Hello, true believers! Welcome to Negative World's newest RPG-centric Club Hub, springing off the heels of the Fire Emblem Club. Way back when, Nintendo Power introduced a monthly walkthrough / in depth Role Play Game section (right around the beefiest SNES RPG era), but since they aren't around anymore to use it, Negative World will bring it out of the ashes, dust it off, and roll with it (two things of note: #1, this is not in reaction to Nintendo Force Magazine at all -- I know that because I thought of it in the shower this morning, so THERE; and #2, I just looked up "Epic Center RPG" on Yahoo, and there is apparently another RPG-based site that has that, ugh. I guess we're looking at a "Ghostbusters" / "Real Ghostbusters" thing now... Whatever..).

For anyone who grew playing SNES RPGs, and were a fan of them, they surely resonated to the point where they still hold office as some of your favorite games of your entire videogame life, systems, generations, and decades later. The NW Epic Center (run primarily by myself, with the aid of some special friends occasionally) will help to expose some of those games that didn't quite get the recognition they deserved, and also to relive some of the greatest games EVER as we play through them again -- together -- and open up a whole new dialogue on these lost treasures.

Next up..

Chrono Trigger is held by many (myself included) as The Greatest RPG of All Time, pun not intended. It is a benchmark title in the genre, and even after 20 years the game is discussed daily and held in high regard, even in the face of juiced-up, HD "masterpieces." Is simpler sometimes better? Sure, but we're not talking "Dragon Warrior" simple here; we're talking 16-bit perfection at its finest. I'm personally a bit worried about pursuing this game once more; it's been a long time since my last jog through it, and I'm afraid I might have the rosiest pair of glasses that any shot of nostalgia could ever produce. We find out later this month, for better or for worse. (C'mon, it's gonna be fine -- we're talking Chrono Trigger here!! THE BEST, JERRY, THE BEST!!)

Sunday, August 30th marks the start of Week 1 (if you prefer to start your own quest AFTER Sunday, like Monday, or Tuesday, or Wednesday, thats fine!). Golden Sun ran 6 Weeks. GameDadGrant will be our DUNGEON MASTER for this one, and we figure the playthrough to run about the same length. Less than two months. I'm told the total quest should last you between 20 and 30 hours.

See ya soon!!

The Djinn in Lalivero, I think it's just on a roof or something?

Being cursed yes, will make you periodically miss. It can sometimes happen more than others. My thoughts are, against little foes, you don't really need cursed equipment. Against bigger foes (like the final boss, Or Deadbeard), you're not going to be doing much attacking with your weapons anyway. I've been super annoyed sometimes with how much a cursed weapon misses. It can be a lot at times I feel like. You can deal massive damage sure, but you miss enough that it doesn't really matter.

Long story short, I don't think it's worth the hassle to used cursed equipment without the Cleric's Ring. The other equipment will do just fine and you don't have to worry about missing at a crucial moment.

I just keep the Cleric's Ring on Garet with some cursed equipment. For Isaac, I think his best weapon is the Gaia Blade anyway. I just keep Isaac on healing duty with the others unleashing Djinn and summoning. Against regular foes. I just have them all out attack, and battles are over pretty quickly. I think I beat the game at level 29.

I think I'm 29/28 already.

I'll probably run the Cursed stuff on Garet then? That way I can give him the Axe AND the Armor? I dunno. I was beating the snot out of guys on the way over, haha. Just DESTROYING them with ridiculous hits. In any event, I made the switch at Lalivero, selling off my lesser non-cursed equipment, and picking up some new artifact stuff.

Yeah, the Djinn in Lalivero is on a roof. I want that little jerk!

I still don't know where to go exactly. Am I supposed to backtrack and do everything I could at that location (BEFORE Lalivero)? The end of this game seems unreasonably confusing. Not to mention the fact that its basically half of a game? What the heck happened in production?

You've gone through the main entrance to the Venus Lighthouse as much as you can. You access the rest of it via the underground Tunnel Ruins that run from Babi Lighthouse to Venus Lighthouse.

You'll know you've hit the final part of the Venus Lighthouse when the color of the rooms change to purple and the music changes.

