Some things in life are inevitable. Death. Taxes. The moon falling from the sky and obliterating the world. And of course, remakes of popular video games.
With the recent announcement of Majora's Mask 3D, Nintendo manages to cover the entire list. (Unless your video game prices don't include sales tax, in which case, lucky you.)
Thankfully, it seems that this will be no lazy remake. According to a recent interview with Eiji Aonuma, work on Majora's Mask 3D began in June 2011 shortly after development on Ocarina of Time 3D wrapped up.
With any luck, this means we'll be getting Majora's Mask 'Master Quest'. Feel free to post any new info in this thread as it comes to light.
After all of these years and a few false starts, Hinph has finally collected all the masks and finished Majora's Mask! There's a lot I really liked about the game, but the truth is that it will never be among my top favorites of the series... just a little too much about it that I find repetitive and frustrating. Still, it's nice to have it under my belt, it was a great game to break my New 3DS in with, and I liked it well enough to likely revisit it at some later point in my life.
I can't tell if you're making fun of him or if you agree. You never could save whenever you wanted in Majora's Mask. New quill statues have been added, so if anything you can suddenly save more often than in the original. And either way, it's not a huge pain. Once you get to the Swamp, a save point is always one ocarina song away
I'll just leave my most recent Miiverse post right here...
Though I took it down immediately because I didn't want to get flagged. I received an infringement of the rules notice early on in the Miiverse timeline when I referenced having to pee right at an intense moment of gaming and didn't want to stop. Totally innocent but you can't mess around with those mods. But now it's here for all of it's accidental glory.
@pokepal148 Technically you can by playing the song that warps you to the save spot. Takes the same amount of time as the original and doesn't reset the cycle.
For some reason I was under the impression that this game ran at 60fps. When I played it at the store, this wasn't the case. Does Clock Town just run slowly or something?
My charger is dead and now I can't play this. RAAAAARRRRGH
I was doing Snowhead, before this happened, and having a ton of fun. I've been specially fond of the Ocarina this time, since I can switch the instruments with the other forms. Now I can play my national anthem on Deku Pipes and "Garota de Ipanema" on the Drums of Sleep (I have like 60 hours of playtime in OoT 3D, only dabbling with the instrument)!
This game is great. The only downside is that it's pretty difficult to play it and not get too invested or zone out, probably because of the rush of multitasking due to the time limit. The ocarina is a good way to boot it up and play for a few short moments as a light distraction.
I don't recall if it was claimed that the game ran in 60fps. It'd be cool if it did, but I don't remember anyone saying that was confirmed for this game.
I'm playing this on 3DS using the restoration patch and I'm just about to hit the Great Bay temple. This game is a freaking hoot once you remove like half of the weird changes from the 3DS version. Holy shit.
@DrFinkelstein it's a mod for the 3DS version of Majora's Mask that undoes some of the changes the 3DS version made (Zora swimming, the inverted song of time, and Deku Link's movement are the big ones) adds the option to save by playing the Song of Time like in the original, and also adds some Quality of life improvements like mapping the transformation masks to the D-pad.
