Some things in life are inevitable. Death. Taxes. The moon falling from the sky and obliterating the world. And of course, remakes of popular video games. With the recent announcement of Majora's Mask 3D, Nintendo manages to cover the entire list. (Unless your video game prices don't include sales tax, in which case, lucky you.)Thankfully, it seems that this will be no lazy remake. According to a recent interview with Eiji Aonuma, work on Majora's Mask 3D began in June 2011 shortly after development on Ocarina of Time 3D wrapped up. With any luck, this means we'll be getting Majora's Mask 'Master Quest'. Feel free to post any new info in this thread as it comes to light. URL to share (right click and copy)

@JargonHere is the video I watched to pull out those quotes. It is literally in game material I'm pulling from. How that counts as "writing it off" is beyond my understanding. These passive aggressive shots are such a waste of fucking time. If you beat a dungeon, why doesn't she help you out by having it remain beaten? She keeps the Giant awoken. You know, that whole "fun" thing you keep talking about? Further more, it is likely because the world resets to Hour 0. Beyond that, it's likely a way to make the Great Fairy gathering locked behind getting everything in one 3-day cycle, instead of allowing players to constantly come back for multiple cycles to unlock the rewards. That whole thing about..risk...reward. While we're at it, why does she have to bring you back to that exact moment everytime?Because the game is based on giving the player 72 hours to tackle things. You aren't supposed to feel comfortable with time. It's supposed to be a constant thought on your mind in the game, it is unlike any other Zelda title because of this. If you can make progress until Hour 52, hardsave, and go until Hour 54 and realize you fucked up, reset to Hour 52...you lose all of that. Time is no longer a factor, it's merely a second thought. You might as well remove the moon overhead and take away the 72 hour clock, just have it ever lower as you complete dungeons. Turn it into Ocarina of Time..... Now, I'm not against giving the player the ability to move to any point in time they want, by some new variation on the Song of Time or the likes. But it should still follow the same rules. You travel back in time, the game acts whatever hour you return to as "Hour Zero" regardless of what day or time you return to. You go back 1 hour, everything resets. You go forward, it acts the way it does now. What progress you currently have is kept going forward. I don't see a problem with that. |

@StephenYes they did. And clearly that version of the game is much better. That's why you and everyone else here plays Mario with the White Tanooki suit all the time. FINALLY, someone solved the 'problem' of all those Killer Goombas. Fuck Nintendo and their shitty design for ever coming up with that original idea in the first place. @JargonA 3-day cycle that runs it's course in only 54 actual minutes. Faster still if you use the tools already available to you. And like I said, even the most arduous sidequest in the game can be completed in just over 20 minutes. And of course, this entire argument relies on the assumption that you're repeating absolutely everything instead of simply key events at key times, and that you made absolutely zero progress in the entire previous time cycle. No new items aquired, no new information learned. A complete and utter waste of time. That isn't the case, and you know it. 'Redoing' this stuff isn't the hellish experience you claim it to be, no more so than replaying a Mario level a dozen times because you keep missing the same jump. So don't act like you've parried my +1 Hammer of Logic with your +3 shield of 'Ignore reality'. It just makes you look like the Black Knight Jargon said: It seems like there might be a way to let people experience those things without being turned off by redoing shit, but apparently even looking for ways to make that happen are verboten. The way to do that is to boot up the E-shop and download Ocarina of Time. Majora's Mask IS a game about 'redoing shit'. Time to accept that. |

Source Actual SourceFamitsu said:- According to Aonuma, after Ocarina of Time 3D released, they considered what to develop next - Shigeru Miyamoto said to Aonuma: ''If we ported Majora's Mask to a portable device, woudn't it play more smoothly than the original as it is possible to put the game in sleep mode at any time?'' - Aonuma refused at first since he had memories about how development of the original game faced great difficulties - Also thought, ''if we made the remake, there would likely be many parts to be changed'' - Aonuma considered the remake seriously and played the original again - Thereafter he thought: ''If this thing is changed, it would be easier to play'' - The difficulty balance assumed that players had experienced Ocarina of Time before - For the remake, new players are also being considered - Aonuma: ''Specifically speaking, parts that were conventions and weren't explained at all are changed, and challenges which you realize by repeating many times are made easier to understand.'' - The changes in Majora's Mask 3D are intended to help stumped players with hints - Three-day cycle remains the same, and the system for following other people's actions aren't changed - A boss battle will be seeing changes - Players will be able to fish at two places - Gyro controls returning in Majora's Mask remake - Dev team is also using the know-how from A Link Between Worlds to make more pleasant touch controls - Visuals will be the same on original and New 3DS - Mysterious tease from Aonuma: ''Please wait for the opportunity to discuss how playing on the New 3DS differs at a later date.'' |
