I've had this game for a while and really want to play it, but I don't know if I can give such a time commitment right now...

As for Untold, I won't have such a dilemma over which mode to choose, as I already played the original game. So I'll choose the new mode to see all the new stuff added.

Yup, sounds like we are thinking very similarly on this one. It's just so frustrating because the pre-made characters seem so cool! But the character creation and customization was part of why I fell in love with EO4!! ARGH!! It would be one thing if these were 12-hr games; it might not feel so bad to start over a 2nd time to see it all. But, when I'm invested over dozens of hours, I want that to be *the* game. Ya know?

Please report back if there's anything good from Miiverse. =)

I had to come to terms with missing out on classes/plot elements/endings/boss encounters/items playing EOIII since you have to join one of several factions at one point in the story, and I was hoping I could avoid that sort of thing in the future. Do we know if EO2 Untold does things the same way as the first remake?

From the cutscene-heavy trailers, I'm assuming it is setup just the same. =\ But, worth looking into for sure!

The other weird thing is, if these games never had character customization, I might love them for the Story Mode and be completely happy. But, after experiencing the joys of this specific style of character customization (made me feel like FF1!) I just can't play EO without it!

Totally the same here! In fact, I always prefer JRPGs that focus more on plot and characters with pre-written personalities, but Etrian Odyssey is the big exception.
