I'm excited for baseball this week. I imagine boxing and baseball took the longest because they were the least popular and have been improved the most.
Ah good. I'll download the baseball one for sure. My son keeps wanting to play that in Wii Sports Club, but of course we can't do that (yet). So I kept having to dig out my old Wii Sports disc for him, which...I mean, not a big deal, but...still. I like having all my Wii U stuff digital so I don't have to be bothered with disc-swapping. It's just more convenient.
@Jargon I dunno. The whole swing-too-hard-and-automatically-shank-it mechanic was kind of weird.
The Treehouse videos are freaking packed with exclusive tidbits. It's the kind of expansive preview coverage that Nintendo never let anyone else do! Lots of new details. In the 3DS Smash Bros. one, there's tons of info about Smash Run, the customization mechanics, the game economy, etc.
I keep falling asleep while watching them, but they're really good. I'm just a narcoleptic!
Tried baseball and boxing today. Both are semi improved with the Gamepad stuff in baseball and double WM+ in boxing. But I'm afraid I'm just over it with these games. I'd still love to see fleshed out Mario sports games with WM+ controls, but I've had my fill of these 5 Wii Sports.
Also played some baseball online and the lag was brutal (I foolishly chose anyone instead of New York club, the nearest club graphically where you can actually find a match). Pretty disappointing they haven't released a patch or something to improve that yet.
I'm not 100% sure I'll be available tonight, but I haven't started the 48 hour trial so I'd be up for some games tonight if I'm around. What time were you thinking?
Cool. I think I'm about to hop online right now, I'll stay online until at least then. There is also another friend, DrunkinBeauvais, who might join us. If we get a fourth guy, that would be ideal for tennis...
I went ahead and bought Baseball and Boxing. My son is getting some decent use out of it. I like having the Sports games available on the system - they are good pick-up-and-play games for parties and random get-togethers.
So I'm thinking about what games I'm going to play on vacation up the coast, and I thought "I gotta take Wii Sports/Resort with me". I got my parents, aunt, uncle, and two cousins all staying in the same holiday house with me for 2 weeks. Cousins might be up for Smash, but the elderly types need something with a bit more common appeal. Wii Sports is always a hit.
But then I gotta pack more discs, muck about with Wii mode…so I’m wondering, is getting this version of the game worth it? The big attractions for the family are Bowling and Tennis. It might be easier to simply download those sports before I go away and do away with the old Wii copies.
Those who have played, what do these versions have to offer above the originals? Have they fixed the cross-region online play mess yet, or will that just be a big waste for me?
