Through all the stories and all the timelines found in the Zelda series... nobody saw this coming. Koei Tecmo and Nintendo team up to take the Dynasty Warriors formula, toss in a lot of Zelda-franchise fan service, and blend that stuff together in a funky mish-mash of Zelda lore that only the Wind Fish could dream up. That game is called Hyrule Warriors.

I was admittedly hesitant on this title upon first announcement. I had no idea what the Dynasty Warriors franchise was all about. I knew I loved Zelda. It wasn't until the excellent Nintendo Direct (embedded below) which sold me on the idea. I'm seeing a lot of reviews, which started coming in today, and they seem to agree that this isn't much of a Zelda game. I have to point out, the name borrows the Warriors from Dynasty Warriors and not Zelda. This alone helps me see what Koei Tecmo and Nintendo were aiming for. This isn't going to be a Zelda main-line game nor is it striving to be. For what it's goals are, and for what Nintendo has contributed to it, I'm pretty excited myself and now there's less than 10 days remaining. The game releases on September 26th, 2014.

Fun Facts
1.) Sends Link and 12 other playable characters from various Zelda universes into other universes. Mixing things up!
2.) Loaded with various locales, enemies, bosses, items, and music from throughout the Legend of Zelda series.
3.) Series offers plenty of DLC options (detailed below).
4.) Tons of combos and special moves for each character.
5.) 2-player Co-Op (though I hear it's pretty hard on the Wii U processing)
6.) Unique 'Adventure Mode' taking players back into the NES' The Legend of Zelda for a mix of challenges and adventure! (at least on the map)

Does the game load slower now, or is it just me? Before the first half seemed to move at a decent clip, then at half-way the bar would move all the way through. Before I would get to Link picking up the Triforce and be able to go, now I'm watching the enemy come back and hit Link holding it...

Whew! Thought it was just me! Guess it's all the additional DLC causing the extra loading.

So, I finally got all the weapons on the first adventure mode map, so now it's off to unlocking the Master Sword. Last one I had to get was the Lvl 3 Summoning Gate. When I first looked into it, a number of folks said it was a really weak weapon. ... how wrong they are. It's ridonkulously destructive. I like it far above Lana's other weapons.

I think that's for just the Termina map...right? Although I haven't tried any other maps yet. That would kinda stink if the loading was longer across the board for DLC buyers.

@TriforceBun I've been experiencing the longer load times even with the first adventure mode map.
02/08/15, 02:29
I was hoping it was just me but yeah, the loading does seem slower. I've also noticed a bunch of visual glitches where certain attacks don't show up properly. Kinda weird, the game ran fine until this update. Of course things still play fine but hopefully these issues get patched out somehow.

@TriforceBun
I've had it load slow across all modes. Haven't seen any visual glitches, though.

@missypissy

It's nothing too bad. Mostly stuff like Zelda's bow not showing up for special attacks or Fi's Triforce charge attack not showing up. They still perform as they should so I guess it doesn't matter too much. Just odd to see the game take this path after the update.

New ability to look out for with this new update: Hasty Attacks. It's locked with a 4000 kill skill but wow, it's so good.

@VofEscaflowne
Had a rod for Link drop with 2 x4000 kill skills (and 1 x25000) and both didn't get me that. One was Focus+ and the other was Special+.

Think I'm going to work on first getting all the gold spiders in the main story mode (I'm sitting at 43 currently). Then just slowly work my way back through Adventure mode one at a time.

BUBLIN INFIGHTING!!!!!!

Man, Rupee gathering is insane with this new patch.

That's on a 6 minute time limit too.
02/10/15, 02:21
@VofEscaflowne

What's the new patch do in regards to rupees?
02/10/15, 05:06
@DrFinkelstein

There's a potion you can craft that increases the amount of Rupees enemies drop. Couple that with a Rupee+ weapon and the drops are insane. I didn't even know enemies could drop golden ones!
02/10/15, 06:43
Apparently what happened with that bublin infighting image is the generic Hylian soldiers got replaced by bublins. I was wondering why some of the bublins weren't being affected by my sword.

@VofEscaflowne
That's the mission I run for farming. Tested out a couple of potions on it, Rupee one is great on it as is the higher quality material drop (got 1 Gold from Zelda and a ton of Silvers).

EXP potion, however, was shit. Even with +Exp weapon I couldn't get a level 19 character 1 level in there.
02/10/15, 16:48
@missypissy

I wonder if the exp is lower on those type of levels though. I've seen people a couple of days after the patch be level 200 on my map. Unless if they were players from Japan, I don't know how anyone levels up that fast. I didn't even hit 150!
02/10/15, 16:53
@VofEscaflowne
I hope they don't jack with EXP like that, but I wouldn't doubt it after that one run.

I've done 2 level 200 Network Links, with my level 91 Link. It's tough, and the rewards aren't not really worth it...but I have seen them since Saturday.

Then I've got this lowly level 4 Network Link hanging out in the corner. Poor guy.

So I got an eShop card for my birthday (for $50) and this has been on my wish list for a while. I think it's time to buy it, huh?

I recommend it! It's fun in a way similar to the old beat-em-ups on the SNES, but with a healthy dose of Zelda fan service and solid music to boot. It's challenging enough to remain entertaining as well; I was similarly on the fence but it ended up being one of my favorite games last year.