I believe you get to the tunnel ruins by falling down to the bottom of the Babi Lighthouse (Iodem and a few others should be waiting for you in this underground area in front of a door they can't get past).

@PogueSquadron

Well yeah, I got the Carry thing but didn't Carry anything in the first lighthouse. I'm sure there is more for me to do in there.

And Lalivero Djinn; can't get him just yet?
07/15/14, 02:09
I think so? You might have to do some moving of things outside the lighthouse or something like that. I forget exactly what you have to do.

Don't overthink it. From a forum:
Go to the upper right house and climb up the ladder inside, and go around the town on the wall until you get there.

Why is something resembling my username in the topic title?
07/15/14, 21:01
@PogueSquadron

Yeah, maybe I just got the wrong house, or didn't expect to jump on the wall. I'll try laterrr.
--Today is Tuesday? Where is my miiiiind?

@Mop it up

We're mopping it up, duh. What would you rather have us write?

Zero experiences the same confusion when people are talking about Mega Man X or none of something.
07/16/14, 01:21
@Mr_Mustache "Wrapping up"
07/16/14, 02:02
@Mop it up

But we're mopping it up..

What if you change your name to Wrap It Up instead?
07/16/14, 02:14
@Mr_Mustache I had mine first.
07/16/14, 02:22
Hey Pogue, is there ANYTHING to do with the "Tower Room" (in the first Lighthouse) where it tells you to have the sun on your left or something? I talked to that Statue and she changed the floorplan a little bit each time. Is this what you were talking about before? Whats up with that electricity stuff blocking my way; can that go away at all, or have I gone as deep in this lighthouse as I can?

Why did this game get so confusing at the end??
07/18/14, 19:29
When the floor plan changes, your path through the Tunnel Ruins changes. There is a left path and a right path. Both have some good equipment I think.

From what I remember the electricity is a one way exit out of the final part of the Venus Lighthouse.

Basically it's just that there are two parts tot the Venus Lighthouse. The second part (that goes to the top) is only accessible from the Tunnel Ruins (from Babi's Lighthouse). It's a little confusing. It would be easier to understand if the game had some kind of map system.
07/20/14, 02:58
@PogueSquadron

I'm gonna have to look again later. To reiterate, I haven't been to the furthest point on the map yet, I'm still talking about the first one stumble across.
07/21/14, 21:08
But if you've been to Lalivero that's as far as you can go. That's literally the last town in the game.
07/22/14, 01:38
@PogueSquadron

Isn't the other tower physically beyond it (aka, the place I need to walk to to continue my game)?
07/22/14, 03:02
Oh. Ok yeah. I guess I just assumed that since you were there that you had gone beyond it since it wasn't too far. No wonder you're confused then. You haven't been to the place you're supposed to go yet :) It'll all make sense soon.

@PogueSquadron

So I'm done in the first tower then? Why does that stuff show up on the floor? Do you control the layout for the 2nd tower in the 1st tower? So many questionnns.
07/23/14, 00:21
@Mr_Mustache The first tower is the Venus Lighthouse. That's basically the final destination of the game. But...

Like I said, - when you enter the Venus Lighthouse, you can explore basically the entrance of it (this is where you got Carry). The main and final part of it (aka, the top, similar to when you went to the top of the Mercury Lighthouse) is accessed via a tunnel from the tower to the north (the one beyond Lalivero that you haven't been to yet).

The map room? Just think of it like this - it just represents the two towers. Changing the floor map just changes the route from the top tower (Babi's Lighthouse) to the bottom one (the Venus Lighthouse). It doesn't really matter which way you go, but I think there's a different piece of equipment in each path so it could be worth going through both paths.

Basically, the only way to really make sense of it all is to make your way to Babi's Lighthouse (the lighthouse north of Lalivero). Going through there will lead you through the ruins and to the final part of the game.

@PogueSquadron

So, I do the statue, the floor lights up, I go North, go through, stop at 'X', return to the first tower, do a different floor design, and do it all over again?
07/24/14, 00:07
At the north tower, you should be going to the top and falling down all the holes (I think)
