amiibo is certainly turning out to be a big thing in Nintendo's eyes. Whether or not the rewards for utilizing each amiibo is worthy to you, Nintendo plans to implement all sorts of bonuses. It appears right now that every amiibo is meant to do 'something' in each game though games not featuring certain characters may have more limited uses or lesser-valued ones. We've had plenty of threads on here for amiibo and I'm sure that will continue. Still, I wanted to establish a general discussion thread that doesn't have a specific focus or thought. We'll also use this thread for informing the forums about upcoming news regarding new waves of amiibo or new compatibility. Enjoy! Tell us which amiibo you're planning to get! To get the party started, here are the various waves of amiibo on their way, compatibility information from Nintendo's website, and various links to other threads regarding amiibo. Known amiibo

Grabbed a Sheik this morning in addition to my Rosalina out in Irondequoit. For those not in "the know," Irondequoit is kind of a dump in Rochester, so much so that their mall completely closed. Its pretty close to The City, and kinda.."ghetto"..not my words. Anywho, their TARGET is apparently slightly bigger than ours, and thus received more Rosalinas...even though the INTEREST in Rosalina would be lower. I'm told only a handful of people came out this morning to their store, and the majority of them went home with a Toon Link, leaving a perfectly good Rosalina sitting there. When I called after I got home, they had 7 (!!) in store. Yowza. After leaving the Greece Store in a huff, I realized after the fact that I probably should've stuck it out in line for another 10 seconds so I could've went home with a Toon Link. Dumb. Shame on me. All that said, Rosalina is taken care off, I still have a Sheik pre-order at GameStop that they haven't called me about, so I will potentially have 2 of them, and my Toon Link should come through GameStop as well. Not sure why they haven't received theirs.. I still have faith! (though, again, I really don't understand how TRU can receive and sell out of them while my GS is like "haven't seen 'em!") I hope everyone gets what they seek in here. ploot said:@ludist210 I'll keep my eye out for a Sheik for ya. I have a feeling she'll be a tough one to find. *scoff* (But seriously, is Sheik JUST Zelda in a REALLY good disguise? I always felt that she used her magic to COMPLETELY change her body, including a gender shift. Note the chest, change in voice?, and the red eyes -- which I'm sure aren't Hylian Contacts. The response "it's a videogame" is valid here, too..) |

@Mr_MustacheYep, Zelda is Shiek. If you've playef Ocarina of Time, Sheik reveals herself to Link as Zelda. Its in the last quarter of the game where the reveal happens. Back onto Amiibos, of course no stores around me receieved any of the wave three amiibos, other than Gamestop receiving Bowser on wednesday. I went to both walmarts, both gamestops, best buy and target earlier today and nothing! I don't understand why this is happening. Eventually, the wave three amiibos will make it, but I've pretty much given up that the walmarts around here will ever receive anything other than wave one amiibos. I even checked a third walmart which is around 27 miles south from where I live(my one job is located in that commons area) and all they got in a week or so ago was wave one amiibos, same with walmarts in my city. You know, if Nintendo could ship out more of the common amiibos, like Mario, Link, Kirby, Pikachu, ect, ect., then what is stopping them from shipping out the rare ammibos, like Villager, Marth, Wii Fit Trainer and I'll even include Star Fox. All three of these walmarts were basically wiped out of Amiibos, except for a couple and around a week or so ago, they was loaded back up with all the common amiibos. I really don't have a bunch of spare time checking everyday for these things. At least all these stores are really close to one another. Basically, we have two huge common areas, where all these retail stores are located, so its not like I have to drive all over the place. I thought about calling around first, but especially our walmarts, it takes forever for anyone to pick up the phone and whe you actually do get in touch with someone, they sound like their IQ level in in the red. I owe Brandon a big Thank You for hooking me up with Rosalina. Now, I just need to get a toon link. After Nintendo saw how popular the first two waves were, one would think they would have upped the amount they shipped for wave three. And why in the world they just don't sell these through their online store as well, is baffling. Yea, I know, this is Nintendo, but honestly, what a great way this would be to track how well each amiibo is selling. That way, Nintendo would have a better idea which Amiibos are selling and not just sitting on store shelves. If Nintendo is worried about being stuck with a bunch of product that isn't selling, this would be a perfect way for them to be able to track each amiibo. The amiibo's that are selling well, they can just inform whoever is actually producing them, to make more of that amiibo and the ones that are not selling or slowing down, Nintendo could control that as well. I know, I know, it all makes too much sense. Nintendo doesn't like taking the sensible route. |
