amiibo is certainly turning out to be a big thing in Nintendo's eyes. Whether or not the rewards for utilizing each amiibo is worthy to you, Nintendo plans to implement all sorts of bonuses. It appears right now that every amiibo is meant to do 'something' in each game though games not featuring certain characters may have more limited uses or lesser-valued ones. We've had plenty of threads on here for amiibo and I'm sure that will continue. Still, I wanted to establish a general discussion thread that doesn't have a specific focus or thought. I checked out the amiibo in a few stores in Tokyo and it didn't seem much better there, at least at the stores I went to. They only seemed to have the common ones and when I asked for Shulk, no dice.

I actually just walked in at EB this morning and casually picked up a gold Mario amiibo. Had no idea they were even getting it. No pre-orders on it, just on the shelf.

TONS of Gold Mario at Toys R Us. Anyone need one?

Crazy how Gold Mario is showing up everywhere now. I'm kinda let down--I mainly picked mine up for trading purposes. Not to scalp, but a straight up 1:1 amiibo trade if I missed out on someone I wanted (Ness!).

I think we have a bunch right now because it JUST released here in Canada, and the Walmart exclusivity was only in the U.S.

Just grabbed Toad. I know he isn't supposed to be rare, but this was the first time I've seen him in the wild. I'm now up to a whopping 2 (Mario came with MP10).

Target.com has their Wave 4 pages up. They could go live any time.

I might try to double back my efforts while likely picking up spares for people of I can. But everyone keep an eye out!

Is Ness excluded from sales like these of Wave 4 due to GameStop's (completely flubbed) exclusivity deal? Or will this somehow include Ness as well?

No Ness. Ness is solely Gamestop (or anywhere when looking overseas).

Best Buy Canada's page has Wave 4 up, but not live. I have it on alert, but I feel like the page will explode when they finally become available!
