Welcome to the official discussion thread for Splatoon on the Wii U!
To start, please add this game to your log, add it to your collection (if applicable), and (when you are ready) rate it using the link above!
Splatoon is Nintendo's unique twist on the shooter genre. Shoot ink on both your friends and environments to win the match! Players can turn into squids and 'swim' through their team's ink color. Players can also use their team's ink color to slow down enemy movement. It's ink or be inked in this chaotic marriage of third person shooters, de Blob, and good ole fashioned paintball.
@Mr_Mustache From what I remember, it only happened to us when we were three players, and only on that particular stage, but it might all be circumstantial.
Well, my copy of MK64 definitely has the super fast Skyscraper you're referring to. More than two players and you were more focused on your racing lines than shooting someone with a turtle shell.
I really want Splatoon but I dont have the cash flow! Well, I have a $25 GameStop gift card but that won't cover it.
I really like Splatoon a lot. But I feel like if I told the other kids that I was playing Splatoon they might not think it was all that great. Because it’s Nintendo, and they think Nintendo is for kids. And it doesn’t have blood and guts. And even if it was fun, they wouldn’t admit it. Because they want to seem more grown up. But I don’t care, because Nintendo games are adorable. And fun. Especially this one.

I liked online play the most, because you get to have a team. Which is great. I'm not the best player out there, and having a team I can rely on is great. I really like that. But it's kind of a personal thing. I'd rather not get into it.
Yup, speeds were crazy on Skyscraper with three players. I never thought of it as a glitch, just that the game would chug on four players but would do normal speeds on three players, but maybe it was a glitch.
@Jargon Like @Abdooooo and @ludist210, I remember the speed picking up first at three players, which is why I thought of it as a glitch, I guess. Would love to know what causes it though.
Couple of online battles with Chrisbg99. Fun stuff, I was on the losing team too often tho. Have to stop freaking out every time I get ambushed. I'll get more play time later today. EXCITE!
EDIT: LOVE that punchy drum rhythm when you first launch the game.
Put in 5 hours or so tonight both multiplayer and single player.
Multi is just as fun as the test demo was. Though I wish they'd allow more stages rather than just the 2 they have. Hopefully that'll open up as things go.
Single player is also fun. Overall pretty simple but entertaining and kinda funny.
Should be picking up my copy in a few hours. I'll stop by the store to see if they got the 3 pack in... though not holding my breath. EB said they're getting the individual ones but as they're closing the location here today, I don't expect much stock. Wal-Mart... well yeah.
@chrisbg99 *sobbing* did you even notice that I had joined you for about 6 games? I was able to join your game no problem but there is just no way to say HI like in the MK8 lobby. I guess there was no indication on your end.
