amiibo is certainly turning out to be a big thing in Nintendo's eyes. Whether or not the rewards for utilizing each amiibo is worthy to you, Nintendo plans to implement all sorts of bonuses. It appears right now that every amiibo is meant to do 'something' in each game though games not featuring certain characters may have more limited uses or lesser-valued ones. We've had plenty of threads on here for amiibo and I'm sure that will continue. Still, I wanted to establish a general discussion thread that doesn't have a specific focus or thought. I saw WFT at Wal-Mart yesterday, just one left. I thought about nabbing it for reselling purposes, but eh. Some other kid might actually want their yoga toy more than I could use fifteen extra bucks. It is 'tis the season, after all.

Now I feel bad I didn't buy her for Ludist though! (Or even keep her myself, she is my number five in SSB, after all)

Maaaan, guess I'm gonna have to try to find the rarer ones around me before they go out of stock.

Question for those of you on the lookout for these amiibo--are you guys trying to "catch 'em all," or are you just grabbing your favorites right now? The amiibo are cool-looking, but I'd be scared to venture down that path...that's an expensive endeavor!

I just grabbed Wii Fit Trainer and Villager because of the news they were going out... but then once I got them, I was like "Uh I don't really want to collect all of these, do I?" Now I'll probably limit myself to my favorites. Maybe.

Oh, I get where you're coming from. Nintendo characters are fun and the amiibos look pretty nice. I'm sticking with my plan of just three, though--plus any potential gifts!

I'm being selective, but mostly grabbing them all aside from the Pokemon (because I don't have any sort of attachment to them). But I'm not getting the "staple" amiibo right away (like Mario, Yoshi, DK, etc). I'm a huge Fire Emblem fan, so I'll be snagging those as they become available.

If I skip a meal out, that pays for one...and I need to cut down on my fast food intake, so...yep. But really I'm just going for the more-likely-to-be-obscure first, and I won't be buying one per week.

If anyone in the US finds a Villager, let me know.

Yeah, I just was telling my cousin about amiibo over beer and I ended up buying the four possible off Amazon to pre-order. Then I got home and realized Luigi was available so I pre-ordered that. I'll probably nab the rest early from Gamestop in pre-order form too.

This will leave the six I need left from the staples... Mario, Link, Peach, Fox, Kirby, and Pikachu. Hopefully my family gets some of those for me for Christmas.

Alright, so who is looking for what (can we get a list up top)? I drove around looking for Marth for Fink today; best bet is Target. Look there, dudes. I was checking the racks here, and both of our Wal-Marts don't even have SKUs for Marth, Wii Fit Trainer, Villager, etc.

I'll check my Target tomorrow, and then head to Toys R Us for a possible Villager peek. I'm broke-ish right now though, might have to wait to make a solid purchase on Friday. Not sure how that'd work out. I'll have to hide them in the bathroom there or something.

I got Fink (and Ploot) a Marth. I'm looking for Villager. That's it...checking my TRU and Best Buy today.

EDIT: ...or I was. I ordered it from Entertainment Earth. It won't arrive until January, but the site is reputable and I didn't pay an outrageous price ($12.99 plus shipping).

Just a Marth for me. I guess there's still Wii Fit Trainers here... there were a bunch the other day anyway.

I bought a Peach amiibo yesterday. I used it in Smash and Mario Kart but I'm more than pleased with it sitting on my bookshelf.

Toys R Us has Lucario back in stock on their website for pre orders.

Do you guys trust just preordering from websites or brick and mortar stores? Maybe I should just preorder from tru and GameStop and Best Buy if it's more guaranteed.

Anyone ever preorder early from a website only to have it be sold out anyway?
