Only in soccer can a team finish 1-1-1, and consider it a great achievement for making the next round, even though they were outplayed 80% of the time.

What a farce.

We're going to get crushed by 3 goals in the next round.

At least at halftime everyone gets a juice box and an orange slice.

@Super_Conzo

I couldn't even smell "Someplace outside the group of death" so no, I can't smell the Quarter Finals, lol.

That game was one of the most nerve-wracking things I've ever watched. I thought I was going to throw up the whole time. I don't know how I am going to handle the next match, let alone the possibility of one after it!

Excited for you guys against Belgium. They've been winning matches but not exactly dazzling, hope you come out swinging and stun 'em. Just try to avoid extra time like every other match recently.

Ryan Miller to the Canucks? I don't know how to feel about that.... He's just as much of a head-case as Luongo was. Crazy free agency period so far, though!

Five minutes to go...

@-JKR-
This is tasty! Some sloppy passing on both sides but there are going to be goals.

Such a fantastic game at the end, even if we lost. That was a lot of fun.

Un. Believable.

This guy plays for Newcastle (Barclays Premier League)... and even though I'm not a fan of the team, I have huge respect for this goal keeper (he's good) and since I'm cheering for the dutch, (always have - especially with England being so sub par and Canada...well Canada played in 1986.... yeah) I was very excited to see him subbed on. It took guts from the future Manchester United Manager to do this and Krul responded with two huge saves.

The dutch were all over Costa Rica... the stats were insanely in their favour: Shots on target (15-3 while hitting the wood work no fewer then 3 times) and possesion (64%-36%) to name just a couple but Costa Rica were determined to defend and try and win it in spot kicks.

It backfired in a big way and I couldn't be happier for Krul. What a hero. Good luck to the Orange Army on Wednesday!

Lol Brazil. What are you doing.
07/08/14, 23:48
Go home Brazil, you're drunk.

Oh wait...

@-JKR-

Beat me to it!

WOW. 7-1 final for Germany. Embarrassing.

Soccer stuff is still going? Anything else going on??

NASCAR was destroyed by rain at Daytona all weekend. That was lame. Missed a practice on Friday, Qualifying was cut short, race was rained out on Saturday Night, and then rain-delayed -and- rain-shortened on makeup Sunday. What the fudge.

As a result, Aric Almirola got his first career victory driving The King's #43, 30 years (to the race) after Richard Petty's last victory. Pretty neat!!

How cool is this picture? If you don't know what it is, this is Richard Petty on July 4th, 1984 at the Firecracker 400, 200th/Final win race, heading down the backstretch as Air Force One lands at Daytona International Speedway. President Reagan made his way to the commentary booth, and did some Victory Lane stuff, too. Can you believe that? How far (down the tubes) we've gone in this world. Can you imagine such a thing ever happening again?

Sure, we get "first pitch" and crap like that, but everything is so different since we had some planes flown into buildings here that we lose these things. Yeah, loss of lives is worse, but this is a garbo side effect.

Only guy from Brazil in NW here and I have to say that I am enjoying the aftermath jokes to no end. The "zueira" here is strong.

I'm not a huge fan of Football/Soccer, but I have been watching the whole thing. Totally forgot about this thread!

Also, totally saw that massacre coming, even if Neymar and Tiago S. were on the field. This game was a nice way of temembering our people that "moxie" and "instinct" are not going to get you so far and that true hardwork and continuous dedication is what will take anyone forward. That goes not only for the sport, but for the general attitude of the great majority of Brazilian people. There should be some major changes on the team for 2016.

Brazil's team morale is way down. It's not a shock to see the depression and lack of will in the players. Brazilians get emotionally moved very easily, specially when it comes to soccer. Even during the interviews, the goalie Julio César was talking about his wishes to go home to his family, not even mentioning their next game against the other semi-final loser team for the 3rd place in the World Cup. David Luiz's speech about moving on and playing to bring smiles to all people was also quite sad.

Our loss aside, I'm very interested to see how everything wraps up.
