headache and a half just to have my brother try out the game on his own file.

What happened to the classic selecting a file from three (or more) after the title screen?

I'm truly torn .

Ultimately went for eating. I figure if I'm conscious during it, then I'm enjoying it more.

Inkopolis plaza is pretty depressing after Iwata's passing... everywhere you look, someone either wrote or drew something honoring him. It's beautiful in a way but incredibly sad at the same time.

@VofEscaflowne

Reminds me of this Iwata fan art...

Touching stuff. Reminds me of that war story about the two opposing armies putting down their guns and celebrating Christmas together.

Amanda and I are having a blast with this game. I wish we could play at the same time but alas. She likes using the roller a lot because she has a tough time with the motion controls and dual analog.

I wish there was some game I could get her on to get her better with dual analog shooters. Maybe I'd have to get her playing geometry wars or something.
