Why not sign up for a (free) account?

Love that I bought Lego Batman at full price four days ago. Sigh.

Pretty good week for Wii U. Affordable Space Adventures is getting good press, and two decent DS games.

I might actually give Pokemon Rumble World a download. I had a bit of mindless fun with the original WiiWare Pokemon Rumble, and apparently the F2P elements aren't too terrible.

::continues rant that Zero Mission isn't out in North America:: It's out everywhere else by now right? Even as recently as a couple weeks ago? I mean, it's not even my favorite Metroid game or anything (too short, too easy mostly, a little too handholdy), but I want to freaking play it.

I've played every Metroid game in the last calendar year except for Zero Mission (and Metroid 2 which I played semi recently). Might as well finish it off. Come on Nintendo let's see it!

Also, I like Pokemon Shuffle, but I don't think I quite understand how it works with catch rate and all that.

I bought Affordable Space Adventures so I'll give some impressions on that whenever I get around to playing it. $20 is on the high end for an indie game but it looks cool and it sounds like it actually makes good use of the GamePad.

Super Spring Sale games:

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker: $27.99
Pikmin 3: $41.99
Golden Sun $5.59
Chariot $10.49
A World of Keflings $6.99
CastleStorm $6.99
Sportsball $7.00
F-Zero: Maximum Velocity $4.89

Also a bunch of 3DS eShop games but you have to check the 3DS eShop for the prices...

@TeamBrian1020

I think you're, like, allowed to go to Toys R Us right now and steal a LEGO set valued at $9.99 or less. They plan for that sort of stuff.

Does Wario Ware Touched have any sort of local multiplayer? Are these dual screen games even going to work on Wii U that well? I'm so skeptical.

@Mr_Mustache Good to know!

@PogueSquadron
Ah OK my brother keeps accidentally thinking it's out but I'm guessing that's due to other territories.

I got Aria Of Sorrow and Metroid Fusion, both which I've played pretty small amounts of on the DS. Playing them on my couch/TV with good controls is AWESOME. I've been totally taken by these two games, especially in the wake of modern gaming. Also, the GBA VC seems to be the best VC Nintendo's ever done.

I'm frothing at the mouth for Zero Mission. I never played that at all and also never got far in Metroid 1 (I've tried a few times).

More GBA, more handheld games!! Now someone like me can finally enjoy these games!

@PogueSquadron

Catch rate depends on how many extra turns you have left over to beat the puzzle. The more turns left, the higher your percentage of catching the Pokemon. Each Pokemon is different in terms of how difficult it is to catch though, so some Pokemon are easy to catch even with few turns left over and some are hard even with many.

I bought Yoshi Touch 'n Go.

But not on the VC.

I wish these sales weren't so weak. How about half hour for some years old games Nintendo? Is that too much to ask. I'd love to grab Fire Emblem Awakening.

There is absolutely no good reason for me to buy the Yoshi and Wario DS games on VC, none. I have those games. On DS.

Yep.

*buys anyway, just too curious to see how the DS experience translates*

You could have been doing this years ago on GameCube.

@GameDadGrant
I actually used to have the Gameboy player for GC and it was pretty awesome, but I wasn't as into the idea at the time. Like I said, jt makes more sense to me today with the current state of gaming. Plus the VC is so much better anyway. Gameboy Player couldn't fill the screen like the VC does if I'm not mistaken.

Oh man, Game Boy Player, that takes me back. I think it had screen borders, but I can't remember for sure. I think it also had some adjustable brightness settings, since early GBA games were extra bright to make up for the original model's dark screen.

Yeah, I dunno. I do like having my DS games digitally, but the experience for this week's selection is...hmm. It's tough to enjoy on my TV. They're still fun and the amount of customization for controls/display does help with that.

@carlosrox

Right, the Gameboy Player has a "normal" screen size and a "larger" screen size for Gameboy/Gameboy Advance games, so you can't have them full-screen. The "large" option is pretty close though, and with the standard "4:3" TVs back then, you'd barely notice the borders.

But yeah, the VC version I can see as being the better option, what with the various screen options, fully customizable controls, save states, Miiverse Communities, and even off-TV play. (though I suppose you could do off-TV back in the day with a GBA anyway, but...y'know. This is different, lulz)

@nate38

There wasn't a brightness selector in the GBP hardware - brightness had to adjusted on the software level in games specifically designed for it. For example, there were brightness settings in a menu option for Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, which gave you optimal colors/shading depending on if you were using an original Gameboy Advance, a GPA SP, or if you were using the Gameboy Player.

Later games were able to automatically detect what hardware was being used, and thus automatically adjust the visuals to suit whatever system you were using to play. I remember Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 being the first game I noticed that did that. I'm pretty sure all that "NES Classics" games that got (re)released on GBA also had that software solution, but don't quote me on that.
