I think we have about as many of you people as we need.

@Shadowlink
I also invited a Kiwi here, although he hasn't ever posted or done anything with his account.
And that list is interesting, if a little corrupt.
07/24/14, 08:52
@chrisbg99

South Australians? I agree.

Some might argue one is probably too many though
07/24/14, 08:58
@chrisbg99
We know you love us. It's impossible to hate Australians.

@Shadowlink
South Australians are best Australians.

@Pokefreak911

This is true. But as our American friends like to remind us, everything is topsy-turvy backwards here.

So really that just makes you the worst Australians.

Ok that's not fair, that accusation lies at the feet of the Tasmanians. Did you hear Jacqui Lambie's latest rubbish the other day? The woman makes me want to scratch my brain out through my ears.

Which brings the conversation back to the Commonwealth Games:

Tasmania missing on Australian uniform for Commonwealth Games Team

“I hope that it was an oversight and not deliberate. Tasmania also disappeared from Olympic medals and posters for Baz Luhrmann’s movie Australia, so it’s very disappointing that the same oversight has happened a number of times,” Tasmanian senator Jacqui Lambie told news.com.au.

Lambie, who has made headlines this week after appearing on a radio show and asking if a listener was well-hung, said a simple apology would not suffice.

“As compensation from the Commonwealth government we’ll need extra cash – $5 million – for a tourism advertising campaign – as well as more cash to lower the cost of sea travel to Tasmania.

“In 2008, Tasmania had about $42m spent on tourism and in 2013 we spent $24m.

“An apology without extra cash from the Commonwealth is not a proper way of fixing up this new oversight.

“Ordinary Tasmanians will be offended and feelings will be hurt. We’re very proud of our state, however more than just feelings will be hurt,” Lambie added.

“Many Tasmanian businesses, which rely on tourism, will also be hurt – as well as the job security of their workers.

“So we’ll need more than just words when the apology is eventually delivered by an embarrassed PM or his sports minister.”

Jesus fucking Christ. Your crappy state got left off the uniform. So you want millions of dollars for 'hurt feelings' now? Suck it up.

Alright, Day 1 highlights:

- Australian Women's 4x100 relay team sets a new world record in the pool
- Canada claims the gold for Rhythmic Gymnastics
- Scotland storms home in the 200m breaststroke to take gold and silver
- Kenyan competitor is pulled from the swimming leg of the Triathalon after making the unorthodox decision to use breaststroke
-Queen Elizabeth pulls off the greatest photobomb in world history when she crashes the Aussie hockey team's selfie shot:

England leads the table with 6 gold, Australia on their heels with 5. Scotland putting up an impressive home showing of 4 medals, with India and Canada rounding out the top 5 with 2 gold apiece.

@Super_Conzo

Only one bronze for Northern Ireland as yet . But it's in Judo. Fighting!

@Shadowlink
lol - good update.
Keep 'em coming.

Edit: Haven't seen Lizzy smile like that in decades! Check those pearly whites - all natural of course.

I think the Queen is staying alive just long enough for Charles to die and no one will have to put up with that fruitcake being the King of England.

Ah nuts. This turncoat even has an Irish name!

Northern Ireland's Ruairi Dalton shows guts and character in abundance against Australian Andrew Maloney, but sometimes that alone isn't enough.

So it proved as Maloney - who narrowly lost to eventual gold medallist Paddy Barnes four years ago in Delhi - lands the better punches and gets a unanimous verdict.

It's an impressive performance, and food for thought for home favourite Reece McFadden, who will face Maloney in the semi-final.

I seem to remember hearing that he gave up any claim to ever being king for some reason, so I'm pretty sure William is next in line.
07/29/14, 17:21
Australia is going well so far in the Commenwealth Games. But that will probably change once the Swimming is over.

@Super_Conzo

Heh. We've got a lot of people with Irish ancestry here. A lot of the convicts were Irish. Can't imagine why.

Sorry for the lack of updates-Our local coverage has been ridiculously lacking this time (Apparently Australia winning more swimming events is about all that happens) ,and I haven't had time to really scour through the events.

@Pokefreak911

Yeah England have really buffed up their team in the last couple of years. We've got 33 gold to England's 32. When the Swimming ends, we're probably toast. Commentators have noted that the solution to this travesty is to make sure the games are nothing more than Swimming in the future. I think the 2018 games are being held on the Gold Coast, so we can make that happen

Ahead of the rest of the pack though. The next best is Scotland with 13.
07/29/14, 23:11
@Shadowlink
Doesn't SBS or One have more events on them? I'm not the biggest sports fan but normally they have a bit more variety when it comes to the Games.
@Shadowlink@Shadowlink
Damn Gold Coast get's everything. We go and build a brand spanking new swimming centre over at Marion and I doubt we'll use it for anything important like the Commonwealth games.
07/30/14, 04:47
@Pokefreak911

Oh I meant the news coverage after the fact, not the events themselves. Trying to trawl through it just throws up story after story of Aussie pool gold. That's boring.

Man. Not getting to post from work anymore has changed this thread for me

FOOTBALL THIS WEEK
09/01/14, 20:34
@Mr_Mustache

Yeah only a few days till the NFL kicks off.

First weekend of college was good. The NDSU Bison improved their winning streak to 25 after beating Iowa State.

It's been a long time since I've cared about baseball in September, but Seattle is doing their best to make this a roller coaster finish. Bought MLB.TV for the remainder of the season ($12) so I can watch the games that are out of market. Of course not realizing that they consider the Rangers "in market" for Houston so that cuts out a decent chunk of the remaining games...

Also, Astros fired their head coach today. They admit the wins-losses is a failure of organization strategy, yet they need a clubhouse change of direction? Someone mentioned that the coach and GM got into a public pissing match which is why he got fired. Also they didn't tank the season good enough for #1.
09/01/14, 21:39
@missypissy
Baseball is stupid with their definition of tv markets. I live in OKC and I'm in the blackout zone for the Rangers, Royals, Cardinals and Astros. I think we even used to be blacked out for the Rockies. Even ESPN games with any of those teams are blacked out unless it's a Sunday night game.
09/02/14, 14:44
I do believe missypissy is happy tonight after Thursday Night Football.
09/05/14, 07:06
I'm happy tonight after the game. Death to the Packers!
