I've been meaning to grab this up eventually, I have it on Steam as a gift but decided to hold off and play it on the Wii U when it was announced for that platform. It's basically a moody sci-fi 2D puzzle platformer game based around the idea of creating clones of yourself and switching positions with them. I'm about an hour into it so far and it is actually pretty freaking awesome. Puzzles have been great, atmosphere is amazing. Can't really say if it will maintain the greatness all the way through but so far I am impressed.

Price is a bit steep for eShop at $20 but I still consider that cheap next to retail games. And it (for the most part) has the production values of a retail game. The graphics, for instance, are really impressive, and the soundtrack, though minimal, hits at the right parts.

Anyone else played and / or planning on playing this? It's on Steam as well, probably a lot cheaper too.

I played it on the Vita and really enjoyed it... though I didn't even get a single trophy for it so I wonder what the heck I even missed. Very fun puzzles to solve anyway but I kinda hate when these type of games are so vague in the bonus objectives.

Played it on Steam when it first came out. Loved it.

There are terminals or something you have to find that are the achievements. I found zero on my only playthrough.

I've got this installed on my PC and it's in the queue after Shantae and perhaps Shovel Knight.

Played this on PC about a year ago. It's an excellent game, I can't recommend it enough.

About how long is it? I'm assuming somewhere between 3-5 hours, just because that seems about how long these games usually are, but I really have no idea.

@Zero

Five hours sounds about right.

It's been announced this is going to be one of the "free" games for the PS4 in January.

Finished it last night. Final time was about 5 1/2 hours. Really liked it.

I think the puzzle designs are excellent... they have a lot of what I guess is called "emergent" gameplay where there are really only a limited amount of actions you can do in the game (usually just create a clone or switch places with a clone, with some occasional box pushing and such here and there) but they really do a lot with that. For instance, a few of the puzzles revolve around figuring out how to kill off key clones that you created earlier so that you can create more which I found to be pretty clever.

Difficulty was also pretty perfect which is to say it gets tough enough to get you stuck and then give you that "wow!" moment when it clicks a lot, while rarely being overly frustratingly tough... I only really got stuck on one puzzle long enough to give up on it and come back later, and I ended up solving it pretty quickly when I came back.

So yeah. Definitely highly recommend, one of my favorite Wii U eShop games yet. $20 might sound steep, especially when you can probably get it for cheaper on Steam during some crazy sale (or free on PSN in January apparently), but I don't regret it one bit. Mind you with the discounted eShop cards that I got and the digital deluxe promotion it really worked out closer to $15 for me. Oh, and one advantage it has over the Steam version is the GamePad displays a map / logs / etc. which is definitely not necessary, but is nice to have separately so that you don't have to stop to check it all.

I started this last night. The game is so quiet that I didn't realize that the audio had gone out (I need a new HDMI cable) so I think I missed some voice over stuff. Hopefully not too important.

I didn't get to play too much since I ended up going out, but the game definitely caught my attention in a way that other indie games I've tried lately (Thomas Was Alone, Mark of the Ninja) didn't so I think I will beat this one in pretty short order.

I tried to get past the first hour several times on Vita (was a PS+ game), but I just couldn't get into it, I really appreciate the concept and the level design and the craftsmanship, but... I just find it all incredibly boring. Eventually I just deleted it from my system and filed it under "wanted to like but just can't".

I REALLY want this but there are so many other eShop games that are under $20 that I also want. I'll probably wait for a sale, even though I'm sure this is worth the full price.

The Swapper is one of the best games of 2013, and everyone should play it.

Just beat it. Can't say I was paying enough attention to the story to really understand what was going on in the end. So yea, story wasn't a highlight for me. It was partially my fault for not really reading carefully, but still, it could have done a better job of grabbing me and making me care.

For the record, I swapped. But I watched the other ending on YouTube and it seems to be the more interesting one. I was a little disappointed that there wasn't a final puzzle or set of puzzles at the very end, it was just kind of like, you get the last orbs and then you just walk around and see the story happening with no real gameplay climax. Didn't ruin the game or anything, but I thought it could have made the ending more satisfying.

Overall, though, definitely a cool game with great atmosphere and neat puzzles that kept me interested each session and wanting to come back for more. Worth picking up for sure, especially when it inevitably goes on sale sometime pretty soon.
