Welcome to the official discussion thread for Hyrule Warriors on the Wii U!

Through all the stories and all the timelines found in the Zelda series... nobody saw this coming. Koei Tecmo and Nintendo team up to take the Dynasty Warriors formula, toss in a lot of Zelda-franchise fan service, and blend that stuff together in a funky mish-mash of Zelda lore that only the Wind Fish could dream up. That game is called Hyrule Warriors.

I was admittedly hesitant on this title upon first announcement. I had no idea what the Dynasty Warriors franchise was all about. I knew I loved Zelda. It wasn't until the excellent Nintendo Direct (embedded below) which sold me on the idea. I'm seeing a lot of reviews, which started coming in today, and they seem to agree that this isn't much of a Zelda game. I have to point out, the name borrows the Warriors from Dynasty Warriors and not Zelda. This alone helps me see what Koei Tecmo and Nintendo were aiming for. This isn't going to be a Zelda main-line game nor is it striving to be. For what it's goals are, and for what Nintendo has contributed to it, I'm pretty excited myself and now there's less than 10 days remaining. The game releases on September 26th, 2014.

Fun Facts
1.) Sends Link and 12 other playable characters from various Zelda universes into other universes. Mixing things up!
2.) Loaded with various locales, enemies, bosses, items, and music from throughout the Legend of Zelda series.
3.) Series offers plenty of DLC options (detailed below).
4.) Tons of combos and special moves for each character.
5.) 2-player Co-Op (though I hear it's pretty hard on the Wii U processing)
6.) Unique 'Adventure Mode' taking players back into the NES' The Legend of Zelda for a mix of challenges and adventure! (at least on the map)

I guess I still don't understand what you're saying. I was trying to do tougher quests with nastier rewards (ie: Rafts, Diggers, Bracelets, etc.), and nothing. I really think I figured it out though: if you need something to come back, do the Quest that originally would've opened it up.

@VofEscaflowne

How though? He still blocks everything, and then he combos you. Gettin' JUGGLED out there, and if you're doing a Quest where you can't get hit for 4 hearts, he almost has you there in one attack. Ghastly.

Thanks for the thoughts on the Legend Mode. Will do.

@Mr_Mustache

I like I said, just keep on attacking even if he's blocking. He'll eventually break out of the block by doing that forward leap attack which leaves him open for an easy counterattack. As long as you dodge it, you can hit him back quick.

Also I've figured out that you can use the arrow on character bosses when their weak points appear for characters who don't attack quickly enough to drain it entirely in one go. It stuns them long enough so that you can get more hits in and in some cases, completely drain it right away. Especially helpful when you need to get under that 15 minute mark. It's especially hard with this one I'm trying to do now...

Woo! That took a while. 100 super-rare metals!

@VofEscaflowne

Arrows, huh? Sounds awesome. I still use Bombs to juggle occasionally. I'm just slashing in a FRENZY a lot though, lots of "clang clang clang clang!" I've got those digging mitts upped as often as I can though.

@Mr_Mustache

Yeah the bombs do work well on some enemies, especially Redeads I think. Probably works on character bosses too but eh, aiming the arrow is easier than aiming bombs. Miss with the bomb and you screw it all up.

@VofEscaflowne

I'm gonna incorporate those Arrows instantly. Dig it.

Ruto's huge waves attack is underrated, too. I never use it (FOR SOME REASON), but on those "Defeat XXX enemies in X minutes!" missions, holy S. You can take out like 120 guys in 4 seconds.

ReDeads! I found out that Zelda's Baton REALLY seems to do the tricks with those things, and Gibdos, too.

All level 3 weapons acquired

Well, I went ahead and bought this after enjoying my sister-in-law's copy. Guess I'll be joining the adventure with you guys!

@TriforceBun

Awesome! It's been a blast!

@TriforceBun

I cringed today when I realized just how close Bayonetta 2 was to releasing. I could've played this for at least another month without interruption from any other game. I've got DLC I haven't even touched!

Just finished the third illustration. One piece left in Adventure Mode and it'll actually complete the fourth!

Arrows work magic on the "all attacks are devastating attacks". Just run around and snipe people. Need to dodge out of the animation, though, because some times the cannon fodder does actually swing.

@missypissy

What works even better, when given the option that is, is to use the Wind Waker. It's easy enough to get 2000+ kills in like 4 minutes.

Also

That's done with! Four illustrations now.

@VofEscaflowne

Holy cow! Gold in almost everything. How much time did that take?
10/20/14, 16:46
@VofEscaflowne
I still haven't gotten any of Zelda's weapons :( Though that does sound like a good way to power level her, get one with +Exp and go to town.

@TriforceBun

A loooooooot I need to go back and get the gold on those silver ones sticking out. Some of them are crazy though...
10/20/14, 16:54
Well the good news is it looks like we get TWO MORE Adventure Boards (Nov/Jan) so there's that.
10/20/14, 18:18
@missypissy

I really hope they add variety to them a bit more. Master Quest is nice but it's still essentially the same stuff. Even a new map layout would be nice. A Link to the Past or something. Anything!

Is this in ADDITION to the recent Master Quest board? Because...yikes. That's a buttload of content. I wonder if I'd get bored of this game before then...I'm definitely considering all the DLC now...

A Link's Awakening map would blow my mind. Heck, I'd love to see any LA representation in HW, especially if we got playable Marin.

@TriforceBun
Yeah, one for the Twilight Princess DLC (Nov) and the other for Majora's Mask (Jan). The Boss DLC just says 2 new game modes.

I also hope for a new map. Not real sure if we'd get one, though.
