@Mop it upNice write-up. I'm currently working on 3 stars and rainbows myself (got about 3/5ths rainbows of the ones I've done so far). I rather like this game, though, with its only real flaw being in the quality of some of the games, and the fact that I would've loved to see way more x character in y game remixes (like in the credits sequence). Oh, and the lag issue, but that's more of a wireless/HD problem.
Here's how I'd rank the games in terms of enjoyable challenges:
Great:
-The Legend of Zelda (couldn't get enough of these, nostalgia overload and nice variety)
-Super Mario Bros. (good fun, would've been exceptional if it weren't for the lag)
-Wrecking Crew (I love this game and it works even better in bite-sized challenges)
-ExciteBike (holds up pretty well, actually, and works nicely in the context of NES remix)
Good:
-Donkey Kong (rather good variety and solid controls. I miss the arcade version's pie factory)
-Donkey Kong Jr. (gameplay-wise, this game's at least as good as DK)
-Balloon Fight (good, although the controls are a little wild)
-Mario Bros. (this is around the point where the controls start affecting my enjoyment, otherwise good)
-Donkey Kong 3 (weird game and stupid concept, but it plays well enough)
-Ice Climber (I have a soft spot for this one, even though the controls are lousy. I still enjoy its challenges, though)
Bleh:
-Clu Clu Land (just too unintuitive in how its controlled)
-Pinball (really really basic. A little music would've gone a long way)
-Tennis (interesting how you can see the seeds of Mario Tennis here, but the racket is swung soooo slowly)
-Baseball (so slowwww)
-Urban Champion (like Double Dragon, if Double Dragon was totally uninteresting and clunky)
-Golf (this just feels like guesswork to me. How am I supposed to have an idea of how far each club hits the ball?)
All that said, I'm a fan of NES Remix and it's sequel, and I'd be down for more of these in the future.
